  1. ...plus points are that it is quiet and the bed was extremely comfortable, the traditional hard thai style bed which I realy like so you do actually get a good nights kip...

Wow! :D You must've got a room away from the small soi that runs down the side of the Woraburi. The rooms that overlook that soi will be subjected to noisy tuk-tuks (I don't know if it the hotel's own tuk-tuk), but noisy tuk-tuks go up and down that soi all bloody night until about 5 am and then start up again about 9. :o

If you want a good night's sleep, make sure you get a room on the other side and when you check in, look out the window to make sure. Or buy some ear plugs. :D

  2. as a tourist it is worthful to come in low season . guide me . i want to come again in may 2006 . it is ok to come or no ? girls will be there or no?

If you "just" come for the girls, ay will be a wondefrful time and on hopes that the crazy prices quoted around will decline to more reasonable numbers. Lots of new input there too, as school finishes right around now.

But if you come to sit in the beach be warned: the weather #WILL# suck bigtime.

I think we all know what he's coming for. :o

And I'm sure mama, papa and the kids will be very happy that the kids' mum is working so hard.

  3. When I first read the title of this thread " Will you still visit Thailand if .... "

I guessed all the answers would be " yes , it does not affect me at all "

    I was right . :o

haha.I was thinking the same thing Jeff.

Obviously the sex tourists don't use Internet forums, yea right.

Yeah , just not this forum :D

I'll be logging out then. :D

  4. Two cops held for Ko Noi murder

PHUKET CITY: Two Phuket Provincial Police officers have been arrested in connection with the March 14 assassination of Preecha “Ko Noi” Kraitas, owner of the Phuket Shooting Range and the Fisherman Way housing estate.

    K. Preecha was shot twice in the head while driving along Wiset Rd at 11 pm with his wife and son. He died in hospital the following day.

A local Thai-language newspaper identified the two men arrested as Pol Capt Wanchana Polpalangkul and Pol Sgt Pongsak Kosi-ratanapibal, both attached to the province’s élite Special Operations Unit.

The two were arrested just after midnight on March 18 by a posse of police led by the deputy chief of the Bangkok-based Central Investigations Division, Pol Maj Gen Suchat Meuankaew. He was accompanied by many of the island’s top law enforcers.

According to the report, Sgt Pongsak c racked after more than four hours of questioning, telling investigators he had been hired by Capt Wanchana “to finger the target” for a professional gunman from Petchaburi Province.

The gunman has reportedly also been arrested, but the newspaper gave no details.

Pongsak and Wanchana were charged with premeditated murder and conspiracy “in connection with others still at large”, the report said. The “others” were not identified.

Attempts today by the Gazette to confirm details of the story were brushed off by senior police officers who said they were “too busy” to comment.

    - gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside to know that I'm being taken care of by such wonderful policemen. :o

  5. the naughty nightlife only exists because there are so many poor isaan farm girls without a future who are prepared to take part in it for a better life.

if you ban everything then who will help these people? many of these girls help sustain families back home.

many of you holier-than-thou posters on here may be shacked up with a wife and kids now but i bet that's not what brought you here in the first place......

Once Toxin has erradicated poverty none of this will be an issue anymore!

    Don't hold your breath.

Ah, sorry, didn't quite get the sarcasm in your post :o

  6. ive not heard of any in phuket, but there are some new climbs in koh yao noi.

There was a bar on the road from Nai Harn to Rawai called The Wall.

It did have a climbing wall, but, it closed down due to lack of interest and far-flung location.

Would have thought Phang-Nga and Krabi would be a climbers paradise. The real thing, though.

What about "Sarafi" near the top of the hill at the south of Patong? That's got a wall - my g/f climbed it last year. :o

  7. I'm trying to find some kind of evidence to support the view that the gov't pressured people.

Thaksin just pressured people to re-elect him, remeber previous elections were only feb 2005

And you want to find some kind of evidence? :D

Chownah, remember Thaksin's words after he lost a by-election last year when he said the constituencies that vote for TRT will get funds first, the others will have to wait?

That's a brazen and blatant threat.

Surely, that's illegal even in Thailand? :o

  8. There are some pretty knowlegable people on this forum regarding airport ops but I would guess that if everything was done and working then certification would take a few months of testing. If they staff it in March or April they would have trouble landing in June or July. I am betting that it gets open in December, any takers out there?

I bet it's not before January

Who's gonna run a book on it? :o

    I'll put 500 baht on Dec. 5th. :D

  9. Yeah, those Isaan headmen are real suckers for the "we like Toxin" trick....it works every time. The people are really smart though....that's why they all vote for....who was it that they all vote for?...I forget....wait...isn't it Toxin they all vote for?....aren't these people the ones who can't be trusted in the election that Toxin has called. Aren't these people the ones who are going to re-elect Toxin and that's why the anti Toxin crowd don't want an elecction?

May I refer you to post number 3:

You can fool some of the people some of the time

Actually, this is wrong. It should be: "You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time."

Perhaps Abraham Lincoln should have added: "Except someone called 'Chownah'."

  10. Absolutely! You are correct here... Don't listen to these other jokers. I have a place in NE Thailand as well, and have lived in Thailand for MANY years ... although right now I am living in the US for a spell. I also have had a Thai wife for the last 20 years. Village life in Isaan puts a whole new spin on the phrase "keeping up with the Joneses." The car/truck you own, size of your land, how big and fancy your house is, etc., etc., etc. is all of intense importance to the Thai woman (and men too for certain). Absolutely NO DOUBT about this. Anyone refusing to acknowledge this point must have their eyes totally shut 100% of the time.

So... like I said... be safe in the FACT that you are correct! Don't give your detractors the time of day... they obviously (like many Farangs I know) MAY have BEEN in Thailand for a spell... but have refused to bother to notice that they are living somewhere else... These are usually the same guys who have been here for years but can't speak a word of the local language... LoL! Ignore them!

:D:D I once told my girl friend I was thinking of trading in my pick-up for a new one. She phoned her mum in Isaan and told her. Her mum told the wife of a farang who lives in a 1 mil. THB house. She phoned hubby back in the UK for money to buy a new 4x4. :D

    I never did change my pick-up. :D

OK OK, if you compare with brits......

In terms of looking better, it is too easy to win against Brits. Do you know any nationality looking worse??

I'm sure I could think of somewhere, given time.

Oh, by the way, where are you from? :o

  11. Yes, exactly. It's just amazing how predictable the comments will be for each news item.

If a Thai dies, is arrested, has an accident, proposes something, then automatically it's because he is stupid, inherently dishonest, lazy & incompetent, has a self-serving ulterior motive that is immediately apparent to the geniuses that post messages on this board.

If a farang dies, is arrested, has an accident, molests children or makes a drunken fool of himself, then automatically "his family is in our thoughts and prayers...and it must be his Thai wife who killed him," he has balls and what's wrong with the Thai immigration for letting him in the country and why can't the Thai police do anything to stop this and they're probably taking bribes, he was run off the road by all the unsafe Thai drivers, he's innocent until proven guilty and is probably a scapegoat to cover up the incompetent Thai police, etc.

Give the racism a rest. Most of you have absolutely nothing to feel superior about. In fact your behaviour when posting messages is self-condemning. There’s a good chance that the reason you’re in Thailand in the first place has more to do with your inadequacies than with any sterling personal characteristics.

Great post Kaojai, I'm also baffled at the racist attitudes of many of the posters here, the Western view that they are so superior to Asians is apparent with many that post here.

Can you imagine what Thailand would be like if the Thai people were as racist and condemming as some of the jokers here?....

Congratulations! At last someone with enough common sense to realise that a lot of these posts are made just to raise a smile.

As for "Kaojai", you need to "Jai Yen Yen". :o
