Looking to enter Laos on a number of occasions - can you get equivalent to a Multiple O as in Thailand ???? or is it $35.00 each time ??

At the end of the 1st year you re-enter Thailand before visa expires and obtain a further years extension. Decide whether you need re-entry permit for 2nd year - no need to move money here for 2nd year

3rd year - yes you can return to home country & repeat process without having to move money into Thailand

Definitely worth a try. I give it 7/10.

Just as an extra - if you have to get entry visa into Laos, try to buy $ at one of the 2 money exchanges at border - if you pay in baht = 1600 baht - I converted last Friday & my visa Laos visa cost me 1280 baht leaving 320 baht for........................ something else in Thailand - 6 small beers

you can walk to the middle of the bridge and then must return.. but again i could be wrong the last time is some time ago..

you are correct about the $ buy dollars here and pay your visa with it..

Curiosity - why would anyone want to walk to middle of bridge after exiting either country - makes no sense at all especially if leaving Thailand as you cannot re-enter without Laos stamp & visa

Bridge probably 2k's in length - shuttle bus 20 baht

Laos Border to Vientiane - 15k - shared TukTuk - 100 baht

Did 2 nights in Vientiane short while ago - ATM cards !!! would not accept my SCB card, but would show me balance ( very multi multi millions !!!, but in kip)

For me the best area for 500 -700 baht is the mixlay area - plenty bars & eating places

You should be OK with Tourist Visa - but it is the back to back TR's that appear to be the problem ie after 4 (1 year) your not considered a tourist anymore

Paradise beach bar, go along the Rawai Beach front til the Or Bor Tor office, turn left and then take the next left, go up the hill for 1km and it is signposted on the left.

Go down the hill and sit there just before sunset.

The max fine for overstay is 20k. And it appears you are here on a legal non immigrant O-A visa entry in any case. Do not believe anyone will question your status. Consulate should not issue a new visa without the old visa being canceled but suspect that should make the newest visa invalid rather than the original O-A if push came to shove.

How do you make newer Visa invalid - only way I can think is a trip back to incoming airport

If the permitted to stay stamp was incorrect, they cna charge you with overstay. That would be 500 baht a day, with a maximum of 20,000 baht.

So the downside risk of doing nothing is 20,000 baht? Though I don't accept the premise that my visa stamp is invalid, I've wagered and lost 20,000 baht before. it would piss me off but it won't break me.

The way that vit happens it that you apply for the first visa and you are fully qualified, then you apply for another visa in a different category for which you are also fully qualified, and then you wind up with both stamped in your passport. It might not seem fair but it happens.

but by entering the second visa into the passport automatically cancels the original - I've seen it confirmed by immigration officials - I accept also the immigration officials seem to have different views on this, BUT if you get an official who shares my view and you are travelling within Thailand on the earlier visa - then expect trouble

Thanks for the warning, but it wasn't my choice and I don't derive any benefit from it being that way. What do you suggest that I do, storm into the Immigration office in Bangkok and insist that one of my visas be canceled?

No I do not suggest that as the earlier Visa is already cancelled - if you are in the country on the earlier one then yes, I suggest you go into your closest office & ask them politely
