  1. A local "legend" was that a Bath bus ride goes from 10 baht up to 20 baht once it passes Pattaya South. So when I take a PUBLIC baht bus from Jomtien and then I get off at Central on 2nd RD, I pay 20 baht. Makes sense to me.

To me too. IFAIK there are 3 major zones: Jomtien, Naklua and Pattaya.

Moving around in one zone is 10 baht and if you cross over to another zone it is 20 baht.

Example: From Jomtien Soi 12 to Naklua Road Soi 33 would cost THB 30.

  2. Getting a visa in Russia or in any other country belonging to the former USSR seems to be slightly different.

The rule applies: "Other requirements and/or documents may be required up to the Consulate or Embassy-staff's discretion."

Examples on hand from Kazachstan (ED-visa) and Uzbekistan (non-B for teaching purposes)

  3. They are designed for Bangkok Thais who want to get away for a short-time and tourists on holidays. They are like living in a hotel room. We have to understand who they are designed for but way too small to be practicable for a long stay. I find the units like VT1 at 32 sqm meter way too small as a person's personal residence so I can't imagine 21.49. I rented a VT1 unit and used it to store suitcases and boxes while I relocated to my new home. For that it served its purpose well but to live there? (yuck!)

Uhm, if you store suitcases and boxes in a 32m2 condo, leaving merely 21m2 to live on it may be considered rather small.

  4. There is no need to remove old report as it is still a requirement to present previous when making new report - they will see the new departure slip and exit/arrival stamp and count of 90 days will be from that point. As long as departure was prior to that previous report date there should not be any issue.

"Should not be.............." as stated in a previous post; leaving the old report un-necessarily MAY cause some confusion.

  5. An ED-visa can be submitted for numerous of courses as long as:

    - the school is registered at the provincial MoE.

    - the curriculum is approved by the same MoE

    - the total course per year is at least 180 hours

    - there are 4 one-hour classes per week

    - you attend at least 90% of the total course

Examples of courses: Thai language, Thai culture, Thai religion, Diving, Snorkeling, Thai cooking, different languages, Massage courses, Yoga..............

  6. Aside from this "new" situation, there is also the new situation at every T-juntion with Sukhumvit.

If you would like to turn right into North Pattaya Road, Central Pattaya Road and South Pattaya Road, you must wait at the red light. There is a sign "Stop here at red light!" and there are road markings.

  7. Thanks guy's,

makes me feel a bit better, for when i trudge to immigration and ask them for confirmation of new reporting date.

Don't go to immigration and ask for confirmation on a new reporting date.....they might find you annoying.

As stated by Crossy, the new period of 90 days started on 5-5-2012 and the new reporting date is on the 90th days after arrival......3-8-2012.

Indeed, remove the last 90 day-report from your passport and keep it somewhere safe.

  8. I know that my post maybe some what offensive, but there is one encounter with some Pattaya Tourist Police Volonteers that keeps spinning though my mind:

On day I was at the Jomtien Station (halfway up the hill) in order to prepare a report for Banglamung Police.

At the station were some PTPV's present and there was one guy: short, blond hair, hazel blue eyes, pale skin, tall and dressed up in a dark blue uniform with a military outlook...........really, the guy gave me the creeps and the total concept, guy + attire, placed me in a bad war movie and only the Kiss-trademarks on his shoulders were missing.

  9. I got so angry that no one answered 1155 that I went in to the station to inquire. I was told by the police in the Pattaya station that 1155 rings an unmanned line in some bangkok office. Further inquiry as to why they spent money to promote a number that is never manned got me nowhere. Just know, if you call 1155 you are wasting your time. The 038 number was posted in a previous post. Use that.

If you phone 1155 with a landline, 038-xxxxxx will be recognized by the disptach in Bangkok and you will be redirected to Jomtien Tourist Police.

If you phone 1155 with a cell-phone, the dispatch can't figure out a location and your call will be ansered in Bangkok and from there they will try to direct you to Jomtien.

Again, the Jomtien tourist police's telephone number is 038-429371

  10. Talking to one of my usual m/c taxi drivers this afternoon, he says the hospital on Soi Buakhao is also very good and cheap. That would have been better and closer for me. But the info was too late for me.

    <snip>

Do they mean that one near Soi 15 ??

Is that really a Hospital ? I thought it was just a Health Center

Yes it is a health-center, but within the perimeter of the health-center a brand-new Pattaya Government Hospital opened its doors some months ago.
