  1. I was mystified the first few times I visited Thailand. I would lose six or eight pounds on every trip, even though I was exercising about one quarter as much as I did back home, because of limited access to gyms, and pools, and no mountain bike there. I came to the conclusion that just walking around two or three hours a day in that heat burned a lot of calories. Also, since the food is so tasty and spicy, I would eat a lot less. I was wondering if eating all that hot food stimulates the metabolism?

  2. This part is extremely amusing: "Asked about the problem of jet ski and rental vehicle scams, Sen Thanyarat said, “We have good people in these businesses. But while 10 are good, one may be bad, which ruins everyone’s reputation." This person is either a bald face liar, or completely out of touch with the situation. If anything, it's exactly the reverse, one in ten might be a decent person. Actually, I pity any honest jet ski operators, because their scumbag colleagues have given a bad reputation to everybody.

  3. The so called mass gainer products are full of calories, I think some of them can be mixed with water instead of milk. They contain lots of sugars and other carbs, and a nominal amount of protein. Just check at a place where they sell body builder products.

  4. If this is the same place I'm thinking of, I have seen this for years. It's down to the left side of ao nang beach, near the monkeys? It's like a little creek of foul water going into the sea. I think it's from a resort or hotel back up in the trees.

  5. Only times I've heard of guys being robbed and attacked by lady boys is when they are either trying to procure sex or dispute over services rendered.

    Shoes missing? Hmmmm.

Ladyboys attack and rob guys quite often, I'm not too familiar with statistics in Phuket, but I know it happens often in bkk and pattaya. There is no reason required, except that the target appears to have money, and/or may not be able to defend their self. I have had to fend off some rather aggressive ones myself, and I was not trying to procure their services, I tried to not even look at them, until they try to grab me, or block my path. Some of them are experienced criminals, when you add drugs to the mix, all reason flies out the window.

Ok, so please let's have the Bangkok and Pattaya statistics.

I don't have the statistics. If you have eyes and a functioning brain, you should be able to see for yourself. I know what I have seen and experienced first hand. I don't have first hand experience from Phuket, because I have not chosen to go there in several years. If you're so skeptical, go for a walk down beach road, or sukumvit soi 4 in bkk late at night, alone. Maybe after that, you won't require statistics.

  7. The phone vendors at mbk come and go frequently, especially the peddlers of used phones. Even if they did offer a guarantee, there's a good chance they might not be there a few months later to honor it.
