20 + years ago a partnership Ltd. (3 shareholders) did not need to show the money, a company Ltd. (7 shareholders) had to show a bankbook.  Don't know if it is still like this (CNX)

It has changed, today you need only 3 shareholders, but they (Thai shareholders) need to show that they have funds to buy their shares. Old companies with proxy-shareholders were given a (quite long) time frame to get everything in order with real shareholders.

Your experience or answer would be very much appreciated. (It's very tough to find another Thai lawyer to speak with, as I am not in Thailand)

2 million baht paid in company capital for the first foreigner's work permit plus 4 Thai employees.

To my knowledge it used to be 1 million baht extra company capital plus 4 Thai employees for each additional foreigner's work permit, but might be that it's now 2 million baht extra capital for each additional work permit.

Your minimum 51 % Thai shareholder(s) might need to show source of funds for their shares, and be aware that registered company capital might need to be paid in full. The authorities are more strict now, it's not easy anymore to register proxy shareholders that don't have funds.

She said 316, or 7% of those who died had received a dose of AstraZeneca vaccine more than two weeks before falling ill and 118, or 2.6% had their first AstraZeneca dose more than four weeks before their illness.

For more accurate comparison the percentage calculation might need a factor with how many percent of the total population that have been vaccinated with AZ, i.e. was that rate more than 7 percent almost a month ago, i.e. two weeks before people got ill and some further time, perhaps a week or two more, before they died...????

Perhaps they accidentally got an invitation...

If a relative were to book the flight for me with their credit card, would this be a problem? I have read stories that some airlines require you to show the credit card that your flight was booked on upon check in at the airport. Or is that airline specific possibly?

Some airlines requires proof of credit card upon check-in - however, you might not be asked for it - if you cannot show the credit card used to pay for the ticket, you might not be allowed to check-in (it probably don't apply to self-check-in on machines...????). You can find details with potential airlines for your flight, or on the booking platforms.

If the account holder is dead intestate who will be obliged to inform the bank? Plenty of time to reduce the account.....

Who can legally reduce the account, if not in a shared name, or someone with some kind of authorized power from the account owner?

Authorities will be alerted about death of a foreigner, and so will the foreigner's home country embassy. Bank accounts are recorded with passport number and/or Thai ID-number, so easy to find out.

It's so hard to follow the latest.  Are there (or would there be in October) flights from Phuket to Samui to do the 7+7?

Could I do Phuket and then Koh Tao?  Or would I need to do the 7 all in Samui?

    Thanks!

Bangkok Airways resumes domestic flights from Phuket August 25th, but what might happen in October is impossible to say now. The pinned thread about transport to and from the islands is better for you to ask questions and find answers, this one is about what's happening on Samui.

    Is this serious?

Hotels are practically giving away rooms, but if you want to come as part of the sandbox, the lowest price for 7 days is 35,000 baht?

Yes, after Samui-standard - it's only 5,000 baht a day - and it even includes full board...

    Amenities / Features

    • RT-PCR (3 times) provided by Koh Samui Hospital
    • Transfer from Airport to Baan Hin Sai Resort (1 times)
    • Welcome Beverages and Snacks one time upon arrival in room
    • 3 meals/day for 7 Days, Daily Breakfast on Day 8, and 10% discount of food and beverage at the Restaurant
    • 4 bottles of drinking water per day
    • In-room coffee & tea making
    • In-room microwave
    • Welcome Amenities
    • WIFI internet in rooms and all areas
    • Cable TV/International channels, Netflix Available for phone

I never forget when I checked the off-season bargain price for "bed & breakfast" at Hotel Four Seasons Samui, 35,000 baht would buy you little less than eight hours there...????

Do companies like above have their own cables or do they try to sell other ISPs services for a special price or how does that work?

I've had an odd ISP in the beginning of my time in LOS, they used cables from (now closed) TT&T.

If me, I would choose a majord ISP like the one you are happy with, i.e True, or 3BB or TOT; I use the latter and am happy, 3BB was not good service in my area, but others have excellent experience with them.

I pay 590 baht a month +vat for 250/250 Mbit fiber with TOT, including router, no set-up fees where I live.

As a Thai, he has pointed out that in the event of my demise, the SCB bank keeps my money unless I can get it out, or if I have a fatal accident. He is not sure that the 800,000b is covered by my UK will, even though it is part of my estate.

To my knowledge banks will freeze accounts upon death until the estate is settled.

Best advice is always to make two last wills, one covering assets in one's home country - i.e. UK in your case - following the home country's law, and nother last will in Thailand covering assets here, and following Thai law. Write the conditions for the retirement deposit in the Thai will.

Making a Thai will can be a very simple procedure, and verified at the local "amphor" district office. You can read about it in the book Thai Law for Foreigners, or search in ASEAN Now forum, there are several threads here with information about making a Thai last will.

I'm telling him that he don't have to worry because I personal don't think they will make it mandatory but that's only my personal opinion. But of course I can't tell for sure and maybe you can't too. But what you think?

He said he heard when Thailand will open up again that you need to be vaccinated. Is that true. ?

I'm sorry if this topic had discussed before.

    Thank you for your answers.

Opinion only: I don't think that any country will make vaccination mandatory, including Thailand - some people cannot be vaccinated due to health issues - but non vaccinated people might need to quarantine when travelling between countries or regions, i.e. for example US and EU could each be considered as a region, so travelling within US or EU wont need vaccination or quarantine. Also, some countries might make boble-agreements due to low number of infections, and thereby no quarantine needed for non vaccinated inhabitants.
