Be aware of box jelly fish - by some mentioned as the most poisonous creature on Earth - especially in calm weather and after rain, or during soft rain, some experts warns.
Sadly, a 9-year-old Israeli boy has died after he was stung by a box jellyfish while swimming at Haad Rin beach on Koh Phangan even he was given immediate first aid and rushed to hospital...
You can read more in Thai language at Mathicon Online'a article (29th August 2021) HERE.
7 years ago we there was a similar sad accident with a French boy, The Guardian article from August 2014 is HERE.
In case of being stung by Box Jelly Fish, some beaches on the islands have emergency posts with vinegar - looks for example like in my photo hereunder - vinegar is the best instant cure while waiting for an ambulance...
Here is an emergency first aid guide in both Thai and English...
Samui Rescue might also be a source for instant ambulance help, their phone number is 077 421 444.
This is what a Box Jellyfish looks like in Wikipedia...

TAT will have the correct answer about actual number of quality tourists, but there might also be others arriving, as a number of ASEAN NOW-members - and members of other forums - have posted that they used Phukets Sandbox as alternative to alternative quarantine...????

Do farangs carry a paper copy of their passport or even the actual passport in some sort of case, or is their some credit card sized ID format that suffices as legal ID?
Copy of you passport will normally do; i.e. the name & ID-page, and the page with your valid entry-stamp or extension of stay. You can have the photocopy laminated, or just use one of the water tight bags to hang around the neck.
If you have Thai drivers license then that is also a valid ID, it includes either your passport number or your Thai ID-number, if you are registered...????

A Thai friend of mine says that her boss has ordered all employees at his chain restaurant in a mall here in Chiang Mai to be vaccinated or else be docked 400 baht/week.
I'm pretty sure this is illegal, but what say you?
Seems to be the trend many places...
If a staff member is not vaccinated, the employer might need ongoing negative Covid-tests for that staff member, so fair enough to deduct from the salary, if that's the case.

If that is true then at that rate they should be able to vaccinate all 45 million unvaccinated Thais in 2.5 months!
It's more than true, it was 900,000+ yesterday...

I think a lot of foreigners have applied already for a vaccine because no pfizer or moderna available.. Now the application is open for foreigners without any vaccination yet.. yes of course If you have paid for Moderna you don't apply for Pfizer and if you had Sinovac, Sinopharm because there is nothing else, Besides even Astra Zeneca was a problem for a foreigner. Now you can't apply anymore if you 1 of these.. So 54.000 looks a bit but in fact it the ones who finally will get something
Yes, but I still read postings from farang-aliens complaining about no vaccine is available for them, both here and in another forum, so 75 minus 55 (54 rounded up) would mean that there are Phizer vaccine enough for another about 20,000 people.

I am struggling to understand the numbers here.
Accumulated cases since April last year 434.
Accumulated cases since 18/7 314+38+98 = 450
What am I missing? Surely the April 2020 number should be higher than 18/7?
It's my impression that all numbers are copied from an official statement in Thai language. I share Nicha's graphics, as they are in English, then I don't need to figure out anything in Thai from Google Translate. Perhaps the Thai saying, "don't think too much", fit's well here...????

Some private villas are also receiving benefit from the Phuket ex-sandbox guests.
At the moment it is more of a blip rather than a hike, but early days.
Comment from one guest - 'Oh there's the sun. We have had nothing but rain for 14 days.'
It rainy season on Phuket in July and August.

Here again me confused
If youngsters (except the ill) can happily produce antibodies - why give them a jab (with possible side effects) to do this for them?
Yours hopelessly lost and loosing the will to drink my coffee
So help me please I am thirsty
Young people are unfortunately hit hard by the Delta-variant, so it makes good sense to vaccinate them, and Pfizer is approved from 12 years and up...????

It's my understanding, from reading the news, that high risk groups already have been sorted out; including foreigners that are offered Pfizer, but not many foreigners seemed to register - only 54,000 have registered out of 75,000 available double-doses donated by USA - or perhaps there are not many foreigners living in the country...????

I appreciate alternatives to meat are coming on the menu, but don't call it meat - i.e. "Plant-Based Chicken" something like "Pop", or whatever - it's not meat. And don't forget that some vegans simply loose appetite just they hear, or see, the word meat, or any variants like beef, chicken, or pork.
If you don't want meat then just call it what it is, i.e. "Plant-based Pop"; we don't call meat for "chicken-based Vegetables"...????

I did not register because I have no chance to get Pfizer in the nearest future as I am below 60yo and have no underlying medical conditions.
So why should I share my very personal information with another lame website protected by a password like "admin" or "123456" if protected at all?
Seems like a lot under 60 registered without underlying medical conditions, from the article...
Of these 11,760 were aged 60 and over and 42,985 were under 60.257 were pregnant women and 3,947 had one or more of seven underlying health conditions.

I am now receiving US Social Security to Bangkok Bank. The codes in my bankbook are KD FTT. Are these proper codes that would qualify for an extension of stay?
FTT is short for "Foreign Telegraphic Transfer", so that code qualifies as prof of the foreign transfer that you might when applying for extension of stay...????

I can get Sinovac today, followed by AstraZ.
If I take it, is it still safe to get the Moderna, which I've paid half, in October?
Please report back with a post in the forum about any side effect symptoms in for example November...????
Sinovac followed by AZ seems to be an excellent alternative to no vaccination, however how soon you can boost with another type might still be fairly unknown; however, a boost after 6-12 month seems necessary according to scientists being quoted in recent news articles.
Sinovac is based on dead virus, AZ is a vector-type vaccine, and Moderna is a mRNA vaccine, so three different types. I got no idea if it's a benefit or not, you however should get two jabs of Moderna, so a full vaccination; there has been a few stories in the news about people receiving multiple vaccines, a Thai doctor heading for work in Canada got four jabs. You can compare the vaccines and read more HERE...????

Initially the news storied talked about 150,000 doses of Pfizer were set aside for foreigners - i.e. 75,000 people with two jabs each - and at the same time the forum seemed to be loaded with post from foreign people complaining about that they could not get vaccination. Then appeared news stories with that some 20,000 people had been registered and a call to foreigners to register, little later the news stories mentioned that around 40,000 had registered, and now 54,000.
I'm surprised that not more have registered, or is it so that this is the number of resident foreigners interested in vaccination...????

But isn't it ironic that they brought in the new rule of having the 800k in the bank for 3 months after your extension to STOP the use of agents for visa renewals but now there are MORE using agents because of this.
I don't think it's going away anytime soon, however non-legitimate it is.
How is it known that "more using agents", are there any statistics available..?

Agents can take care of the lack of funds for you, and is the method preferred by Immigration!
Depending on where you stay, agent are not the legitimate way to extend one's permission to stay; I would not count on agents in the long run.

Good to hear that insurance can be started 70+ … that takes away the pressure. Personally, I’m not interested in insurance at all … I self-insure whenever I can and that’s worked well so far. I’m only concerned about what’s legally required by Thai government for visa extension.Likely I’ll need to go the marriage route … we have a tiny home already built on her land near Uttaradit so living costs will be low but it will be a stretch coming up with a lazy 800k, so I hope the 400k option is still there next year.
Anyhow. Thanks again for the informative post … and especially for sharing the reasoning behind your personal choices.
The risk of a mandatory insurance makes me seriously consider at least the LMG 400k+40k baht insurance with 200k baht deductible for 16,900 baht a year from age 76 (sign up not later than 75), it's only 1,409 baht a month so it should be affordable for everyone, and then you have an approved insurance under the mandatory retirement plan; it might be extremely difficult, or very expensive, to sign up to anything when older than 75 years.
If something more serious happens you have the extra 200k baht in insurance for only 8.45 percent in annual fee, and it covers till you are 100 years old; if one is getting older than that, every day might feel like a miracle; however, miracles do sometimes happen...????

How is this possible if AZ is in short supply. How does the hospital know if they will have the necessary vaccine at that time?
They know that they have the agreed number of doses - was it 6 million a month? - the problem was the extra doses that the Thai government thought they also could have. It just takes little planing, and should your second jab be moved a few days or a week, it should not be a big deal. I'm scheduled for 19th September, and I don't worry...????
