  1. Does any one know the requirements or why it is any more difficult to import a used Vespa. I have been told a couple times that it is more difficult the "used" Vespa than other ordinary bikes. This is for a friend of mine who imports 10 to 20 Motorbikes (from the USA) every 2 or 3 months and aparrently he says that there is some special problems with the VESPA. I am looking to hear from somebody that actually has some recent experience or can steer me to a source of information. I understand there is a "VESPA CLUB" in Thailand and I am posting this in hopes that some member or official of the club can help. I am in Pattaya till May 13th and then in the US. Any and all help will be appreciated.

Also, if there is a better place to post this topic (inquiry) I would appreciate help on that too...... Thanks

  2. I've worked at a croc place in NZ (we had the only 2 crocs in the country) and I've been in with them once. Scared the crap out of me, and these things were bloody dangerous. I can't even begin to explain the levels of rage I have seeing these kids put into such a dangerous situation, this image is everything that is wrong with the attitude towards responsibility in this place.

You said everything I would like to have said.............. So lucky that a RIP is not in order here................ some responsibile people shouldn't be..................

  3. This is why I either control the money in the family, or at the very least, I continue to monitor it.

Also, If you are married then you have an interest in the situation, so it is up to you to go to the police and let the police come and talk to her. I think the police would convince her to make official report and start the ball rolling to catch that low-life.

My Mrs. has a lady friend in Pattaya and a man working for the local government borrowed some gold from this friend for use in his upcoming marriage and scammed her. It took some coaxing by friends for her to go to the police but after she did talk to them, the guy has been paying her back monthly.

Edited for a word left out.

  4. Speaking with 30 years experience, I must add............... There is many ranks of Thai BARGIRLS........ those who just arrived from the village, those who been there 1 to 3 months, and those who have been there long enough to learn 'all' the tricks............. I'm not looking for a wife when I go to a bar, but just a nice friendly lady friend for an interlude........... My measuring tape or yardstick = How much English they can speak................... If they have had time to learn much English, they have had time to learn 'all the tricks'.............

  5. I haven't seen anybody mention that they were reported to the Border Patrol for a tip (or reward). This is how the Border Patrol and Customs catch many offenders. He may have stopped just down the street to pack her in the suitcase and somebody saw it and ran to give his license # and make of car, for a reward..

Presuming he was in love with her, people go to strange extremes and I really do have compassion for them if that be the case....

  6. My sympathies to the injured and RIP the poor young girl.

Everyone above seem se agree about the brakes. Most drivers seem to know about the brakes on a vehicle, But it should be emphasised to drivers carrying passengers that brakes have their limitations and teach these drivers not to drive so as to need maximum braking. As very likely in this case the driver was going like hell and it was impossible for the brakes to stop him.......... and then he uses brakes as an excuse............. there is a chance in a million that the vehicle developed a broken brake line just before that curve.

I've been a driver carrying passengers for hire (school and passenger busses) all my life and the companies I worked for 'required' me to attend many, many saftey meetings. And Brakes and following distance are the two things that they drummed into your head.

What a pity that life is so cheap here............... Obviously cheaper than training for these drivers...............

Also possible that the driver was just finishing up a text message just before the curve.

In any case this very young lady will be missed by many......... RIP

  7. I was refused at Bangkok Bank and went to Kasikorn and got an account in only my name with no problem. I don't even have a visa. Come and go frequently and only stay 30 days. Years ago I had a Krung Thai bank in the same manner. Just go to various banks and ask..........................

Edited to mention the Kasikorn branch in Big C Extra (the old Carfore Store) on Pattaya Klang (center road) and only paid a small ATM fee - no insurance required......................

  8. Well of course there would not be any hotel cancellations yet as they are still on the planes heading to Thailand. However there will be a lot of cancellations as these countries have now issued travel warnings and I already know some people that have changed their travel plans and are heading to another country or Island for a holiday.

I like your post and even moreso, I like your personal logo picture of the 'customs' dog being 'sniffed'.......... best regards...........

  9. Periods indicate that she IS NOT PREGNANT......... It is when she misses a period that it is time to worry. I'm not a doctor but I have had 4 wives and a hundred girlfriends so I think my credentials are much the same. But it is a well known fact that a woman who has missed at least one period has room for worry. On the other hand it is also widely known that a woman can't get (or be)pregnant when she has a period............ Sleep well and don't fret..............

  10. This happens to the most newly built houses,

because they did not use a pvc u-turn pipe,

that is a one way inside the u-turn pipe.

Even my hse also the same thing, it smells when it rains,

what i do, cover it up with a bowl on top of the hole in the toilet.

The smells stops. All the pipes connected together into the temporary

septic tank, and the gas reverse and goes back to the toilet.

    That the answer.

Dont demand too much on thai style constructions,

    many shortcuts they use, ok.

Some of the replies lead me to think their shower drains are connected to their septic tanks???

    Surely not!

MOST CERTAINLY THEY ARE CONNECTED TO SEPTIC TANKS - shower drains go the same place as toilet, bathroom sink, kitchen sink, etc. WHERE ELSE? In outdoor showers it may possibly just run off the edge of the cement floor to the dirt outside, But NEVER from a proper indoor bathroom shower...........

  11. I have heard of a number of false police reports made so tourists would then return home and file loss claims with their personal or travel insurance. The insurance companies require some 'proof of loss' and a police report is the best.

Seems I heard in Pattaya a number of years ago that the Police were so over run with this kind of report that they issued a public warning that false claim filers would be prosecuted.

  12. There's an easier way.

Send it to me, and I'll do a special trip to the US to deliver it to you. Email me for my bank details. It doesn't get any easier than that.

You sound like a nice helpful guy, I'll guess that you are probably one of those 'nice' Nigerian blokes just trying to be helpful. ...............

Just kidding, of course.......... Cute replysmile.png

  13. She may have wanted to keep a little bit of the money she earned for herself, and her 'mang-daa' (cockroach) boyfriend wanted it all for his own use. That would be typical for many of these local Thai guys who think the girls owe them everything. He was probably 'under the influence' of something he had bought with the money he just got from her last night.

The 'pitiful' side to the story is that when the police get him she will probably lovingly (and forgivingly) tell the police to let him go, believing that he won't do it again. And next time she will probably die from his attack. 'MonkeyHouse' is full of his kind..............
