  1. Yes. 'Look everyone, the rice wasn't damaged, still good to go ( somewhere) after 10 years. You see, Yingluck didn't damage the economy. Come home dear, all is forgiven.'
  2. 'Needs to be washed around 15 times before cooking'. . That really inspires confidence it's edible and convenient to use. Pheu Thai insulting the public yet again
  3. The teenager at the end is her son by a previous relationship with a Thai man. He says his mother was the same with him, violent. He implores the Englishman to come and take his 7 year old sister back to the U K because he fears for her safety. The police said it's a domestic issue which has to proceed by law, I think this means the Englishman himself would have to come back to Thailand and seek custody himself. The only other hope is the girl's grandparents if they're about and willing to take the girl.
  4. Do roads make people more friendly?
  5. A couple of weeks ago I read some news that, if true, was disconcerting. The article said MF had problems with their spare party which was at risk of dissolution. I forget the reason for its potential demise, something to do with the rules of running a party, number of members, length of time of existence, etc. Sadly I can't find the link to the article now.
  6. Thailand grants citizenship every year to foreigners. I think they limit it to 100 people per nationality.
  7. Descendants of Holocaust survivors join pro Palestine march. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/palestine-march-antisemitism-london-gideon-falter-b2532585.html
  8. A longer video of the exchange showing the patience of the police dealing with this troublemaker.
  9. Sorry Bob, your man's been found out. He's been trying to provoke a violent reaction from the pro Palestine marchers but failed. "Initial story about ‘openly Jewish’ incident not full picture, says ex-senior Met officer | Police | The Guardian" https://amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/apr/22/initial-story-about-openly-jewish-incident-not-full-picture-says-ex-senior-met-officer
  10. Now Thaksin and PT have joined the conservative parties, there's no place for anti establishment viewpoints on their station, so time to close it down. Not with a bang, but with a whimper.
  11. For over 20 years I had to leave our farm every year on May 11/12 to go back to work as a teacher in Bangkok It was frustrating as, almost to clockwork, the rains would begin then in north Issan. After 6 parched weeks on the farm, I would love to have been there for the early rains and blessed relief from the heat. So if it's any solace, the rains may begin then.
  12. I hope you're right but as the article says, Thaksin is a businessman. If he can improve the economy and offer enough populist policies to the grassroots, then Pheu Thai may resurge, especially if, as expected, Pita and other executives of Move Forward are banned for years. And Yingluck, if she returns as seems likely from recent court decisions, could certainly boost PT's popularity, again with the grass roots. But she may have had enough of politics. Thaksin's daughter doesn't have the charisma to carry the party forward imo, and Toni is old, irrelevant to the young. Pheu Thai would very likely fold once Toni leaves the planet Regarding MF, they need another charismatic leader to take over, Parit, Abhisit's nephew could be one example. The future belongs to them. To quote the late great drunkard, Jim Morrison, ' They've got the guns, we've got the numbers'.
