60 plus countries are already fully open for tourism, without any restrictions. People are already forgotting Thailand. The longer they wait, the longer the re-start will take. I do not imply tourism will not be in industry here. But, the numbers will likely be 15% of what they were before. Not enough to support the industry.
A number of the major European tourist destinations recently changed to re-imply restrictions due to Covid's Delta-variant makes the spread out of control - there have been European news report about unhappy guests that wished to go home, some even tested positive, and were placed in quarantine, unable to go anywhere - and some countries reintroduced home-quarantine for people returning from the "former" fully open tourists sites...????
A lot of Europeans seems to have second thought about traveling, nobody wish their valuable vacation spoiled; valuable mainly in time, but also in cost.
Travelling is difficult during a pandemic, and travelling also spreads a virus outbreak, which was the reason why the Covid-virus originally infected Europe, it spreading from mainly Italy and skiing destinations in the Alps.
In my view - both with and without crystal ball - I don't think Thailand is, or will be, forgotten, but Land of Smiles is not a hot Top-10 item at the moment on Westerner's wish list. Also due to, that Thailand is not a cheap destination due to the long flight, and today's expectations of little more luxury during a holiday than when staying at home. The tourist boom in the later past was not caused by modest backpackers heading for a bamboo hut on a deserted Bounty-style beach with bonfire-evening get togethers in moonshine, but due to people seeking a dream vacation in high-end luxury, which also the number of many-star resorts in Thailand indicates. Samui has been mentioned as the place in Thailand with the highest density of luxury hotels.

KhunPer. Do you know what is the Durian Cluster? Not seen that one before?
There are many people selling Durian off the back of pick up trucks around the island at the moment. Would be good to know where to avoid. The GF is always buying it. ????
Unfortunately "no", I was as surprised as you - i'm however not scared, I always stay far away from Durians - but it seems like @Tropicalevogot the answer...????

Great that there are many arrivals, and the Sandbox is progressing well with about 20,000 arrivals in 1½ month only - according to the authorities - keep up the excellent work, only another 100,000 arrivals are needed for the next 1½ month to reach the predicted target...????????

Predicting is difficult, especially about the future, but since I was allowed to peek into another member's valuable antique crystal ball, I got the impression that TAT's "worse case" scenario for 2022 is the most reliable of the three options...????

But, nearly everyone I spoke to on Samui, and Phuket over the last five years said income was way, way down, with the majority Chinese, Indian and Malaysian tourists.
To my knowledge, those complaining about lower business are the same as those that did not adjust their business plan (enough) to the change in visitors, i.e. a lot more Western families with children and Western couples, instead of singles, plus numerous prefer to stay in pool villas instead of hotels.
Others have increased business, and expanded. I see a number that use the Covid-lockdown to refurbish, and even expand their business. They probably use a different model of crystal ball than a 260 years old Romanian antiquity - I would love to have one of those...???? but they are hard to find at an affordable price...???? - however, I'm not saying their CB-brands are better, just relaying the facts I notice...????

Should the prospective buyer really want to buy the property, have we got a leg to stand on?
What do your rent contract say?
A rent period under 3 years duration is not registered, only longer terms shall be registered in a land office.
The Law is HERE in English language.

Normally your passport need to be valid for not less than six month to enter a foreign country. An airline might not accept your bording, or check-in, if the passport is not valid for 6 month or longer. You can however always enter you home country with less than 6 month passport validity.

What is your experience?
No problem where I live down south, but chicken meat has gone up in price from just below 50 baht per kilo to now 70 baht per kilo for chicken breast, which should be caused by Covid-outbreak among factory workers and closed production facilities.

I may start in Pattaya but will consider Phuket sandbox.
This link HERE will give you overall information about how to enter for ASQ and ALQ, including a list of all available hotels. If you click on "Phuket Sandbox" in the top bar you'll end up HERE, where you find information about the sandbox.
For "Samui plus", which is another sandbox.model, you can find information in the pinned thread in local Samui-forum...- 2

They already had it, for a few years, prior to Covid. They called them zero baht tourists. Came in package groups, pre-paid in China. Ate only at low priced buffets, at 60% off the normal rate. Stayed only in hotels, where the tour operator negotiated 40-70% off the rates. The only ones who really benefitted were 7/11, Tesco, and King Power. Few made any money, and nearly all complained about the lack of quality tourists.
You have been living on Koh Samui, how many "zero baht" Chinese tourists did you see..?

so anyone want to pull out the crystal ball and predict what the situation might be like in June of 2022?
In August 2020, how did you think June 2021 would be - and was June 2021 then compared to what you thought?
It's difficult to predict, especially about the future - if me, then I would wait making any travel-planning while we are in this Covid-pandemic until for example two-three month before...????

The costs of running this plus-program might be higher than the revenue - and not especially environment friendly to fly almost empty planes to and from Samui, even that it's the small ATR-72 propeller aircrafts, and if they also bring some airfreight.
Some of those arriving, and using Samui+ - and Phuket's sandbox - do it to have a more pleasant two-weeks quarantine periode. In my opinion there are too many restriction in the program to create an interest from real tourists, which the numbers of arrivals also shows - same for Phuket - the target was Americans and Europeans, but they might both have more interesting alternatives; at least the Europeans have that in the Mediterrenean area.

Goodness me will the clown never shut up about ordering vaccines. Lets focus on delivered numbers of effective vaccines and on why this is soooo small (covax, reliant on one local supplier, buying from the CCP)
If you don't order any vaccine, nothing will be delivered - that's the problems the nation face now, they ordered to few vaccines in the past.

8 hours ago, it is what it is said:another consequence of the slow vaccination programme, airports in europe are gearing up and getting back into business. it must be so frustrating for businesses
Those European airports I'm interested in stats from rather mentions around 20 percent of passenger compared to same period before Covid-restrictions - but yes, an increase compared to last year, however far from making business; airports are at the moment operated with loss - huge losses.

In the beginning the talk was about number of arrivals, i.e. 120.000 in three month, not the nice hundred-thousand figure for room night, which with an average stay around 10 nights per arrival shows that the real number of arrivals should rather be about 1/10th.
Now close to half way through the first Sandbox-quater another 100,000 or so arrivals are needed to reach the predicted 120,000, and that equals at least another 1,000,000 room nights. The mentioned another 140,000 bookings, which equal room nights, would likely be about another 14,000 arrivals.

To my knowledge, and also in my view, gold is not investment, but in periods safe heaven for money.
In shorter terms you might gain - especially if you can predict the future - but looking at the historical graph, those that "invested" in gold in 1980 just got their own money back now without any interest, when adjusted for inflation...
There's another graph here adjusted for inflation that compares gold - and bonds - with larger US- stocks...
Source: "STOCKS, BONDS, BILLS AND INFLATION AND GOLD".
I've been investing in stocks, and in 10 years I could gain more than two and half times up in my retirement deposit - i.e. from index 100 to little more than index 260, or 160 percent gain before tax (all dividends reinvested) - in the same period the inflation index went from 100 to 118, i.e. 18 percent up. Compared to gold in the same 10-year period, gold gained 64 percent; it was an upturn period for gold.
In my view an Okay investment is, when you can double in circa 10 years (before taxation), it goes for both stocks and property, a good invest is when you double between 5 years and 7 years, excellent when you double in 1-2 year. The trick is to find the right stocks, and the right stocks only, the larger a mix in a portfolie, the more stocks might perform slowly or even loose some value. Investing in gold equals investing in one stock only - if that "one" item goes up it's great, if it goes south it's far less great...????

In Europe they now talk about 85 percent, and as that is of the whole population they need young people down to 12 year gets vaccinated.
