You can put Norbu's on the going down list.
Correct - had a bad one there 15 months ago & never been back
Celtique - good food, but save for specials etc
-
On the right coming from Icon if headed toward Nai Harn Beach, on the corner opposite The Freebird Bar & Restaurant.
Maybe the one you are thinking of is Typhoon? With all the wood decking and furniture, I understand they too have a breakfast buffet, but have heard it's hit and miss.
F1Fanatic consider yourself added to the list. Anyone that sits and watches a race where the pole sitter goes round and round for hours to victory (mind numbing) is also probably after hi-so ladies in Kata (which is a complete laugher). Good nite to all and to all a good nite !!
Ouch -that's told you F1fanatic, but I too follow F1, but I thought this was all about Rawai ??
Typhoon - dreadful
M & M - food Ok, but dreadful owner (the Mrs half)
Kallots - going downhill recently
just my views

Across the street, noodle soups, to the other side breakfast buffet at Chao Khun, up the street, all nite venue The Icon Pub. Opposite direction, left if you head out of Green Valley is JayFai Thai Food and Kallots for a fresh baguette sandwich, Rum Jungle, Tony, the chef there is unbelievable, a little bit pricey but well worth it as the quality is outstanding.
Toward Nai Harn beach, best club sandwich on the island at The Breakfast Hut, some of the best Italian food around at M&M's, if you get a hankering for Mexican, Los Amigos.
Cut through road to Rawai Beach a left before you get to Nai Harn Lagoon, is where a poster mentions Roxanne Bar, go all the way through to Rawai Beach and eat Thai food & BBQ on mats in the sand, can continue to the other end to Nikitas, further on, entertainment complex Laguna Bars which also holds an all nite disco.
Chao Khun - is that the one on the right towards Icon ??
-
In Phuket - can leave blank

Chip probably has details of your credit card !!!! They can then put the price up anytime they want - thieving ba*****ds

You cannot buy a visa in Thailand. If you want to stay longer than 30 days a lot depends on age, monies, marriage status or needs of education
I think the maximum amount of days i will be in Thailand at a time will be roughly 26. followed by approx 1 month out of the country.
What would be the best way to get a Visa? I'm guessing I need a type O visa since I'm not looking to work here. Could I get this done in Malaysia?
Thanks for the advice about the bank accounts, when i went into Bangkok Bank in the Tesco lotus, the girl behind the counter told me i needed a years visa and a rental agreement on a property.
Entry stamp seems good enough & free, next step would be a Tourist Visa which mean buying one before departing for Thailand and they now cost ! You need reason for O visa and to get 1 in SE Asia can be difficult, but it seems you do not need 1 at all if only max of 30 days

The visa that was last put into passport would automatically cancel all existing visa's therefore only the latest 1 is valid

Roxanne Bar on the road to Nai Harn.
Cold beer,Indian curries and beautiful ladies all in the the same place.
What more could anyone ask for
Get rid of the Indian food
Why?
They also do burgers for boring -------
Keep the Indians & get rid of the cowboys - How's the new Indian Shack doing ??

Can anyone tell me which is the quickest border to get to
I'm looking at a map, and I'm wondering if this is a trick question.
Let's see, Udon to closest Cambodian crossing - I think you can cross south of Surin, which would be apprx 400 kilometers.
Udon to closest Burmese border crossing - Mae Sai, I'm guessing 900 kilometers.
Udon to closest Malaysian border crossing - geez must be over 2000 kilometers.
OR . . .
you can cruise up to Nong Kai, about 60 kilometers.
Happy trails.
Burma ?? cannot spell new name
-
Yes I mean Udon Thani. Thats good only 50 mins. Does this
charge of 35 US apply to every person leaving and re-entering,
as my son has a thai passport and I wanted to take him with me?
Thanks
Thai nationals are a nominal small charge - might be 70 -100 baht
-
I assume you mean Udon Thani - long trip to border - about 40-50 minutes to Friendship Bridge in Nong Khai, Laos border - unfortunately 1600 baht or 35 $ to go into Laos, but you can do it in a morning do not know any Visa companies though
-
-
Friendship beach, free when you use the bar/restaurant
That'll be more than 250 per day then
But the pool is free

I think there is a decent sized public pool on Choa Fa Road East on the way to Phuket Town - driving into town after the Zoo lights and just before a car lot on right hand side there is a turning left that goes through to Wat Chalong - as you turn left and maybe 100 metres I think it is around there - pls correct me if I am wrong
-
-
According to my interpretor the writing across the top indicates that the Visa can be used 1 more time - all looks ok
ps - not sure about all the black ink though

I had the first 'unacceptable' one countersigned, but I didn't have to have the 2 new ones done !!! A bit of Thai logic in there somewhere I think
Taken from email from Hong Kong
" Two new recent photos, following our guidelines, importantly, the height of the face top-to-chin should be between 29mm and 34mm in a frame not under 45mm tall; with the mouth closed, so teeth don't show, and with a white, cream or light grey back ground. They must also have been taken within the last month and you must be directly facing the camera. You will not need to get them countersigned unless you have changed your appearance dramatically"
Thanks very much, that last sentence answers all my questions :jap:
Except - would I get it any quicker if I applied in HK? Or do they have to go through the same process?
Mine took 3 weeks including sending the new pictures by ordinary post - do not know about uk timescale
I know you can do it same day in UK, I was just wondering if it might be quicker to apply in person in Hong Kong.
I really don't want to travel all the way to UK for a new passport but I do need it urgently.
Sorry do not know if same day service available in HK

Thanks to those kind enough to respond. I am planning on living here full time. I got a large jar of Vaseline at Tesco-Lotus this morning, and will pay the fines when I have the coin. In spite of opening a bank account at Kashikorn 6 days ago, I went by and was told to wait another 3 days to transfer money until I was in their system. And I thought Mexico and Saudi Arabia were slow!
May I ask terak 69, or others-exactly what should I ask for to get this "Non O " visa and what amount of time then will I have before I have to get another visa? I have read a few attorney websites, and this is confusing to a newbie.
Thanks to all-
Charlie (bedouin1990)
Asking for an O visa depends on age & circumstances but the basics are
Retirement - need to be min 50, money (800,000 baht) in Thai Bank for 2 months or certified income of 65,000 baht per month
Marriage - married to Thai national, 400,000 in bank or 40,000 baht per month
ED - on recognised Thai learning course
pm if you want more info
Vaseline cheaper at 7/11

For those who have renewed recently, did you need to get your photos countersigned, or is this just for new applications? It's not clear in the instructions, thanks.
Hav'nt had it back yet though...sent May 31st.
My photo was 1mm out and computer wouldn't accept it - Hong Kong sent email back to me very quickly so I would think be OK

It is not a requirement to carry, it should actually be at your place of work.
I was under impression you should always carry - I know someone who was fined 4,000 as he was unable to show his wp
Only at place of work do you must be able to show it.
The person I know was at work but out of office base - was still doing some thing he was allowed to - TIT I suppose
