Been to Central now, XL shop there wasn't much better BUT found what I was after ta..........
Anyone know where to get a decent leather shoe with leather soles that arn't in that gay winklepicker style
One store in central had some decent brogues but they were over 5000B
Mr. Plumbs, very recently I bought a pair of Dr. Martens.
After wearing Bata and "Italian" brands for the last 7 years, I finally found a pair of Dr. Martens
All leather (except soles) and with re-inforced foot bed. Finally some shoes on my feet instead of plastic bags.
Price: THB 3200 instead THB 5800

Recently been hunting for undies, shirts and shoes at the outlet Mall
I am six foot, 100Kg fella, fairly normal/large foreigner
XL-Shop had no XL stuff at all! I was told only have M/L
Export shop the same story
Shoe sizes were a problem
surely this place is geared up for tourists!?!? and they wonder why it's quiet.........
Try Export Shop @seacon square, ground and 1st floor towards Robinson.
I think that Mr. Plumbs is talking about Pattaya.
He could try at FN Outlet store along Sukhumvit.
Did a considerable purchase last year of XL-sized underwear, shirts and slacks.

Don't people around the world get married everyday? Just yesterday there was a wedding in our estate and it hasn't made the world news yet.
Chooka, why you didn't update the happy people's FB-pages? Then it would have been World News in a minute.

I'm in the same situation.......from Bang Saen to the nearest border crossing with Cambodia.
AFAIK you either take Aranyaprethet (drive via Chachoengsao - direction Kabinburi) or you take Ban Laem (drive via Rayong - direction Trad-Sisaket).
I'm still having a dilemma: fly out to Phnom Penh for one day or take the border-run service from Pattaya.

"construction of the new underpass at the Central Pattaya intersection with the Sukhumvit Road will begin in October"
Funny but I was just thinking about leaving Pattaya for a couple of years.
Guess this confirms the decision!
I'm glad I already left!

Got this in my mail today (Thailand):
Malaysia is one hour ahead of Thailand, so there it will start at 00.00

How are they going to have a crackdown? Take more tea money every time someone is caught?
By confiscating the monitor! Should include these ever popular GPS thingies too.
Well, I suppose that the BiB know the difference between a GPS and a DVD monitor. Doubt it!

There was a time, that Immigration (inbound) would like to see the boarding-pass of the inbound-flight.
No word of this at the moment.
Hypothetical: If you leave the country your passport-# will be entered in the Immigration data base. Upon return, let's say 30 minutes, your data will be entered again and the Immigration-officer might notice that you have been "abroad" for a very very short time. Then maybe the question pops-up to see your inbound-boarding-pass.
I wouldn't take the risk.

You could try the service center in Soi Town-in-Town off Pattaya Central Road. (from Sukhumvit the first Soi on the right towards Town-in-Town Hotel).
The service center is halfway on the right showing brands as Philips, Sanyo, Toshiba, Soken, etc.
Not sure of they do TCL.
They probably have to order the remote, so take as much as possible info with you; brand; type; modelnr.; or make a picture of the label stuck at the back of the tv

Being so intoxicated that you don't feel the pain, driving a car............I suppose that the hospital treated him without anesthetics. Amazing <deleted>.

They dont appear to be suggesting that he fell from a great height, just tripped on the edge of the pool.
That's because there is no great height to fall from ... it's a two storey dump ... http://pattayaone.com/midtown.html
And a dump it is.........stayed at the place 10 years ago.........at that time I thought that it wouldn't last much longer.........

Scam or no scam?
BigC advertises a 50" LCD TV for only THB 19,900.
Promotion period 1-5/31-5-2012.
Depending on availability.
Customer goes to BigC on 1-5-2012 just after opening hours, wants to buy the LCD in the promotion and gets the answer: "Sold out, Misterrrrr!" Of course, the staff tries to talk the customer into a more expensive LCD tv.
Scam or no scam? I would say........no scam. The clause "depending on availability" says it all. Same as the clause: "from".

The music festival has been advertised for weeks so most have known to stay close to home, lay in supplies of food, or order in. Pattaya is a tourist resort so these types are to be expected and are a benefit to the economy. If you want peace and quiet, don't live in the beach/tourist areas or move to Paak Issaan.
You might be right FB, but the PMF was first announced to be held during the weekend of 16, 17 and 18 March, then it moved to beginning of April, but due to the Royal Cremation moved to the end of April.
Of course it was advertised weeks ago, but you have to agree that this year's edition of PMF was announced slightly confusing.
As for the OP..........whether you like the disadvantages of living in a tourist-destination or not..........just stay, there are so much more things that can be seen as an advantage.

I heard that some guys own Bars ? others sell suits (Indians with Cockney geezer accents only), some people have a business that actually owns their house....Elvis impersonators.....You missed a few Darrel !
I did.
An estate agent who does Elvis impersonations would indeed be something different.
Selling only jailhouses maybe?

Why complain about traffic and safety?
I know that PMF is a mess; traffic and safety wise.
I drove down from Bang Saen avoided Central Pattaya and went to Jomtien for a meal and an evening out.
Yes, had to take a detour around Sukhumvit and the By-Pass, but the few extra km's saved me probably an hour or more.
The fact that the BiB were unhappy, was most likely due to the fact that the traffic was so horrendous, that there was no time to stop traffic-culprits, because there was nothing to culprit and that at the end of an expensive month.

Quote OP: In Thailand you normally first get your receipt, then your money and only then your bank card"
In Thailand you normally first get your money, then a screen-display with a receipt and the question whether it should be printed.
If you push "YES" your bankcard will pop-out followed by the receipt.
If you push "NO" your bankcard will bankcard will pop-out right away.
Don't know about the advertising afterwards, most Kasikorn-ATM's do have advertising playing until you pop-in your bankcard.

The ministry of commerce is saying prices are rising but Yingluck is saying they are falling.
Maybe Yingluck should talk to her ministers occasionally.
Posted with Thaivisa App http://apps.thaivisa.com
Maybe, Ms. Yingluck should do some shopping for essentials at the nearest BigC or Tesco rather than going to Emporium for her weekly clothes-shopping tour.

The lake near Bang Phra Golf Club is filled up to its "neck" and aren't they building (maybe it's even finished) a huge pipeline from Rayong to Bangkok in order to supply Bangkok with de-salinated water?
BTW.......this morning in Bang Saen, it started raining at 4.50 a.m. and since then some torrential rains have been passed.

The only wave that can hit Central Pattaya is the wave of garbage that comes down the Sois Khao Talo, Khao Noi, Nueng Pleb Waan and Siam Country CLub after a long and intensive shower.

Falling asleep on your way to work after working long hours over the last weeks..........huhhhh?
Songkran 13, 14 and 15 no work.....probably on 19 same same.
1st of May Holiday and besides that...............all showrooms close after 5 p.m.
Working long hours? Yeah right. Being from home for long hours may be a better phrase.

Let your friend go on May 4 with his ticket.
They may extend his stay with 7 days counting from the 7th OR they just extend until he leaves the country.
Let him take THB 1,900, his passport and his ticket.

Chonburi - Amata Nakorn Area: Phoned ToT around 8.30 a.m.............line down due to broken fiber optic cable .... at least that's what the call center told us.
For now (Th 3-5-2012) everything normal.

Got stopped a few years ago after passing a truck.
From what I understood from the copper, I was not allowed to use the right lane, and had to pass the truck on his left (???).
I explained that it didn't make any sense, but he insisted: Pass trucks on their left.
So, after a few minutes of debating I took my wallet and asked: How much?
He only, replied: No more passing on the right lane na!! Go go!!
I left without paying.
Was this a BiB newbie or what.
Where To Do A Border Crossing From Bang Saen.
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
Maybe not clear from the OP, but yes, a land-crossing gives 15 days visa-exempt, but 60 days on a tourist-visa or 90 days on a non-immigrant visa.
Flying out and back in, will give you 30 days on a visa exempt. Rest stays same.
