Correct. I do not receive an old age pension, but if / when tax changes are passed in Australia and / or Thailand, I may very well make changes to my finances, in which I will qualify, and apply for, an aged pension, thus, I have done my research, way passed your 1800 CL number that you keep posting. You have posted previously, and recently posted on another thread / forum you receive an aged pension, but have posted on this forum you receive a vet's pension and did your 2 years in Vet's accommodation. What a load of BS. Everyone knows you can not received both pensions. Why would you do this? You are a troll.

Do my post scare you, Olmate? No, I didn't think so, but if they did, toughen up, "Princess." Just more trolling and baiting designed to get me an AN holiday. You are a "know less" from Blackall or backa Bumfark." You have no idea. Just another one of the "I get the Thai missus to do it" for everything, whilst all you do is sit in the bar at 9am on the cheap Leo everyday. You are just a troll and haven't added any content to this thread for months.

Australian Aged Pension

Your plan covers all bases. Short stay visas will be no problem. There's always the 30 visa exempt, and the 1900 baht 1 month extension. Still better than being deemed a tax resident of Thailand, and all the BS that's coming in the future for that. -
Are you still trying to sell your cheap rubbish "kodi" aka simple android boxes "fully loaded" of course? Kodi is no a box, it's an app / program. What people decide to run it on is up to them, and their budget, but stop trying to mislead people that "kodi" only runs on a specific platform and / or hardware. So, the 343 baht box should be fine, right? I guess that means you don't get to sell your 1400 baht boxes that you pass off as "kodi boxes." A bit like riding the bicycle or scooter to pop down to the local shop, when you can afford to drive an air conditioned car. The car being a more suitable tool for all climatic conditions, and comfort. What a stupid comparison. Like I said, you get what you pay for, and not everyone is a Cheap Charlie.
-
Yeah, I do. Like I said, you get what you pay for, and not everyone is a Cheap Charlie. Why don't you recommend this android box for the OP. it's only 343 baht? By your standards, why should the OP pay 1400 baht? https://www.lazada.co.th/products/mxq-pro-box-2023-android-10-4khd-tv-box-box-ram8grom-128gb-wifi-disney-hotstar-youtube-netflix-tv-i5020260137-s21218237244.html?c=&channelLpJumpArgs=&clickTrackInfo=query%3Aandroid%2Bbox%3Bnid%3A5020260137%3Bsrc%3ALazadaMainSrp%3Brn%3A8c45031aef40258197e98eb24199c047%3Bregion%3Ath%3Bsku%3A5020260137_TH%3Bprice%3A343.36%3Bclient%3Adesktop%3Bsupplier_id%3A100189218170%3Bbiz_source%3Ah5_hp%3Bslot%3A1%3Butlog_bucket_id%3A470687%3Basc_category_id%3A5992%3Bitem_id%3A5020260137%3Bsku_id%3A21218237244%3Bshop_id%3A1976030&fastshipping=0&freeshipping=1&fs_ab=2&fuse_fs=&lang=en&location=Samut Prakan&price=343.36&priceCompare=skuId%3A21218237244%3Bsource%3Alazada-search-voucher%3Bsn%3A8c45031aef40258197e98eb24199c047%3BunionTrace%3A2ff62a9e17186849252094893e%3BoriginPrice%3A34336%3BvoucherPrice%3A34336%3BdisplayPrice%3A34336%3BsinglePromotionId%3A900000029498671%3BsingleToolCode%3AflashSale%3BvoucherPricePlugin%3A1%3BbuyerId%3A0%3Btimestamp%3A1718684925986&ratingscore=4.749478079331942&request_id=8c45031aef40258197e98eb24199c047&review=479&sale=1413&search=1&source=search&spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.1&stock=1 How does the Rockchip 3528 compare with a Core i3 or i5? Yeah, I thought so. Once again, you get what you pay for. You ask "why" well maybe the OP would like to run some Windows Apps as well. If the OP is prepared to pay a little more, he can get a mini PC that does the lot. If he's budget conscious, sure, go for a cheaper android box. I own both, because sometimes I run two screens steaming two different sports, at the same time. The mini PC's are so small now, the OP may consider getting one because it can do everything, and they have higher specs. Different if they were 20,000 baht, but many of them as a lot cheaper now, as you say, only four times more the cost.
-
First of all, the thread heading is "Kodi Boxes." Kodi is software, not hardware, and it can run on different platforms. As people across the world invest more by upgrading to larger 4k TV's, sound bars, storage for hundreds of movies, and streaming of movies (Netflix etc) and sports, many have upgraded their little Android boxes that have served them so well to mini PC's with higher specs. How many people repurposed an old desktop or laptop into a media player? Some of the well known Android box manufacturers also started making mini PC's to diversify their product range. It depends on the needs and budget of the owner, but he may consider another device to a 1400 baht Android box that can do everything the Android box can do, but way more, and a lot faster.

Good plan. You will be able to sit back and watch the chaos unfold, knowing none of it involves you, and you are not exposed to a tax liability in Australia and in Thailand. -
I'm in Pattaya. There is a "agency" on every corner here. The agent I use is very professional. I can't complain with their service or price. I use them for everything because I don't like dealing with any Thai authorities, and I don't need the grief. I've never had a problem with immigration or the land transport office using an agent. Happy to pay the agent, and will continue to do so.

KODI is an app, not a piece of hardware, like a box..........remember? I have hardware that can run both. An Android box can only run Android. You do know Kodi can run on Windows, right? Windows can run Kodi also, so why not mention it. As I said, you get what you pay for. The specs of a SFF PC are higher than a 1400 baht Android box, and offer more options to the user / owner. Yeah, and a mini PC can do it all, and better. There are many to chose from. Here's a random one from Lazada. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/t9-intel-plus-n1008gb16gb-ddr5-256512gb1tb-windows-11-pro-hd-mi-i4870913151.html?spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.29.194962b8qg5Qk5 Why don't you post the specs of the 1400 baht android boxes you are selling and we'll compare them?

Did it occur to you I may have Kodi on my Laptop and on my phone?

When traveling, rarely movies or Netflix. Mostly live sport. Different set up when at home.

Can't you see what's going on in the world? The BS the world was fed back in the 60's about The Domino Theory and Communism and Vietnam is actually happening in 2024. Russia invads Ukraine. China sizing up Taiwan. China buying up small and / or poor countries, through massive debt. Go and research how much money the US spend on R&D for defense, and then how much of that technology they sell to the world, many of them allies. Any idea how much one missile costs? How many have they sold to Israel since the Hamas attack? How many have they sold to Ukraine. They are not for free. War is big business. It's predicted Russia's economy will grow more than all developed economies this year. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-68823399 There will be a time when the economic war ends and the bullets and bombs start flying, because of the economic war. Yes, western governments p*ssed away all their citizen's money, over decades, but the when the debt becomes crippling, then the war will start. We are leaving a nice mess for our kids and grand kids. -
When traveling, I have a laptop and a Google Chromecast. All bases covered, and the Chromecast is smaller than an Android box. Can cast to the TV with the laptop or the phone.
-
You get what you pay for. If all you want to pay is 1400 baht, that's fine. This little PC does the lot for me, Windows, and Android, all in one, and is also a back-up in case my main PC sh*ts itself. I have all MS Windows options and all Android options through the emulator, all in a box close to the size of an Android box. Can you run Windows on your 1400 baht Android box? No, I didn't think so.
-
Nothing wrong with that, but I just asked the question to another member, but for the consideration of the general forum, just how much are you prepared to tolerate before seeking out the services of an agent? It's different for everyone, but just how many knock backs, return trips, paperwork etc will you tolerate before you actually wished you went to an agent in the first place?
-
I am speaking in general now, not just for a bank account, but for how long should one get f*cked around for before an agent is "the last resort?" Just how many "can not" and "need one more photo copy" and "need to do this paper" and "need doctor certificate" and "need Certificate of Residence" and "need TM30" and "line full come back tomorrow" etc etc, then, there's the waiting in queues, multiple times, sometime in the hot sun and / or on your feet, not great for the elderly, and then there's the transportation to get around for all of this. Many rely on public transport, which comes at a cost. It's all designed to push foreigners onto agents. I defy any member to state they have never been frustrated, to the point they thought authorities were doing it on purpose. I don't condone corruption, but sometimes, for one's mental and physical health, and for simply getting the job done, and occasionally even saving some money, pay an agent.

Already ended during the last military government control who aligned Thailand with China. It wasn't so much that the USA "broke up" with Thailand, it was more Thailand "broke up" with the USA. A divorce that may come back to haunt them in the future. -

Yes, many people skip an OS and do every second OS. Eg. XE, 7, 10. I'm normally an early adopter of tech, but not with MS OS's. After getting stung with Vista, now wait for every second OS. I'll be waiting for 12 before leaving 10. -
Done the same. Went for a Small Form Factor (SFF) PC with half decent specs. Tiny little thing with a lot of grunt under the hood. Packs way more punch than an Android box, and gives a lot more options. I run Blue Stacks, which is an Android emulator, so have the best of both worlds in the one device.

Been a long time since I was here for any length of time on tourist visas, but where do you get "60 day visa exempts (x4)" from? The 60 days visa exempt. I think can be extended for 1 month for 2000 baht, but don't quote me on this. That's 90 days per entry on a 60 visas exempt, if you want it. I was under the impression you would do, basically, 6 months consecutive in Australia and 6 months consecutive in Thailand. I gather this is not correct. Just be aware, Thai tax residency is the calendar year, and if / when the proposed changes pass in Australia, for Australian tax residency it's our financial year.
