Letter & Copy of ATM card enough in Phuket unless it's changed from Friday - even for citizens of USA
-
Most immigration offices in that case also want a copy of your bank book. If you don't have a Thai bank account, copies of ATM slips are also accepted.
Suspect this will be the case in Phuket too (or will be soon).
Currently only want to see bank book if using money in bank - if using consulate letter for 100% of funds no need to show bank book
-
They want copy of front of ATM card to see how you extract your 65,000 baht from it's source and into The Kingdom !!
Whether you use that card or not is immaterial, but it ticks the correct box for them.

Okay, here's an update.
Went to a doctor's clinic first, but after he understood what I have he sent me straight to hospital. As he mentioned government hospital, we went there.
I not needed to say too much, as everything was clear when he saw my leg. A friend was with me to translate. And first I worried as he prepared some letter saying can not move for the next 4 days. Later she explained me there's written much more: that he can not yet say, how long it will take, but actually I'm "on emergency status" and they need the next few days to find out the right quantity of medicaments.
He also wrote, I'm not allowed to travel right now as it would be very dangerous. My friend (she's my ex gf and was just here by accident as she usually lives more far away) also told me, that this doctor were writing pretty powerful how much dangerous traveling would be for me right now and she also said, that we went to a government hospital, is better, as at a private hospital (the immigration could say) they attest me everything for money, but never at a gov. hospital.
So tomorrow I have to go to immigration. I really want to know what they will say...
The only funny thing: I have to get Heparin injections. But they did not give it to me. They said, people can not do without nurse. Well, at home always when I got Heparin injections, I made by myself, as this is normal... but honestly, I'm happy, when this is over and when I can move on... it's not that funny right now...
Firstly - Good luck with your treatment
2ndly - If you get a visa Extension letter from Hospital Doctor preferable with an actual 'can travel' date (whether it be 30 days or 90 days) this will fill out all the ticks for immigration. They will give you extra days until the 'can travel' date for 1900 baht. You need copy of passport, current TR visa, entry stamp & 1 photograph. Fill out a TM7 & hey presto 1 unwanted (in health terms) extension. If your ailment has nor been cleared up by the 'can travel' date then another letter can be used again

Police order 777/2551
(3) Patient Carer, except parents, spouse, children, adopted children or children of spouse, shall be granted no more than 1 extra person.
Have seen 2 or 3 extra persons granted extension based on patient - remember 1900 baht each

if on 30 day extentions - immigration might not be too interested in extending or issuing any new 30 day visa - and why should they - the cold hard facts are, if you are that ill it's unlikely that you are here as a "tourist" which is what 30 day visa's are for.
But surely even tourists fall ill, I'm assuming that if a tourist did fall ill and couldn't travel home the same would apply, even if they didn't actually have a visa?
Correct - medical extensions are valid for all if granted

Won't make any difference - Op is not asking for new visa from them, just a medical extension
Lets see what happens.:jap:
Have seen plenty been done

Your hospital doctor can write a visa medical letter indicating that you are unable to travel for medical reasons. This should also show an end date (although this can be overwritten by new letter) Take letter to local immigration and they should extend your permission to stay until date on letter (1900 baht though)

Well, pgmthailand, you are not alone! I often ask myself the same question. I sometimes feel trapped here working in a volunteer position and wonder how much longer I can carry on.
Yeeesh, ever heard "you make the bed you sleep in"?
What volunteer position can make you stay here - If I was an unhappy volunteer I think I would relocate my volunteer skills elsewhere

Best is to visit immirgation first to have the details transfered to the new passport. It is free and doesn't take that long.
When leaving Thailand, Laos will look fo the Thai exit stamp. That is why you can't switch passports at the borders, but must have the details transfered to the new passport. often they will also do this at the border.
Sorry but rubbish - you can legally travel on old expired/cancelled passport and new passport - not need to waste time at immigration - they will not transfer a TR or VOA anyway.
He doesn't have a visa and that is not the issue anyway. The issue is that if you cross a land border with a neighbouring country, immigration checks for an exit stamp of the other country. That is why you cannot just switch passports at the border, but must have his permission stamps moved to a new passport.
You do not need you permissions moved. You can travel with 2 passports, old but cancelled & new and current. On exiting Thailand they stamp the you out on new passport but make reference to your entry stamp in the old passport. I did this a while ago - I got a new passport early January, my TV was in old passport but I did my visa run with both passports, did not transfer anything. It is also quite common for immigration not to transfer a permission across to new passport if there is small validity on extension - them just say carry 2 passports
-
I brought 16k cash in one time, was easy, but I wasn't stopped at immigration - I still think about if I had been stopped ......................................TIT
-
Travel out with both passports - your old one will be cancelled therefore they stamp you out in your new one but make reference to the inward stamp. Get your TV in Laos and return on your new passport.
How do I know ? - just done it
'And did you have to get your old visa transfered Terak? Or does that happen on the travelling out part?
Thank you in advance.
Regards.
did not need to - take 2 passports - old & new - easy

You fear correctly - Penang will not issue another TR if have extended the prior one !! (Unless things have changed now that they can implement charges again)

7 day extension on 'O' Visa at immigration - 1900 baht
-
We can not say with any degree of certainty what position will be nine months from now - but today highly suspect you would not be getting a 2 entry tourist visa. Once married you will have a 60 day extension of stay option available.
TR's seem available until you have had a years worth ie 2 doubles or 4 singles. - degree of certainty = thai logic !!! (up to them)
-
I got a 3rd double entry TR60 with a new passport quite easily in Vientiane 2 weeks ago. Others were getting refused or red stamp for next time.
-
I think with only 1 TR in passport another double entry should be OK
-
My girlfriend called last week two visa-offices in Nong Khai and asked this question about the third tourist visa. Both women she spoke to said the same thing: "Yes you can get 3rd tourist visa in Vientiane... but not another".
I´m in the same situation, after asking this question here on thaivisa.com, I got the impression that my chances for getting 3rd tourist visa were really slim. After my girlfriend spoke to those women in Nong Khai - I don´t know what to believe.
Will let you know Wednesday !!
Got 3rd double entry TR
Bloke next to me had had 2 doubles & 1 single, was given a new double, but got the 'do not come back here ' statement in Red ink next to visa
Another TR abuser was refused
I personally think it is the officers mood on the day - there is no pattern or system that I can see - pot luck applies
