After getting forced off an airplane for asking passengers who appeared to her to be Latino whether they were drug mules, a niece of former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie bit, kicked and spit on Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies trying to detain her on Thanksgiving Day at Louis Armstrong International Airport, authorities said. Shannon Epstein, 25, boarded the Spirit Airlines flight to New Jersey on Nov. 24 at about 6 a.m., and asked a family who were near her and whom she perceived to be Latino if they were "smuggling cocaine," said Capt. Jason Rivarde, a Sheriff's Office spokesperson. Airline workers requested Epstein be removed from the plane as she became increasingly irate, and the plane, which had started to taxi to the runway, returned to the gate, Rivarde said Friday. https://www.nola.com/news/crime_police/chris-christies-niece-bites-officers-at-new-orleans-airport/article_592e7ee2-728d-11ed-9b91-9345a9dda9b2.html

Former President Donald Trump called for the termination of the Constitution to overturn the 2020 election and reinstate him to power Saturday in a continuation of his election denialism and pushing of fringe conspiracy theories. “Do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” Trump wrote in a post on the social network Truth Social and accused “Big Tech” of working closely with Democrats. https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/03/politics/trump-constitution-truth-social/index.html

I believe you are wrong about the qualification for teaching. Just like the rules for foreign teachers, the Thai teachers have similar requirements. -

WASHINGTON — President Biden recently received praise — backhanded and qualified, but praise all the same — from one of the figures least likely to offer a favorable assessment of a Democratic administration: former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. In a new column published on his website, Gingrich offers his own party a blunt warning: “Republicans must learn to quit underestimating President Joe Biden.” It is a remarkable concession for a man who practically invented modern-day partisan combat, which allows for little concession or compromise. https://www.yahoo.com/news/newt-gingrich-praises-biden-warns-gop-against-underestimating-president-190833800.html

The European Union looks set to approve a cap on the price of Russian oil after Poland gave its backing. The plan, which stops countries paying more than $60 (€57; £48) a barrel, needed the agreement of all EU states. Poland announced its support on Friday after being reassured the cap would be kept at 5% lower than the market rate. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-63840412

Finnish PM Sanna Marin has said Europe is "not strong enough" to stand up to Russia's invasion of Ukraine on its own, and has had to rely on US support. During a visit to Australia, the leader of the pending Nato member said Europe's defences must be strengthened. "I must be brutally honest with you, Europe isn't strong enough right now," she said. "We would be in trouble without the United States." https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-63838350

President Joe Biden met with the Prince of Wales in Boston on Friday, where the two men shared “warm memories” of the late Queen Elizabeth II, according to Kensington Palace. The Prince and Princess of Wales are in Boston for the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony, an ambitious initiative founded by Prince William to help tackle some of the planet’s most pressing environmental challenges, which is scheduled for Friday. The heir to the British throne was inspired to launch the project by President John F. Kennedy’s “moonshot” speech in 1962 when he tasked the United States to push forward with space exploration. https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/02/politics/biden-prince-william-boston/index.html

U.S. job growth rose faster than expected in November as the labor market remained resilient in the face of higher interest rates, scorching-hot inflation and mounting recession fears. Employers added 263,000 jobs in November, the Labor Department said in its monthly payroll report released Friday, topping the 200,000 jobs forecast by Refinitiv economists. It marks a slight deceleration from the upwardly revised job gain of 284,000 recorded in October. The unemployment rate, meanwhile, held steady at 3.7%. https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/us-economy-adds-jobs-november-better-expected-hiring-remains-solid
