I stopped off at the bank, put 20 baht on the counter, and asked to make said deposit.  Response: "Sorry, we don't accept deposits of less than 2000 baht for fixed accounts".

I was a bit confused at first reading...I thought you had put 2,000 Bt. on the counter...then I read the post again.

I mean, come on!...did you not think you might have a problem trying to lodge 20 Bt. into a "fixed" account.

Personally, I wouldn't have the nerve to even try to lodge 20Bt. into a normal savings a/c or currant a/c.

My question is, if you use an agent how do you show the 800K being there after 90 days unless the money is physically in your account?

Not sure I understand the problem. I myself have never used an agent but do have a fixed a/c in a bank (also have a savings a/c in same bank...have a bank book for each a/c showing how much money is in each a/c. I could get the "letter" using either a/c....so what would be the problem. Would you not just get the letter the same way you got it the first time doing your extention?

  3. Again...one of those..."Can anybody name this" etc.,...My question as always is......What is the reason for wanting to know?  Even after finding out the answer.. and even if you could still remember it one week,... one month ...or one year later.....what use is the information to you.

Over my 19 years in Thailand I have seen this question come up hundreds of times about all sorts of species...and considering there are probably millions that we haven't seen yet ...it would  be impossible to remember even a fraction of their names.... So......why ask.

Power-Buy in Central Festival Mall has a very large selection. They also have a new location on Pattaya Klang, north side between Sukumvit and Foodland.

I bought a Panasonic LED model at Central and I'm very happy with it. It also doubles as a computer monitor. I strongly suggest LED over LCD, but not sure if LED is available yet in 46"

Doesn't any TV double as a compu. monitor if you can connect a HDMI cable?
