still is not used to the mark up for juice by a landlord
i never experienced anything like this in the west
VIA LA DIFFERENCE
today we talked and he told me he pays 5 baht for electricity because it is a building in pattaya and they have variable rates like high.and low, i mai cowjai
i humorously did the math that he is getting 1500 a month from me in profit from this and i get NOTHING
in effect he said it offsets his costs which means i pay for his bills
gotta love it
i told him i would buy a meter, cost a few hundred baht
he did not care for the idea
maybe its time to return to life in the oven
i am not giving up, though after years they still want to squeeze me
bottom line sux
life is not perfect
but i am happy
sorry to hi jack your thread
best of luck
Deejah, it's common use in Thailand and it happens towards Thai and foreigners.
Very seldom you can see elec rates of THB 3.5 or THB 4 asked in case of a condo rental. In those cases you will have to pay the utility company directly. Overhead like gardening, security, pool maintenance, common lighting, etc will be charged in another way, but they will be charged.
-
i am just pissed a bit, it is not about the money, it is about principles, they should explain they will charge 6 bht and not 5 bht like they told me first
bs
You're right.......but it should be written in your rental contract.
If you don't have a contract or it isn't mentioned there, then you don't have a leg to stand on.

Got my first elec-bill for my 35m2 condo in Bang Saen.
Unit is charged at THB 7
Fridge, LCD-TV, water-cooker, airco, stereo, a floor-fan, shower-heater and some saving-light-bulbs are the users.
Aircon is turned on around 9 p.m. and turned off at 6-7 a.m.
Settings 25 degrees - eco power
Utility bill: THB 1371 for elec and THB 150 for water (min. charge)
Don't forget, that condo-complexes top up the utility charges as a kind of service cost for security, lighting in common areas, garden maintenance, etc.

About a year ago I bought a laptop.
Just recently I noticed that I do have a C:, D: and E:-drive
C: drive is 98Gb
D: drive is 249Gb (empty)
E: drive is 249Gb (empty)
The D: and E: drives aren't being used and only the C: drive contains programs, files and is basically my working-drive.
What's the purpose of the other 2 drives and how can I possibly transfer files onto them safely?

It means broken heart.
It means broken heart.
The she would be dead.... no?
No.....then she would have a "jai sia".

900,000 pieces cost THB 1,900,000,000 = THB 2,111 for one piece.
1,000,000 pieces cost THB 2,400,000,000 = THB 2,400 for one piece.
I was taught, the bigger the number, the lower the price............this will never be my purchase-manager.
Wait, it's even worse: the extra 100,000 pieces cost THB 5,000 each.

many businesses should remains Thai.
Especially the bar business in Pattaya & Phuket.
Is there any particular reason they should ?
Yes. Thai should be the the business of selling Thai meat.
In Pattaya & Phuket, Farang are selling Thai meat to Farang in their bars. Pimp is not a legal profession for Farang, besides, they do not have work permit to operate as a Pimp.
There are no pimps in Thailand........prostitution is forbidden, so no pimps needed.
Pimp is no profession, it's a vocation and a farang can be the CEO of a company that hosts service people and social workers.

Quote OP: "I wonder how many UK people here on ED visas that watched this programme agreed with the decision to deport them..... "
And I wonder how many study-visa-holders for the UK are being deported although they actually have the intention to study.
-
So far for the farangs, who think that only they are the target of police actions.
-
Come on people......stop moaning about safety, fire-doors, escape-possibilities, common sense, parking in Sois blocking the road, blocked fire-escapes, fire fighters in shorts, lack of water, illegal budget-hotels................isn't that why we all love Thailand?

When your agent brings back your passport and tells you what the fine was, ask him for a receipt from immigration and observe his reaction! It might be very amusing.
Offer your agent to join him to Immigration!

More nanny-state BS. Let people take their risks and then wear them.
Right, but obviously people take the risk and don't wear it. So what is BS here??
-
Maybe a bit superfluous, but a Thai visa is a "permission to enter" Thailand issued by a Thai Consulate or Embassy.
Based on your visa, the immigration at a Thai border or International airport will grant you a "permission to stay" for the length of the validity of your visa or the maximum period of stay per entry.
If you are able to obtain a long-term visa (mostly non-immigrant), the permission to stay can be extended.
Entering without a visa is under circumstances possible and you will be granted 15 or 30 days permission to stay in the Kingdom.

Pattaya City Hall is sub-contracting the English teaching to Burapha University EP.
As far as I know you have to apply with them.
The head of the English program for all Government schools in Pattaya is situated in School #7 next to/opposite Wat Chaimongkol along South Pattaya Road.

I suppose that the British Foreign Ministry is registering all cases, analyse them and come up with a clear view of causes and reasons of all the misery.
Afterwards the British FM could take its measurements to prevent this misery.
As far as I know, the Dutch Ambassador urged the Thai Government to demand a travel-insurance from each short- and long-term visitor to Thailand. Same as people who visit the Schengen countries........they need to have a travel-insurance.
-
As usual, the travellers must suffer for their mismanagement and incompetence.
Not sure I can agree with you in this case. I have previously started threads about queues and long waiting times, and have contributed to many more, so I know the scenario. However, the man is giving fair warning about the holiday period expected delays, so what can you blame him for?
Blame him for the fact that most check-in counters will open 3 hours before departure maybe?
Despite that, he is right.........some travelers seem to have to bad habit to arrive at the check in "last-minute".

I don't dare to suggest anything, especially if you're fond of Premier League football.
The Thai cable companies do broadcast a lot of P.L. football, but it's very hard to find on what channel and at what time. Even then it is possible that a broadcast will be skipped because the cable-guys of the Thai channel decide differently.
If P.L. footbaal, Olympic Games, Wimbledon and Tour de France is important to you: Take True Vision, including the sport channels (I think it's platinum) and after the events, switch back to a 'lower' package.

AFAIK the only flights from Utapao are to Samui and Phuket, so you would have to leave from and return to Suvarnabuhmi.
Taking a flight out and back on the same day means: leaving early in the morning from Pattaya and return rather late.
There's transport to the airport (min THB 850) and back to Pattaya (min THB 1000). There's the flight outbound and inbound (min THB 3,500). There's the visa to whatever country (min THB 0 up to THB 750-1000). This will give you 30 days.
Taking a minivan with e.g. 5-star visaruns will cost you THB 2500 all in. You'll leave at 6:30 a.m. and return around 4:30 p.m. and this will give you 15 days.
So, time-wise: it will cost you more time to fly out and in.
Money wise: border-run THB 2,500 x 2 = THB 5000 for 30 days. and flying is approx. THB 5500 for 30 days.
Take your pick.

No, no DL needed, but what you do need is either a work permit (showing your address) or a letter from Immigration "Certificate of Address" for the purpose of buying a vehicle.
AFAIK the latter can only be obtained if you do have a long-term visa (no visa-exempt or tourist-visa).
It would be a good thing if buying a car is only possible with a DL; roads would be a lot safer.

Not very long ago (after the floods) there was big concern for the dams to be too full.
Some dams contained 87% where 40% was allowed at the time. As a measure, 45,000,000 m3 of water was released on a daily bases.
This kind messages, do me realize where I live.
Heads up for the water-management.

Probably your business is too successful according to others.
You were telling that others offices in the area were watching how your were treated by the 'officers'.
If I were you, visit the Immigration office if you have time. Take a small gift with you and make an appointment with the 'big boss'. Become 'friends', explain the situation and ask what is to be expected in such cases.
Next they come to hastle you without showing any kind of ID, you phone your 'friend' at Immigration. Always works.
But believe me,it might rather be a tip off from a competing office.

Nothing like a bit of free labour to get the job done
I guess the paid cleaners who are already at these government facilities must be overworked.
The government don't want to pay the newly increased minimum wage.

Thanks guys, more than helpful.
I'll use one of the 2 empty partitions as a data-bank and keep the C;-drive for OS and programs.
Will start moving files by dragging-and-dropping now.
Thanks again.
