  1. Is it because you look funny dancing to hip hop :D

Absolutely! :o But back on topic... I don't think KFC or McDonald's put quite as much MSG and other <deleted> in their foods as you see put it typical Thai food. I'm surprised more Thais don't suffer from the side effects of MSG.

I've also seen in the streets of major tourist resorts rows of tailors all named "Armani"... who are they exploiting? (And who are they kidding?) :D

  2. PSS: The Dude does not speak the language and has no plans to start. He thinks that farangs speaking Thai look and sound stupid when doing so. The Dude does however love hearing Thais speak it

    donna dont dig.

donna thinks the dude should try to assimilate himself a bit more with the country he chooses to live in. donna thinks the dude would be a happier dude if he did so. since donna learnt to speak basic thai, donna has been able to communicate with many different kinds of people. the experiences donna has had are far more than what donna would have had otherwise.

donna thinks the dude should perhaps learn a little thai. donna thinks we dont all sound stupid when we speak thai.

    Deat donna,

Please re-read The Dude's original post:

...Went to Grace Hotel and met nice lady and hung with her for 2 days...

...We meet another farang in Thermae...

...Ticket burned at ceremonial burning outside of The Thermae...

...The Dude still loves this same Sukhumvit area and has no plans to move anywhere else...

Do you think a sex-tourist like him will bother learning the language, let alone assimilate himself into the culture? His highly paid translator(s) can get him from bar to McDonalds and back.

  3. ...Went to Grace Hotel and met nice lady...

...The Dude has numerous shovels to hand out to anyone who can dig his Thailand story. Can you dig it? ...

Sorry Dude, nice story but you can have your shovel back. No way could anyone find a nice lady at The Grace Hotel. :o

  4. Just a question to help me prepare myself for the evitable up coming journey for the next stage of my life.

How did you all feel.....when you first moved to Thailand?

"At last" was what I thought. :D

P.S. Maigo6 - please don't write "Horny" next to your avatar of Maggie. I haven't eaten yet. :o:D

Lots of houses round here have them. Don't know how good they are because the well water here is <deleted>, and it's still <deleted> after going through the filter. Maybe the filter needs new activated carbon.

  6. Had a problem with my DVD player ... was repaired in 3 days ...

Ha, ha! Beat you - mine was repaired in 3 hours! Small shop, 2 guys working, keen to keep their satisfied customers. It was only 1 year old when I had to get it fixed and it's still working now, 2 years later...

  7. PS. I've also sat on and broken two toilet seats. It seems farang loos are also beyond the manufacturing capabilities of Thais.

Maybe you are grossly overweight, with an ass like a money lender. :D

    Cheeky bugger! 5 foot 11, 86 kilos, actually (all muscle :o ).

    I don't know any money-lenders, so can't comment on that. :D

  8. And what a great day yesterday was, a lot quieter than the last few, seemed to be less people around, certainly around the kata/karon side of the island. Still a good time was had by all, had a drive around on a sidecar, armed with a barrel of ice cold water and tube gun :D
I took the kids out yesterday, down to Rawai. It was as busy and crazy as usual. I do not like the ice cold water that is thrown and my kids now all have coughs and runny noses.

    :o

  9. The computer desk occasionally falls apart, too, but at least it survived the move.

My computer desk fell apart too - the drawers on the right side started hanging down and were difficult to close because the tracking on the "runners" wasn't right. So I up-ended it and had a look: the single most important steel bracket that fixed the drawers to the back of the desk... had no f*cking screws in it. This was bought from "Courts" - a supposed "quality" furniture supplier in the UK, but clearly things change when under Thai management.

So I put in the missing screws and noticed some others had been pulled out of the chip wood. So I installed 6 or 8 more to replace the three useless ones. Result: perfectly working desk drawers. Now, if the manufactures of this <deleted> had applied the same care to their products as I did, maybe they would get a reputation for selling good stuff, not crap stuff. Remember "Courts" furniture and electrical stores.

PS. I've also sat on and broken two toilet seats. It seems farang loos are also beyond the manufacturing capabilities of Thais.

  10. I think it's the "leaning back" that's the problem :o . I lost one of the five legs on my chair. I've now got one that pivots in the middle so you can lean back without stressing the leg at the back: all weight still goes straight down.

If you look closely at some of the cheap plastic chairs, they sometimes have a weight limit on the label - around 65-75 kg often.

  11. High-presure spray guns are prohited from being sold

The Office of the Consumer Protection Board has announced that high-pressure water guns, which are made of PVC pipes or plastic materials, are banned from being sold to the general public. The board fears that such spray guns will cause injuries, or even blindness, to the people will be joining the Songkran celebration. Violators will be fined for no more than 500,000 baht, and they can be imprisoned for up to five years maximum.

The Office of the Consumer Protection Board has also warned motorists that substandard tires can potentially bring about road accidents as they do not have proper elasticity. Furthermore, the tires can explode if they carry heavy loads and travel for a long distance during this summer season.

Source: Thai National News Bureau Public Relations Department - 12 April 2006

I'll try not to be so controversial in this thread, Jai Dee! Apart from the fact that I didn't know there was a "Consumer Protection Board" in Thailand, to protect consumers from being hurt by these powerful "toys" they should have been withdrawn from sale weeks ago, the manufacturers fined and all retail outlets selling them warned. It's all too little, too late.

In one month's time I would love to see a list of all the people who have been prosecuted. My guess: zero.

  12. I have seen people deliberately trying to make motorcycles crash by throwing water into their eyes as they are travelling at speed.

There in lies your problem mate, motorbikes travelling too fast...

What a load of crap! I too have seen bikes swerve out into the path of pick-ups because some Thai idiots were lying in ambush by the side of the Chao Fa road. How slow should motocy's go on Chao Fa road, Wolfie? Don't blame everything on speed - it's just not the case. You can play with your water in private, but stay the <deleted> away from the main roads!

The only safe solution is to stay indoors - that's where I'll be, otherwise I'll be tempted to add to the death toll...

  13. Hope it is OK with you guys if I stick to Leo and Hieneys

:D OMG! Leo? LEO?? Total gnat's piss! Chang's OK, Singha: hasip-hasip. But Leo? Oh dear, oh dear... :D

If people are satisfied with these beers, then clearly they have been here far too long

wrt. Chang, I've been long enough to appreciate it!

The piss called Heineken is just that - a piss.

    :o

  14. You bought your gf gold when you were with her, and then wanted it back when the relationship finished?

    jeez . . . . a present is a present, isnt it?

Is it? Isn't it? Was it, wasn't it? What the hel_l do you know about his situation? :o

What a SHAME and a Cheap Charlie :D

And you. Idiots the pair of you.

  15. Hi all.

  16. I can’t comment on the posters Pattaya, sexual or firearm choices but the time spent away from home and work location is very possible.

You may be surprised how many TV members use Thailand as a homebase, work in various offshore and Middle East locations then end up retiring in Thailand.

As a relative newbie but having reviewed posts for some time,, the information revealed in your last paragraph is not surprising at all.TV is clearly a blue collar forum.

    Cripes! :D

That's blown the cover of 'the gent'... :D

Noel, you're not by any toodle pip chance, trying to entice the esteemed gentleman from his sozzled hibernation to go into battle on behalf of the the dishonoured forum members, are you? :D

If so, watch out, Arse -nal (now there's a monicker that the gent could get his verbals into), Noel might have unleashed the snarling beast. :D

How dare you sir! I have never hibernated in my life.

Honestly, you two might as well be joined at the hip the amount of time you appear to spend in each other's cyber pockets. Perhaps this is a friendship which might be whispering its name ......?

Who can tell, anything is possible in the demi- monde that is evidently Pattaya. I suppose one must be thankful for the small mercy the dreary CherryB hasn't made an appearance spouting his banalities as if they were the greatest of profundities.

To Arsenal, I bid you welcome to the forum. Your observation may not be particularly astute given the manifestly apparent nature of its object but I have a feeling your wit will have plenty of opportunity to dazzle us all. It could scarcely be eclipsed by the mote beams filtering through the gloom of mediocrity currently prevailing.

Anyway, off to bed so I shall leave Noel and the Duck to their poolside dalliance at Chez Duck's.....

The Duck: Fancy a quick dip before retiring, Noel me lad?

Noel : Actually, old fruit, not really in the mood for it now. Tell you what, fancy a swim

    instead?

Tits and Poodles or should that be Cupid Stunts :D

Hmmm, it seems that soft soaping or even ‘detergent’ will not be effective in taming you, ‘tg’.

An overnight steeping in Harpic might flush you out though, but care must be taken not to drive you round the bend.

That said, your polysyllabic prose, sesquipedalian syntax and lexical lambasting does seem to have been disturbingly diluted of late, but that could simply be down to a lower octane batch of Chang… :o

    Add Noel spots it :D

"Add Noel spots it" = "Sad, old nepotist" ?
