  1. MY Opinion is ....... take care of the sick kids and 'normal people'.............. give the elderly Thai's and Thai kids   'ALL'    the help they need in medical attention.............. I doubt there would be any money left in the fund... But if there was money left Then use if for school lunches......... after that then any surpluses (impossible) can be considered for the ladyboys self-improvement..............

In other words.......... Let the screwed-up Trans-genders live their screwed-up lives stealing 'gold-chains and ripping off farangs on beach road' in Pattaya as usual........ Keep all those Medical Funds for those who are 'really sick' ...........

    Just my personal opinion.................

  2. Another suggestion.............. Get (download) SKYPE and/or VoipDiscount Apps to your phone ............. You can call anywhere in the world, including Thailand (and in Thailand you can call anywhere in the world) FOR JUST PENNIES.................. then call to KASIKORN in Thailand and talk to them about it......... VERY CHEAP CALLING ---- and there are a number of similar Worldwide (internet/WiFi) services........

  3. If you have a smart phone then try this.......... Turn the phone OFF......... Wait a couple minutes then turn it on again...... Somehow that recycles a phone that has developed a 'glitch' and has a problem doing normal chores.....

I am in the US now but a couple weeks ago was in Pattaya........ My KASIKORN banking wouldn't load (or open)......... I went into a KASIKORN branch and asked a teller............ she asked if I had done that and I said no...... She turned it off then on and SURE ENOUGH, it worked.......

Now back in the US I have used it many times for 'Top-up' AIS and transfer money to some Thai's accounts......

But....... If this don't help in your case then do try it at some other WiFi locations, not just that one location...........

Edited to add....... Do you have the same SIM card in the phone???????? IF NOT, try putting your Thai Sim back in that phone for the moment (but continue to use WiFi -- not the SIM)......

Live wires on a road/turn around used by many, good safety procedures on contractors part but not surprising in Safety Centered Thailand.

Now you know why the derogatory term 'TIT'  (This Is Thailand)    was adopted by so many.............

When anything is as one would guess, in Bangladesh, Uganda, Nigeria................. (You might expect it normal in those countries) .......... But when it happens in Thailand we kinda expect it also but think that is something we might expect in those countries but 'here it is happening' right here in Thailand --- and it becomes a 'laughing matter'..........................

Totally agree; if more Municipalities were sued they might tighten up their health and safety procedures.  On any stretch of Sukhumvit there are always great stretches of the road without street lighting.  Add a few lightless motor bike riders and you can see Pattaya's contribution to the daily roadkill figures.

In Thailand the 'Poor Thais' as these girls, learn to 'suffer silentlently' as most Thais know it is a waste of time to 'voice an opinion' or 'expect fair-play' with regard to any wrong doings by other 'superiors' (anybody with more money - as this contractor)...............

Na Jomtien police have ordered the contractors to make improvements in the area.

The 2 girls in the hospital..... Undoubtedly big Hospital bills ahead........ can anybody guess if the contractor will PAY THOSE BILLS for the girls???????     Much less do a more 'sanitary' job about taking care of the wires (My guess is 'no change at all)................. All you have to do to figure it out is consider WHERE this happened........ Jomtien..... Pattaya..... THAILAND................................

And since it occured in Thailand, You can pretty well guess also that the 'Contractor' is a 'Family Member' of somebody important (maybe brother-in-law of 'chief of police - That's how he got the Job)) so the RTP (police) won't do a thing to help those girls (only cover the <deleted> of the contractor).......................

It may seem that I am a 'Thai basher' (I'm NOT)................ and after 35 years of Thailand.......... I've seen a lot.........................

I DO LOVE Thailand......... factually................. But I LOVE the Thais like these girls...... (Poor and innocent in their actions).................

After 35 years of witnessing the Thai 'Cops' and 'Wealthy businessmen' abusing the 'Thai public'................

I can 'Honestly' say I love Thai's (I'm not a Thai Basher)............ But the Thais I love don't include their Government (military ) or the 'RICH' Thai's (HiSo's)(who could care less about the POOR Thais)............. And from my years knowing the 'Poor Thai's'............ It is the Thai Governments system's GOAL to keep them poor and uneducated so as to have a 'cheap labor pool' (house maids , chauffers, gardeners, etc.) for the 'Higher Class' (Including Gov't Officials such as Gen 'PM' Phayut and all his ARMY co-harts) and this Contractor in Jomtien as well..................

    IMHO............... needless to say..............

Foreigners helped with the rescue because they have had more experience in cave rescues than the Thai. If needing help you go with a team that has the most experience in the subject. Japan has special teams/equipment for rescuing people trapped under buildings as does the US  because of the many quakes Japan and California have had.  EU and US (and Nepal sherpas) have best mountain rescue because of all the climbing tourism . Brits are best at cave rescues especially if flooded. Thailand and many other countries would not have experienced teams to deal with every disaster so should never hesitate to ask for help from counties familiar with the skills needed to get the job done quickly.

You are right............ but You failed to see my point about how the Thai government could so better serve their people themselves if they weren't so selfish and funnel all the money into 'personal pockets' as is so 'widespread'.......

And it won't get better.......... Because all those 'grafters' know that they can count on the rest of the world taking care of them in a crisis (as this) so they can continue to fill their own HiSo pockets at the expense of the poor Thai's............

I doubt extreme cave diving in Thailand would be popular or they would have had volunteers. Actually I doubt it's popular anywhere.

You don't train people to respond to such a rare occurrence that it's never happened before. Receding water made the difference and the thai seals would have got there eventually, maybe a day or two later.

Your rant though suggests you have have an agenda. What has corruption and the rich elite have ANYTHING to do with this?

    Bizzare

And WHAT are you expecting when one of those 'Submarines' fail to surface (anything different from these 12 boys)............ Do you really expect that Thailand will be prepared for that?????

Don't get me wrong........ I am not 'Thai bashing'............. I am bashing the Thai government (Military Dictatorship) and rich folks who could care less about 'common Thais'............ I love the 'Common Thais' and it hurts me to see what they are suffering........

  9. Might I suggest 'GOOGLE' and other computer searching since you didn't get too much 'personal experience' replies.......... I did hear somewhere on the net or forum before that the RED CROSS is a most trustworthy Organization for HIV testing in Thailand for accuracy.........

But........ study and read 'online'............... It IS there.............   (even YouTube has a lot).............

EDIT to add........ I wouldn't stress too much however........... I have studied a lot and find that AIDS/HIV (Fortunately) is not so easy to catch.......... The virus is very fragile and has to live in 'ideal' conditions to survive a move from one body to another............. For women it is easier for the virus to survive the move mostly because the man's 'body fluids' can remain at a body temperature during the 'move' as HIS fluid remains inside her body at a consistant temperature....... HIV/AIDS virus cannot survive more than a minute in 'dryness' OR temperature above or below the human body temp. for more than a minute.

All reports I read state the 'majority of infections' come from sharing needles (blood to blood) and ANAL SEX (Torn tissue in Anus - body fluid to blood).......

I have Known so many 'men friends' who had big numbers of Thai girls ..... over the past 30-35 years and only known 1 man years ago who got AIDS, and HE was suspected of Bi-sexual Male Anal activity........

It is the girls who are at a MUCH HIGHER RISK as our fluids remain inside them for a long time..........

Have PITY on the girls (and cover your own ass) by using a condom (in proper/clean manner).........

  10. No one knows what SHE has been through......leading up to ............

But personally I hope she gets off 'scott free'............

My Thai wife has two brothers that are Thai Cops......... Both deserve the same treatment as this guy.............

And all we see for ourselves and read here on the forum....... Most of us have a good concept of what Thai Cops are like and then when this happens it is a 'pretty good guess' that he had it coming, and I for one can't blame her............

I won't even waste a RIP on that guy............ Just one less hand out at the roadblocks...........

  11. I can also remember when they first opened the 7 motorway from Bangkok to Pattaya years ago....... The contractors saved so much money building it by paying-off the Gov't inspectors and pouring thin concrete rather than  strong lanes that the truck lanes were impassable in many places and new construction/repair was began within just weeks of opening....... Let's see if the same happens here......

  12. Yesterday I actually drove my pickup a distance of about 10 - 15 kilometers from the 331 road to Hua Yai Rd.......... One side is 100% done and the other side has just one or two spots still pouring conctete for lanes.... all overpasses seem done....... Just a bit more on the lanes...... I drove it just after 6 PM when most working was done...... I have followed workers driving on it before...........

  13. I have just googled for 'CHILD HELP ORG's in Thailand'...... online and what I find is most sites are boldly concentrating on 'getting donations'.......... LOL.........

But some of them after looking far enough I found 'Contact us'........ so I pasted this  message on 5 child help sites::::::::      .......

..........."Are you folks aware of this situation?????

The story is a classic Thai ' hearts and minds' orchestrated photo shoot. The Thais are good at it. Popularity waning, time to set up a camera shoot, be it a policeman helping an old lady cross a congested road to a tuk tuk driver returning 500,000 Baht he found on his rear seat. Winning over hearts and minds is a common practice here. Some people fall for it every time.

You don't talk as if these kind of issues 'could possibly' touch your heart in any way..........

It sounds as if you think any situation deserving 'compassion' is a scam..........

I have to admit that Thailand is full of scams, BUT even so..... Half of those scams are coming from outside Thailand aimed at Thais......... The 'other half' of those scams may come from within.............. And they certainly make convenient excuses for some 'Cheap-Charlies' to keep the zipper on their purse closed and blame it all on a 'scam'......... I am still a beleiver and think for every scam there is 10 truly 'desperate-people.......... And I will go to the trouble to try to distinguish them........ It's not that difficult here in Thailand when you have gotten out into Issan and rubbed elbows with those poor folks.........

In your blind-sided mind you have clear 'pictures' of the g'ma having gold and land and other family members of the little having financial ability to help, etc...... Does that picture in your mind give us any hint as to why that little girl 'still remains' in this pitiful situation????????

Many TV posters on this thread are aware of scams as you mention....... But many of US are willing to 'unzip' OUR purses and help in varying amounts IF we can find a way to HELP without our help being stolen by middle people (Biggest worry being Gov't officials and also some of her family members)

So, Mr RALLY............ If you can find anything 'Constructive' to say...... IT IS an open forum ........ Jump in here.......... If you are only interested in trying to convert US to being 'Cold and Callous' Cheap Charlies........... then ..... save IT...........

Come on folks, members around Nong Khai, lets see some action, who is going to step up and do something?

Plenty on here live in that neck of the woods, help them.

Somebody set up an account for them, then members on here can contribute, COME ON LETS HELP.

Colin.......... I'm well with you but in Thailand it is worse than many places in the world ..... Wher money is donated for the needy (as this GM and girl) and 2% or maybe 5% of the donated money reaches the GM and girl...........

IS THERE NOT a ThaiVisa member in that area who could be nearby and find these folks and do a GOOD DEED by being a go-between for all us members who want to help but are afraid to because of this being Thailand........ I walk right PAST many 'donation collectors' in front of Department Stores in the US without dropping a coin, But I bring all that money 'Here to Thailand' where I can see where the money is going and KNOW for myself that 100% of my money has been effective........

ThaiVisa has a large membership in Udon and vicinity.... That can't be so far that some TV member couldn't make a day trip there and become 'OUR HERO' on TV.......

    Come-on...................

Hey mate..... I have a few Friend that are young Thai guys as well (and I understand)..... But I also listen to stories that Thai bar girls tell (as I'm out drinking around)...... AND MIND YOU I AM A 'BELIEVER' IN PERCENTAGES.......... And..... There is a 'pitiful' percentage of the Thai Guys that I describe also..........

Thailand ..... as in 'road fatalities'......... Is a leader in the Percentages of 'father-less babies.....

Please don't mis-construe that I mean to say all Thai men are without 'values'...... But it is 'horrible at the number of 'teen-age' Pregnant moms and 'Irresponsible' Young Thai Guys' and It isn't getting enough attention......... IMHO.......
