I finally bought a new Astral VX-3 chlorinator on ebay at around TB 20,000.
It was hand carried by a friend from the US so no duty.
It is up and running the only complaint is the salt residue on my terra cotta tiles around the pool.
you have only just installed it and there's a salt residue stain??????????
me thinks there's already a problem

hi all
just been to TSP a few days ago and think asking around 33,000 for basic model [not with PH sensor and auto pump]
after that the skys the limit depending on how automated you want to go
i bought a pump thru [tsp]mr MOO and got 5 years out of it without a problem in that time ,
on my second pump now in 12 years so doing well

any of those designs should not pose a problem for an architect
they are pretty basic designs with very little difficultly
-
you get usually what you pay for
however if you have been told that you are getting top notch work and receive only the normal average rubbish , then you are going to be rather upset
both methods of construction [in this forum] are normal depending on the span of the beam and /or the weight /loading of the design
both methods will work fine if your engineer has done his/her job

so all the taxis/tuk tuks are not local phuket thai people ?
where did all the phuket thais go then?
mmmmmn forgot that they got rich from the foreigners [using thai nominee companies]
the headline itself just had me in hysterical laughter without reading any of the article

just exactly what did you ask the contractor? surely you should be asking for the approved plans and cause a real stink about it?
i did ask the contractor about the building permit [im in construction business myself ]
a copy of the building permit is supposed to be avaliable on the site , however its been withheld from my viewing by instructions from the owner [according to the contractor ]
there are many many illegal things not being done/followed with construction in thailand [tit]
many many buildings are started on samui without the building permit being granted [in the process its called] just the same as the cheques in the mail
-
its a thai owned company as you all know foreigners cant own land
the construction company is following orders from the owner so its not really thier problem
also myself and 2 other land owners went to the tessabahn some years ago and filed 3 separate complaints about another neighbours construction ......result = not a thing , not even a visit to the property , simply because there was no exchange of currency , and very simply my neighbour has more money than me so its a no win situation in this country
anybody want some land with partial sea views ?
seems to be my only option

as far as im aware all upvc windows and doors are made to fit the existing gap and have to be prepared in the factory so there are no leaking joins [compared to being made on the site which the aluminium [locals do]and will leak in the future sometime
the UPVC company we used came down and measured the gaps/ openings first and then prepared all the frames in thier factory
they were bought down to samui and installed , and it was a difficult [steep] property as well
also you need level and vertical openings for a good fit with about 5 mm tolerance
[so many construction companies cant use this system as they are not accurate enough with thier construction ]
but the locals are extremely well versed in the use of copious amounts of silicone to fix any and all bad workmanship
what they used before silicone was invented im not sure

hi
should have not been a problem to put screens on the outside
if you are using the local guys
however locals have difficulty thinking outside the square , so something new to them is always [can not or not work]
i would have got 3 differing quotes from differing locals first
i have contacts for local alunminium guys who will work to your plans
PM me if you havent committed yet
good luck

why dont they relocate all the jetskis to the lake , great bussiness for them and then others wont have to listen to them on the beach , and little chance of killing someone as there wont be too many swimmers around either

1.59M for 27.5 meter squared? i'll pass lol
in Bangkok 27.5 sqm would be 2.75 million
so for thai investors 1.6 is a great deal
this will sell and im sure they wont be building on the water line

according to discussions with the neighbour and contractor a few months ago
spoke to the contractor yesterday when i arrived home and asked when the plan was changed ?
reply = about 2 weeks ago
Think you must get your ass in gear and go ask some questions and take along a solicitor. Perhaps a ''back hander'' was given to alter the plans.
back handers are just about always needed for building plans on samui
thats part of the problem
we can make an official complaint [ive done it before ]however without a back hander , no body follows up your complaint
and if they do follow up your issue then a simple backhander can make it go away
if indeed there is no building permit in place Now for the addition , there soon will be [maybe with another backhander to speed up the process]
this is just a moral issue
why block your neighbors view ? when it wasnt necessary , nor in your original plan?
just doesnt figure

would be great if i could afford to build up 12 metres but this was a retirement plan with a little income from renting a couple of sea view bungalows
seems we will have to lower our living and eating standards

hi guys
the UPVC windows from WR vinyel [pattaya ]was about 5000 to 7000 per sq metre delivered and installed
thats about the average price for [better] quality aluminum on samui
cheap aluinium goes for around 3000 to 4000 psm
ive got huge aluminium sliders on a very windy area and have no leaks if installed correctly

have a look at the headland in the distance
its the same in both pictures
the bungalows are mine [which ive rented with views for many years ]
and if you add 3 metres we will be looking at a block wall within the next few months
very difficult to rent without views
they were supposed to finish at the level they are at now [which was very reasonable ]
however they have decided to add another level so this now becomes a floor and not a roof anymore
-
came home today to find this view from my rental bungalowthe neighbour just decided to add an additional 3 metres to his property [previously our ground level]Tongson villas once had fantastic views over tongson bay on the island of Samuihowever it seems that as development is moving at a frenzied pace on the island the wealtly foreingers dont care about thier neighboursand the government isnt doing anything about it either , by handing out building permits without checking the environmental impact[or the neighbours ]its a dog eat dog scenario of total greed over morals[attached are before and now pictures of a once great view , where many have come on honeymoon ]and alas theres still another 3 metres to gopromises from the developer about guaranteed views have just dissapered ,with little [or no] comeback avaliable to protect ones investmentwho would want to invest in thailand after this ????just dont figure does it
-
its the taxis filling up the parking [not customers]
-
why not go further and state/enforce that all taxis must use their metres
metred taxi stands everywhere
so people are assured that if they go there they will get a metred service
many hotels do this already as part of thier counter service
but anyway a great starting point [the airport and many peoples first impression are important ]
please please come to Samui soon

do a search for windows Pattaya[WR vinyl comes to mind ]
sunparadise are not really upvc [but coated aluminium and very costly , but very good]
you could also try Sunflex here on samui
cheers

when they finish there maybe they come and ticket all the taxis illegally parked on samui
then maybe the shops will actually get more customers
