  1. A German national has been caught allegedly selling class 1 drugs.

The sale was made during an undercover operation conducted by Pattaya Police

Well, it says he was caught allegedly selling drugs.

Hmm! A German dealing drugs! Isn't that supposed to be a reserved business for Nigerians here?

To me, whether he was dealing, or the tabs were for personal use, he should be dealt with accordingly. A dealer and a junkie are the same. Without demand there'd be no supply.

  2. If the money means little to you, why not buy mother a house on unrestricted land. Then yoi won't be stealing from the locals and forcing them out of the ater.

Now this aunt suddenly wants to have some money and demands this from my wife or .. otherwise threatens to call the police, take away the house or whatever.

You can clearly see that she ( they ) need money from you.

  3. @dddave

How is the quality of the touch screen (sensitivity, not picture quality). I had a netbook-style Android based Chinese device once in my hands and the touch screen was horrible.

    welo

Tha AIGO touch screen is pretty decent though not faultless. It does occasionally lag but that may be more due to the processor. With an ASUS TRANSFORMER being a 10, I'd give the touchscreen on the AIGO a 7. Actually more responsive than a friends Acer A200. My GF uses it for a lot of games and has no problem with seizing or serious lag.

    Just install a new "launcher."

  4. saw the aigo pad at pantip the other day. Very smooth and definitely running android 4.03 when i checked the system settings. The price was very attractive!

I run a motorolla xoom with various roms on it and it run nearly as smooth as that judging by the quick play i had but i didnt go into much detailed playing around with movies or games.

I was surprised that it was android 4.0 and this is a big plus compared to 2.0 as it doesnt look like an oversized phone display.

on the downside, the hardware is lower end and there is no support from the english speaking mod community such as on XDA forum

    http://forum.xda-dev...s.com/index.php

so you pretty much on your own if you want to fault find or upgradethe OP system unless you know chinese

    Have you tried slatedroid?

  5. I bought an Ainol Elf from Pantip two weeks ago, used it for a week before handing it over to my daughter.

It's a very good tablet. It came rooted, so I was able to install CWM recovery and a custom firmware without any problems, and a launcher ( Apex ) to make scrolling smoother.

  6. Most computers sold in Thailand these days have no OS on them, or have Linux on them.

If it comes with W7 it's most likely a pirate unless you've actually paid for a separate legal copy on top of the computer cost.

    or DOS

When it says DOS I assume that means no system?

no it means it has DOS as system......

Linux also means no system, because it isn't a nice installed Linux, it is just put in the CD and install something.....without the drivers etc etc, just to save the license costs.

Linux is an operating system. Also, with many variants of Linux, you don't need to install any driver. at least, with all the ones I've tried.

I've been running Ubuntu since Dapper Drake without installing any driver.

  7. Does anyone know of websites that allow the download of Thai language television shows or movies (like the Thai soaps that air on television) in a format like MP4, so that it can be saved and viewed later? (And moderators I am not inquiring about illegal pirated stuff.)

My mom just had leg surgery and has been imobilized. Since she can't move I set up my old laptop to work streaming live Thai television onto her TV to keep her entertained. The problem is that the time difference in the USA is that when she is awake is when everyone in Thailand is asleep and alot of times its just commercials playing. I would like to download some programs so she could watch something when the regular Thai TV stations go to commercial/informercial mode. There's a place in Thaitown (L.A.) that makes and sells CD's with the Thai soap/television shows. I think they just downloaded them off the internet and burned them onto CD's. I would like to cut out the middleman (cause I don't want to drive all the way down to Hollywood) and download them directly myself if possible.

    Thank you.

    Have you tried youtube?

  8. Hmm! I hope he's man enough not to allow leaders of other nations to control him or tell him what to do.

The JP and SK premiers should stop chasing shadows. The NKs are only bluffing. I don't see NK as a threat to any of her neighbors. The Korean Peninsula would be a peaceful place if those two premiers stop causing agitation and running to Washington every time the NK leaders make any utterance..

  9. So having Baht 62000.- deducted for the flight cost, and then being asked to pay an additional Baht 62'000.- as a guarantee is standard practice is it?

It was hard to understand your point in the rant.

Are you saying you were double charged ? ? or you assumed when you clicked BUY NOW your credit card was charged ? and then after calling them you were double charged ?

My post above explains what they did, BUY NOW was simply a hold on funds, your call to Expedia was the actual debit for your own protection. Just like when you hire a car they HOLD funds and then bill you the actual amount when you return the car.

If in fact you were double billed you can dispute the charge with your bank/credit card.

When you pay for things online, some businesses deducts the cost twice. Example: 100 baht will be deducted twice - 55 and 45, or 69 and 31, etc.

You're usually asked to confirm the amounts, or you'll not be able to use the same card with that business again. It's to make sure you haven't stolen the card.

  10. She is doing what almost any human being would do, taking what she now believes is hers by right.

If you want serious advice, empty your joint account, dump her and start again, you have already spoiled this relationship for both of you. If you insist on continuing the relationship, things will only get worse.

By spoiled you mean I gave her access to all my money? Well, I don't know what sort of relationships guys have here? Give your wife/GF a monthly allowance, a budget? That isn't the relationship in my book. I was married once before (in Canada) and I didn't have to do any of these things to my now ex-wife, we both had a common interest in accumulating wealth and in our spendings. I wasted 7 years back then but came out clean with no payments or supports of any kind. The irony was that we broke over her not wanting to have kids and when it happened I was glad we didn't make any. That was offtopic.

Maybe my problem is that I am trying to apply western standarts to Thailand and a Thai girl. Not sure if it's possible but when you have to give your wife a monthly allowance it's a joke, not a relationship.

This isn't Canada. Welcome to the real world.

As a poster said, things will only get worse.

  11. There're very cheap dvd players with a usb port available at Big C / Tesco.

Media players start from about two thousand plus at Pantip and around China town ( under the bridge ). You can also order for as little as $24 usd ( including shipping ) from aliexpress.com.
