    .any ideas?

We buy most seeds online, but some local mum & dad shops sells similar seeds at same price (but no freight added), but their assortment is limited - I could for example only find tarragon on Lazada, you can also try to search on Shopee, they are sometimes cheaper than Lazada - HomoPro's little garden section might also sell seeds...????

What? .... Check your facts my friend. I'm sorry you had a bad experience but I can guarantee most Brits don't boil their bacon.

British food is no better or worse than most Northern European countries... Germany, Scandinavia etc

The best food in Europe is in Italy, Spain and France. End of discussion. Close thread.

I presume you are not in a humorous mood today, I sincerely excuse if I have offended you and British food...????

As I understand it the government said it will "fully reopen" in October but have any dates been officially decided yet? It's getting close to October 1st and I'm not willing to stay another winter in the US waiting for Thailand to reopen.

Normally I'm very careful with predicting the future, but I'll give it a try. I'm afraid you only have two choices:

    1) Either stay another utterly cold winter in US...

    or

    2) Use the Phuket Sandbox for entry - which soon will give an 7+7 option - and commute after two weeks to wherever you wish to spend your winter in Land Of Smiles.

It's possible to enter, and avoid winter...????

Can't beat a well made Fish and Chips, a Sunday Roast or a Shepherd's Pie. I think even the French do something similar called Hachis Parmentier d'Agneau. Smoked Haddock Chowder on a cold day.

Don't know where you are from, but every country has some foods that others won't like. Each to their own.

Us non-British can (easily) beat that, but you British folks might not enjoy our excellent gourmet alternatives...???? - mind you that you spoil our high quality Danish bacon by boiling it, whilst we fry it to a delicious crispy state, whilst you complains that we spoil it by burning it - and so we are so different, even we're not that far apart...????

Another thing we continental foreigners don't understand is the love for 57 varieties of oven baked beans...

However, I still enjoy a full English breakfast, even with boiled bacon...????????

  6. In the beginning of the pandemic there were some observations published in the news that smokers were slightly protected against Covid-19 - actually little surprising - but I never saw any follow up stories.

I tried to find some sources, and it seems like it's been a misunderstanding...

A number of recent studies have found low percentages of smokers among COVID-19 patients, causing scientists to conclude that smokers may be protected against SARS-CoV-2 infection. National and international media were interested in this story and we soon began receiving questions about this topic in general practice. In this article, we shed light on the process that resulted in the misinterpretation of observational research by scientists and the media. We also point out the methodological flaws of various studies on which hasty conclusions were based. Finally, we address the role of primary healthcare providers in mitigating the consequences of erroneous claims about a protective effect of smoking.

Can I use evidence of a dedicated fixed deposit account with a balance of >USD 100k to fulfil the insurance requirement?

No, you need an insurance. You can find more information HERE on the official Covid-19 Insurance-site, where you also can buy an approved $100,000 Covid-insurance, or get a third party Covid-insurance approved. The insurance is going to be valid for the length of your stay...????

Here comes my question: what are my options, shall I set up a ltd cny in Thailand in my wife's name as main shareholder and pay ourselves dividends, or use an umbrella cny? I would be based in Thailand more than 183 days per year so domiciled there.

You would still need some Thai employees for a work permit. If it's a partnership limited with your wide you only need two, and your wife can be on of them, and 1 million baht in registered capital; if it's a normal company limited with 3 shareholders you need 4 Thai employees, and 2 million baht in registered shareholder capital.

For taxation income tax might be better than paying company tax and dividend tax for the first 2 million baht, i.e. up to 25 percent income tax with the full rate only from 1,000,001 baht to 2,000,000 baht. Salary is deducted as expense from the company's profit.

Company tax is 20 percent - 30 percent if the company has a lot of profit - and dividend tax is 10 percent, so "salary" paid out as dividend will be "income taxed" by 28 percent (i.e. 100 minus 20% = 80 minus 10% = 72).

Take 2 million baht income as example:

As work income (wife has own income), the tax is 325,000 baht.

As dividend, the company tax and withholding tax together are 560,000 baht.

It will be worth having your wife as employed - you need two in the company - and let her have an income, the first 160,000 baht are tax exempt, and the tax rates begin with 5 percent. You can find a Thai income tax calculator HERE.

Have you considered to keep your UK limited company?

Check with the Double Taxation Agreement between UK and Thailand about dividend taxes in UK, it would probably be free from income tax in Thailand, if already taxed in UK.

You are allowed to live from your savings. Foreign income is only income taxable in Thailand if the foreign income is transferred into Thailand during the same year as it's earned, the following year it's considered savings, and savings are free from income tax; i.e. if you UK company pays it's annual dividend in December, and you transfer the money in January the following year, it's tax free savings...????
