  1. Follow PR Thai Government for more information and updates...????
  2. It's depending of the product you buy. For some products you need to register warranty online, for others you need to fill in a card yourself and mail to the company, and a for a few products the staff will take out the warranty card, ask you to fill in details, and take a photo of it together with the receipt and upload it to the company (the latter happened with the TV I bought in BigC earlier this month with 3 years warranty). If something is wrong during the warranty period you need to bring the products to an authorized repair shop or send it to one. It's the same with products with international warranty, for example a phone that you need to send to a specified anddress and wait some month to get back; it took almost four month for me back in time when Nokia was still a mobile phone one bought, and send to an authorized address on Phuket for repair, meanwhile I bought another Nokia phone, as I needed one, and decided to never ever buy Nokia again... For cheap products I don't care about the 6 month or 1 year warranty, but I check if it works and have my 7 days return right to the shop in case it's not working, in major chains like Lotus's and BigC and HomePro it's never a problem to return a faulty product for replacement or have money returned...????
  3. You need a second Covid-test after 6 days, and it's the hotel - or landlord - that shall arrange for it; that's the present rules. The second test shall be a RT-PCR test, and the good news is that it's free...????
  4. PR Thai Government says... The European Union (EU) has approved the Thailand Digital Health Pass on Mohpromt to be equivalent to and connected to the EU digital COVID certificate, which is the second country in ASEAN to have an approved pass. Because it can manage data collection (vaccination, infection detection, and treatment history), it will save time and make it convenient and safe for travelers to use it as evidence when traveling abroad and participating in activities. The service can be used in 60 countries around the world. But travelers must check and follow the public health measures of each country: 1. Allowed vaccine types; 2. Travel conditions; 3. Quarantine measures, both entering and exiting the country; 4. The risk in each area or country of origin on your trip. "Go Live" will be available in January 2022. Read more HERE.
  5. No reason to panic, khun Anutin says that Thailand is ready to cope with it, Omicron is not worse than other Covid-variants.
  6. It's not about the test, it's about that he fled the quarantine hotel before the test arrived, and thereby broke the rules in a pandemic emergency decree, which is a serious crime in any country.
  7. It's really bad luck to get a holiday ruined because of disease, but they knew the risk in advance, and took a chance. Getting sick when travelling with an travel insurance is a matter between the insurance company and the clients, so correct that a tour guide says that they shall contact SOS International that handles insurance matters. I don't see why this shall be a news story, there have already been a couple of news stories about Danes complaining about being isolated after they test positive for Covid-19. I saw in my Thai newsfeed yesterday that 12 Sandbox arrivals and 30 Test & Go arrivals tested positive on Phuket 26th December. I don't know the number of total arrivals but could be around 4.000 based on the monthly number of arrivals, so risk for testing positive could be something like about 1:100, or 1 percent...????
  8. I've only once stayed in a backpacker hotel one night in Bangkok in 2001 when travelling with some friends on backpacker budget, the hotel didn't care about a passport...???? Most of my other Bangkok stays have been in suites, where I don't need to wait by the reception, that's called service...???? -but you might not know about that...????
  9. 27th December Samui +7 new cases Phangan, +1 new case Koh Tao, no new cases Source: Kosamuilife.com
  10. Non quarantine many-star hotels in Bangkok holds my passport to copy it, and do TM30 registration, where eventual visa, entry stamp and TM6 is needed, I can pick it up later. Why would Quarantine hotels be different?
  11. Only at my first jab I was asked to wait in a waiting area, but I had already been handed the certificate for my second jab. so I could just leave. For the second jab, and the booster jab two days ago, no blood pressure check and no 15 minutes waiting area available, and vaccine certificate is automatic updated in Mor Prom app within 24 hours. If I had a yellow WHO vaccination Passport I could have the booster jab registered in there on the spot by the counter on the exit before leaving, the lady there kindly asked me if I had a yellow certificate to be updated...???? I have no comments about the Israeli guy, I only know the case from the news; however, it might by sensible speculation well be that the quarantine hotel holds passport until the Covid-test result arrives, you are in principle not free before there is a negative test.
  12. He is probably very right, it's been the case in many other countries, so look at Europe right now...????
  13. It's a very difficult task to sit between two stools, the one is that people shall travel more make domestic tourism catch up some of what lacks from foreign tourists, and the other is that people shall not travel due to the risk of spreading Covid-virus...
  14. The case is that his Covid-test was positive - false or not, we don't know, and it doesn't matter as long as it showed "positive" - and the newspaper that cannot be mentioned in this forum also wrote "Covid-infected tourist". He furthermore seemed to have left without his passport - "...paid a taxi 2,500 baht to drive him to Pattaya where he tried to check into a hotel but was turned away without a passport..." - so he must have known that something was not right.
  15. This tax is on SET (Stock Exchange of Thailand) selling-transactions, i.e. no tax when trading less than 1 million baht per month. It's easy to count in the data-systems and your passport number, when you reach 1 million baht for selling stocks in one month, you will probably be taxed on additional transactions together with the trading fees. You are talking about capital gain, which is a different story. There is no tax on capital gains from SET-traded stocks, so that is also extremely easy to count. If you are tax resident in Thailand, then all foreign income is income taxable in Thailand provided that you transfer the funds into Thailand during the same calendar year (same as tax year) as earned; however, some income might be covered by a DTA (Double Taxation Agreement) between two states. If you for example pay withheld dividend tax on stocks traded on Nasdaq, the tax would likely be higher than the Thai dividend tax - i.e. 15 percent to 30 percent might be withheld in dividend tax by Nasdaq - so you will not be double taxed in Thailand, where the dividend tax is 10 percent. You might even be able to claim tax return from US, depending of the DTA, and that you transfer the dividends into Thailand within the same calendar year as it's earned, which in some cases might be worth doing to reduce taxation in one's home country. If you pay capital gain tax in US you will not also pay capital gain tax in Thailand, provided you transfer the funds during the same calendar year as the capital gain is earned. If you transfer your capital gain during the following calendar year, or any later years, it's savings that are free from income taxation in Thailand...????
  16. This is the news story... After a national manhunt was launched to track him down, a 29 year old Israeli tourist who escaped his arrival hotel before his positive Covid-19 test results came back has turned himself in on the island of Koh Samui. The man had landed in Bangkok December 17 and had left before his test results arrived confirming that he had the virus. [ ... ] The man apparently arrived in Thailand early on December 17 and at 2 pm he broke isolation and paid a taxi 2,500 baht to drive him to Pattaya where he tried to check into a hotel but was turned away without a passport. Police had been hunting him in Pattaya before at 10:30 pm on the 18th his phone signal went dead, implying he turned off his phone, possibly to avoid being found. He returned to Bangkok on December 19 before booking a van to the south, where the Israeli man was caught on camera in Chumphon on Monday morning before arriving on Koh Samui that afternoon. Police believe that the Israeli man was being helped by Thai people to sneak out of isolation and avoid being recaptured. Source, Thai PBS HERE.
  17. Where I live we have strict 6 meter building height zone by the beaches. It's measured to the highest point on the roof from the 0-base; which in principle can be a general raised flattened land, but presumably not working if you raise the land under the building only...????
  18. Pretty much the same if you write off land and house in your wife's name, compared to a condo in your name, and 50% loss in case of divorce. However, the location might be an important factor to include, can you buy land and build a house for 2.5 million baht at approximately the same location where a condo is sold for 5 million baht..?
  19. I can also still shop for pretty much same amount as I'm used to, some things are little cheaper, and other items little more expensive, but in general same-same. The Thai consumer price index is 102.25 by end of November. The Covid-period is a bit odd to compare prices and index - fuel prices were for example way down in 2020 - but going two years back to just before the pandemic, the index was 102.62 per 31st December 2019. So in principle - if you buy the same mix of items that the consumer price index is based on - the prices haven't changed the last two years. Over a 10-year period the Thai consumer prices have increased 10.87 percent (ultimo 2011 til ultimo 2021). Looking at one year changes, which can be fairly odd, the index was down to 97 in 2020. Compared one year back - i.e. November 2020 - the prices have increased little more than 2.5 percent; so a year ago it was cheaper than normal... It's much worse in Europe. For example in my Danish home country the consumer price index was 103.1 end of November 2019, and is 107.1 end of November 2021, so almost 4 percent increase in two years. Furthermore prices for heating, i.e. electricity and gas, has gone crazy in December...???????? So i'm still extremely happy with my choice for all-year-summer and barefoot-Xmas...????????
  20. Most of the Covid vaccines have independent names, but in common language we know them by the manufacturer's name... Comirnaty comes from Pfizer-BioNTech CoronaVac comes from Sinovac Covishield comes from AstraZeneca While... Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine comes fromJohnson & Johnson Moderna COVID-19 vaccine comes from Moderna Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine comes from Sinopharm And some no used in Thailand... Covaxin (BBV152) comes from Bharat Biotech (India) Sputnik V COVID-19 vaccine comes from Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology (Russia) ZyCoV-D comes from Cadila Healthcare (India)
  21. In my modest opinion he deserves to be punished, he broke pandemic emergency rules, deportation and entry ban would be fair.
