The common sense is just non - existent with these people. If, and I mean a big IF, they really have to reschedule this event then July would be a completely ridiculous and unsafe time to do it. The smart move would be to either cancel it (I don't see Western countries trying to reschedule Easter) or delay it until later this year.
The virus hasn't fully be eradicated, the monsoon season is starting, there is still a need for social distancing, drinking establishments remain closed, restaurants can't operate like normal, people are gradually returning to work to earn money again, children will have just gone back to school on 1st July after four months off.
''I know, let's have a 6 day holiday for everyone.''
Jesus Christ.

It won't fall apart at all. This whole party was created to allow the junta to remain in control. All there will be is a slight reshuffle to allow people like 'jobs for the boys' Prawit to get to the forefront for more pay days.
The reshuffle will change absolutely nothing for the establishment that is fully running this place.

Not sure there is anything 'hi so' about them.

I would be surprised if there is any easy way of getting the 1.3M back that you paid as a deposit.
Is the mortgage fully in her name? Who is going to be paying off the mortgage?

Seems to be paving the way for Jabba the Hut to be taking over. According the reports from the media not shared in Thailand or on here he is got full backing from the top to become another puppet for the real establishment in control.

I can't see the point. Kids will be back at school, no tourists. Who exactly will be celebrating it?
Exactly. They need to just leave it for this year.

Meanwhile, he cautioned users that spam received via Apple’s iMessage system is not related to ThaiChana
That is fake news and a lie. It must one of the most incredible cases of coincidence in human history if when people check in to places they miraculously receive a spam text message. These stories have been posted all over social media. I checked in to HomePro on Sunday, within ten minutes a spam message. Exactly the same as my wife and it has happened to her multiple times.
I guess he is doing the classic Thai trick of lie, lie and lie until people simply forget.

As usual, utterly ridiculous. When will Thai immigration move into
the 21st century and begin to impose normal regulations.

I have an MA in Education from the UK. I don't really need it to teach in an international school here as I already have the PGCE + QTS. The only benefit I get from it is a slight increase on the school salary scale and it looks good on the CV when applying for leadership positions. I would say only 1 module out of the 6 I did were truly interesting and beneficial to my day to day teaching.

Teflon Thailand.
We all know the establishments that are benefiting from a high THB and they certainly won't be allowing it to fall too much.

Impossible to enforce consistently. I am guessing this will become another farcical law with some people being fined and the majority not.

Finally got one of these spam messages yesterday after signing in at HomePro. It seems it is now becoming very common as my wife got one last week too.

Absolutely. A complete abomination of a man.
Had he been born in a normal democratic society he would be a no - mark military bootlicker, however here he is a multi millionaire government official.

University jobs are notoriously underpaid and I think the only way to boost the salary is through tutoring. A friend of mine had a salary similar to what you mentioned from a university in Bangkok and then made over double that by tutoring.
It was very easy work he said, but without solid savings you can't live a comfortable life on that sort of salary.

My wife went to a university here for her BA before going to England to study an MA. According to her the university admissions in England were more interested in what her IELTS score was than what her GPA was.
I am guessing for post - graduate study a degree from Thailand is fine providing you've got a good enough GPA and the required IELTS score.

Interesting. I don't mind an occasional trip there. I am still doubtful that they will be serving beers though.

I agree the rule is bizarre, but having a go at the staff and telling them where they can stick it? I assume this rant was all in English? I bet that was highly embarrassing for your family and made you look a complete chump. It always amazes me when foreigners here have a go at the staff who are low paid and just following orders.
There was an American / Canadian woman in the hairdressers I go to near Ploenchit the other day. She was having a go at the two women (who are both extremely friendly) because apparently her hair colouring price wasn't the same as she paid in January. She was being argumentative to the staff because they didn't inform her of this when she booked. I felt embarrassed for her just watching it and in the end she ended up walking out. Pathetic.

Well, sharing my true opinion on quite a few on them probably wouldn't be a good idea.

Well, as predicted a nice late announcement on Friday. After hours of preparation we're now not allowed to open according to the CCSA.
What a farce.

Three secondary aged kids at somewhere like NIST or Pattana I imagine would be near that. Incredible money.

I'm still waiting for final confirmation from our school as to whether the CCSA lot have actually green lite Monday's opening yet.
We are too. Everything is prepared for Monday (like other international schools) yet the CCSA still haven't made a final decision. Ridiculous.

There is no doubt that Thailand should be considered and are positioned excellently for global production bases.
However, when international companies start doing proper due diligence (one thing we saw that even THAI Airways cannot do this week) they will begin to see lots of things that aren't too positive.
My business knowledge is zero, but even I would be able to list some of the issues such as an overly high THB, an economy very reliant on exports and tourism, a government that literally change their mind at any time, poor level of English speaking citizens, strict visa rules and ridiculous approaches such as the TM30, rife corruption and a xenophobic outlook, a workforce with a deeply ingrained attitude of 'Kreng jai' or 'Mai bpen rai' that needs completely eradicating, shocking health and safety standards, etc.

Apart from the brass, there really isn't anything world class about P Town.
