  1. Remember when Tripadvisor shut down the KT page after the recent murders? Someone is definitely getting bought off.

Tripadvisor reviews are not verified and anyone can write anything about anywhere, good, bad or indifferent...

    sorry you are wrong

there are moderators on tripadvisor the same as this thai visa site

so you cannot write freely whatever you want

Yes, it probably has certain words that trigger a moderation. Profanities etc.

    yes profanities of course

but one is not able to post reviews multiple times [theres 90 day limit]

so myself for example goes to a resturant every week however i can only post a review every 90 days [using same email address]

you cannot promote yourself directly [your post will be removed ]

owners are able to reply to all reviews and post thier responce and give thier side of the story in case of negative reviews

so its not just a free for all

  3. It seems that our commenter(s) here have much in common with the average Thai, and have no working understanding of the Nazi movement, or the policy of requiring their own citizens (of Jewish decent) ... to wear the Yellow Star of David)

None of the people with the wrist bands are to be stripped of their material possessions, thrown from their homes, herded into ghettoes, starved and used in salve labor camps, and eventually systematically exterminated.

It is a rather long stretch to employ this historical reference, in very poor taste, inaccurate and disrespectful to both Holocaust victims, and Thailand's decision makers.

We can debate the efficacy of this "wristband" idea ... but with the world community (rightly) complaining about the horrid human trafficking record in SEA, this is their idea of a quick and "Bureaucratic Lite" solution.

Yes, one could forge the wristbands, but the wearer would then face dire consequences when that is discovered. (Note to the seller of fake wristbands, these people drop dime at the count of three)

I know it is impossible for anyone to do anything in Thailand that does not solicit swift derision from the All Knowing Thai Visa Thai Bashing Boardroom above the Clouds.

Would any of you boy geniuses like to climb down from Cloud 9 and tell us how the Thai Government can quickly and easily begin to track those migrants who are allowed to cross the border much more easily than any Farang Expat?

Do you understand that there is genuine fear in the hearts of these people to be found here without proper documentation, and this Wristband thing ... just might get a lot of folks to register pronto - presto?

As for the human traffickers, it certainly might be a dark day to be found with a dozen "Sorry, no wristband" folks in your van.

But, I forgot. EVERY Thai idea is a bad one.

Funny, seems like Thai Visa is long on whining, and very short on solutions.

(PS: Do you people understand that in the Fortune 500 companies, it is Standard Operating procedure for every emplyee to wear a photo ID around thier neck at all times? I worked for IBM , and you could not move around your building, or the corporate campus without one. That applies to most big companies.

What they are saying is "Who are you?" "Do you have the right to be here/" Do you have the right to WORK HERE?" ETC.

That does not make them the SS ... it makes them smart and responsible people who want to know who is on their property. )

Wha a collection of Chicken Littles this site has become !!!

    agree

when a farang comes to thailand you get a visa number in your passport

you are then registered by immigration

if you get a work permit you get a number and registered with labour department

when you start a bussiness you get a tax number and registered by revenue department

you are required by law already to carry ID in thailand

so what is the difference to this wrist band apart from it is publicly visible [instead of being in your pocket/wallet ]

  4. make the same way as a swimming pool

you can spray on new clean concrete a product like crystal lock /or radcon

locks the cement molecules together [or something along those lines]

then , tank the structure [render/plaster the structure with water proof plaster

then water proof the wall/floor with your choice of waterproofing product

fill with water and test before final finish

    if done correctly no leaks

    good luck

  5. you mention that your trucking in loads of fill

you shouldn't build on top of fill as it takes time to settle properly [years]

your foundations should be on the solid ground level now

so you should excavate into your new fill down to old level so you get little [or no ] movement settling after construction

also your concrete foundations wont be worried by termites

    good luck

  6. I've often wondered why a Chinese or Russian group did not buy a large chunk of land in, say Krabi or closeby, and build "Chinaland" or "Russialand" complete with their own hotels, restaurants, beach clubs, supermarkets, clubs and do what they like.

Someone with money and influence could schedule flights to Krabi and shuttle their people back and forth from the airport and they could make the bulk of the money rather than share it with the Thai hotels, restaurants and bars.

...and they could still have a fat clinic if they wanted.

they are doing this already, along with the koreans and other natnalities

they set up thier own jewelly shops , massage parlours , tour operators , restaurants etc etc

like the koreans who pay for a package tour in thier own country [no money into thailand ]

then come here and use vouchers to shop in thier own shops, have massage in thier own shops , go on tour with thier own operators eat thier own food

and very little income for any locals

they do this in many countries , not just thailand

  7. just had a look at thier website

doesnt appear to be TAT liscenced [or not advertised]

ive heard that without any complaints to the TAT that nothing is being done to make companies comply

nor is there any insurance valid without TAT registration

would have thought a big operator like this would advertise thier TAT membership

also dont understand why they say 12 year old thai girl

foreign news reporting israeli girl , and if reporters dont know , then why not write simply 12 year old girl ????

  8. we have a bio septic tank system[for toilets] and a waste processor [insinkerator]

    in our kitchen

which means just about zero waste from my property

aluminium cans are recycled , tins/steel recycled, glass , plastic etc recycled , paper/cardboard recycled

very very little reason left for rubbish but lack of education

and lack of long term thinking

governments just want your money today and samui municipality is the same

  9. hi

    totally agree with above

i never snorkel with a life jacket

my wife does as shes not a good swimmer

so dont go blaming some safety regulation [or not ] blan blah blah

its personal choice as theres enough jackets usually for all

i also choose not to wear a helmet, and i dont expect others just to not hit me or injure because of my choice

i expect them not to hit me or injure me weather or not im wearing a helmet

what a ridiculous attitude to take while driving /riding

  10. you may have answered your own headline

Just a warning to all those who perhaps are not on high alert that one must be very carefull.

the roads are not dangerous ????? its the road users that are the problem

all who drive should be on high alert and carefull at all times no matter where you are in the world

  11. lets find out who the lawyer was [so we can avoid them]

and the tessabahn must have issued building permits

he must have been prosecuted as company director because foreigners cannot own land in thier name

will the state honour any legal lease thats been done ?

further prosecuted due to real estate being a prohibited business for alien residents

just about all real estate agents on samui are foreigners ????

  12. had a friend who did this

the school just kept making excuses and delayed things for close to a year

when the person left the school refused to pay monies owing

teacher couldnt really complain as was technically working illegally

sounds like a con to me

  13. like many others on samui we see these idiots all the time

mostly speeding and overtaking into on coming traffic or forcing you off the road

take a close look at their number plates and you will see that they are not legally allowed to carry passengers of any type , which means they carry no insurance

foolish tourists and hotels/agencies selling these trips need an attitude adjustment

whens the general sending the troops to samui ?
