Sometimes I go a week without bowel movement. I don't feel bloated and eat like a horse and drink plenty of water.

This report is interesting (http://www.btsgroup.co.th/storage/download/sustainability/sr/bts-sd201718-en.pdf), especially the power consumption information.
The BTS network burns yearly through 106 million Kwh, slightly less than Paragon at 123 million Kwh.
Using 2.7 Kwh/carriagexkm and assuming 100 passenger per carriage gives a mileage of 37 km/Kwhxpassenger or 7.5 better than a Tesla, assuming just single occupancy.

another great forest fire resource: https://tinyurl.com/ydgzxsxm
On this site there is a graph, show below. Does anyone know are the yearly spikes related to crop burning, or wildfires?
Cool stuff. Thanks for sharing that site.
WRI uses NASA Fire Information for Resource Management Sytem (FIRMS) near real time (NRT) active fire data from the MODIS and VIIRS satellites to map fire locations. The sensors on these satellites detect the heat signatures of fires from the infrared spectral band. When a fire is detected, the system indicates the area where the fire occurred with an “alert.” Because each satellite orbits the earth twice per day, these alerts can be provided in near-real time. Fire alerts are posted on the NASA FIRMS website within 3 hours of detection by the satellite.
The accuracy of fire detection has improved greatly since fire detection systems were first developed for the MODIS satellites. Fire data from the MODIS satellite are approximately 1km resolution and VIIRS satellite data has a resolution of 375m. Today, the rate of false positives is 1/10 to 1/1000 what it was under earlier systems first developed in the early 2000s. The algorithm used to detect fires includes steps to eliminate sources of false positives from sun glint, water glint, hot desert environments and others. When the system does not have enough information to detect a fire conclusively, the fire alert is discarded. In general, night observations have higher accuracy than daytime observations. Desert ecosystems have the highest rate of false positives. Many papers have been published to validate the NASA MODIS active fire alerts for use in various applications.

If you are into Game Theory, you can auction it off:
The setup involves an auctioneer who volunteers to auction off a dollar bill with the following rule: the bill goes to the winner; however, the second-highest bidder also loses the amount that they bid, making them the biggest loser in the auction. The winner can get a dollar for a mere 5 cents (the minimum bid), but only if no one else enters into the bidding war.
The game begins with one of the players bidding 5 cents, hoping to make a 95-cent profit. They can be outbid by another player bidding 10 cents, as a 90-cent profit is still desirable. Similarly, another bidder may bid 15 cents, making an 85-cent profit. Meanwhile, the second bidder may attempt to convert their loss of 10 cents into a gain of 80 cents by bidding 20 cents, and so on. Every player has a choice of either paying for nothing or bidding 5 cents more on the dollar. Any bid beyond the value of a dollar is a loss for all bidders alike.
A series of rational bids will reach and ultimately surpass one dollar as the bidders seek to minimize their losses. If the first bidder bids 95 cents, and the second bidder bids one dollar (for no net gain or loss), the first bidder stands to lose ninety five cents unless they bid $1.05, in which case they rationally bid more than the value of the item for sale (the dollar) in order to reduce their losses to only five cents.
Bidding continues with the second highest bidder always losing more than the highest bidder and therefore always trying to become the high bidder. Only the auctioneer gets to profit in the end.[1]

A Gazzilion Chinese tourist spend twice as mush as Americans who rarely travel beyond their own borders. Gheee, really?
"Rest of the world" must include Africa and India, so let me twist a new (and better) title around for this garbage:
"Poor Chinese tourists spend less than 40% than African and Indian tourist"

You may not be aware that one of Thailand's EGAT largest power plants is lignite coal fired. It is situated at Mae Moh near Lampang and produces 50% of electricity for the North, 30% to Central and 20% to the South. I am sure EGAT is not going to turn its back on this plant - many jobs would be lost. Lignite is mined locally.
EGAT wants to upgrade it.
The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) plans to propose the Energy Ministry allocate 35 billion baht to develop two units of coal-fired power plants in Lampang's Mae Moh district to replace...

During the Asian Financial crises in 1997 monthly car sales dropped as low as 1,690 units in December 1998.
Since most cars stay 20 +/-5 years on the road, very few cars will be scrapped the coming years and all these new cars will be additional cars on the road.

New cars sales are down 20% in China, peer-to-peer lending platforms are collapsing, housing prices are stagnant in China and generally the Chinese don't have more savings than the Mexicans. Could it be that the great Chinese tourist adventure is simply over and no so much because of the boat accident?

Solar power has made huge strides in becoming more efficient and the average light in Thailand would be around 9 hours of electricity producing power from panels, i AGREE ! more proactive approaches from the government and incentive schemes are needed to get away from fossil fuels which are still so destructive.
You can half that number to 4.5 hours per day on average over a year, then you are correct.

Don't count on it:
From Bloomberg.
“There are not many countries like Thailand where the local economy is getting better but inflation is benign,” Jitipol Puksamatanan, Bangkok-based chief strategist at Krung Thai Bank Pcl, said. “This characteristic could be considered as the best of breed among EM currencies.” He expects the baht to strengthen to 30.7 per dollar by end-2019.

Interesting point and I do wonder how much they make. Most Thai banks have a quite poor track record (compared to other countries) in terms of overdue / never paid commercial loans, mortgages, car loans, and credit cards debt is enormous, one of the worst, by country, in the world, so yes an interesting question in terms of what returns they make when they use your / my deposits to try to make money.
Not true!
Thailand's Non Performing Loans Ratio stood at 3.0 % in Sep 2018, compared with the ratio of 2.9 % in the previous quarter.
Italy's Non Performing Loans Ratio stood at 11.4 % in Jun 2018, compared with the ratio of 13.2 % in the previous quarter.

A Turkish news website has published quotes and the identity of some speakers in two audio recordings revealing the last moments of slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was forced by his would-be killers to send a message to his son who was held in the kingdom by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi wrote on Nov. 19 citing latest findings in the Turkish investigation into the murder.
Gruesome stuff. So they tortured the poor guy for about 50 minutes.
Hopefully the recording will eventually leak.
Akar replied to a question on whether Turkey would make the recordings public.
“At the moment, no. But it depends on the situation, according to the developments, under the control of the prosecutor,” he said.

Where is the love, the love, the love?
Plenty people here seem to all but explicitly say that they wish their own governments would do the same with their minorities.
They have this belief that "these people" will infiltrate and overrun them, from within.
We know there have been countless open invasions, but, can anybody give an historical precedent for invasion by stealth?
I'm expecting, of course, a deafening silence from the architect of that fantasy.????
In one way you can argue that the Muslim majority in Malaysia are fearful that the Chinese/Indian minority might one day take over control of the country.
