The old bat in charge of "cultural studies" complained to the Principal/Revd Mother, lack of respect for Thai traditions or something.

They seem to believe that prostrating on the floor is something to do with Thai culture. It isn't at all and was done in many other places and religions in the past. However, most societies have realised this is utterly demeaning and abhorrent in this day and age and stopped the practice of doing it. Sadly, it is still very much part of the indoctrination and brainwashing in this country.

  2. Unfortunately, there is no chance they will become privatised.

One of the board of directors is so closely linked to the top he is actually in one of the infamous photos a few years ago. This is literally 'jobs for the boys' until the day it goes extinct. The establishments controlling this country would never let THAI be controlled by anyone other themselves or their close allies.

I saw one assignment for P5 students where they’re asked to prostrate in front of their parents or guardian, etc. Pics of prostration will earn extra points. Apparently prostration will bring happiness and success. I’ll be sure to tell my missus when she gets home from work.

How has something so demeaning as that not been abolished. It is like the middle - ages.

  4. As usual, the lack of consistency was obvious.

We went to IKEA, no QR code to enter Mega Bangna or IKEA and it was pretty quiet at 10am. Then by early afternoon it was packed with 100s of people queuing to get in. The big white bird who works at IKEA was looking very stressed. It also seemed that even though we didn't need to use a QR code to enter Mega Bangna itself, some individual shops were requiring you to do it.

  5. Those losses are incredible. Pre - Covid 19 they were losing 1 billion THB / month on average. Add in now the worst pandemic in a lifetime and THAI is literally looking at years, if not a decade of more losses.

As I said in another thread last week, it would be great if one day we get a full exposé on how they have been ran in recent years. I bet there are some absolutely unbelievable payments and deals that have gone on behind the scenes.

I bet that story of the THAI pilot kicking out paying first class guests so he could be on the flight (Zurich I think) that was in the news a few years ago is literally nothing compared to what really goes on in secret.

  6. It is strange. Yesterday we saw some restaurants with minimal rules apart from the tables spaced further apart which is fine, and then others where you could either only seat 1 person, or there was a plastic divider between you and the other person on your table. I certainly won't be going to any restaurant where I can't actually sit with the person I went there with.

  7. The fact that a lot of the new developments with small rooms but good facilities are going for nearly 1000THB per 1SQM is just absurd.

A 32SQM room for around 30,000THB / month is like living in a hotel room. I would love to know who is actually renting these kind of places.

Before we moved to our house we rented an 86SQM two bed for 36,000THB / month. It was built in 2012 not far from Asoke / Phetchaburi. 400 - 500THB per SQM is want the rental market here should be IMO.

No Red fan, but can't silence the will of a proper democracy in the making. This ain't Burma. Something will give soon.

Absolutely. In this modern age of social media there is no way the brainwashing and indoctrination by the Thai establishments will be able to continue.

It definitely won't end soon, but it will certainly end at some point in the near future. I for one cannot wait.

At BCH usually no appointment is required but it is first come, first serve and should arrive early to get in the the queue. You will need to register first for a patient number.

    Great. Thanks for the info.
