I wish my cynicism were wrong, but that's a subjunctive unlikelihood.

It's nonsense. They don't teach lots of that. Loyalty to Buddhist monks, the king and flag. Never ask questions. Cheat, plagiarize, copy, lie and steal big sums. Be a good Thai. It's not about learning.

Yes. And I doubt they'd accept advice from a farang who's fluent in advanced Thai.

Maybe I've been there 7 times in 7 years. No problem, nothing to write back to County Clare about.

My in-laws say their mother is baa.
You haven't demonstrated here that you know about primary, secondary and tertiary education in Thailand. They won't listen to farang. We had a seminar in Lamphun, with a professor of education from Australia who thought my mainly Midwestern USA accent was British. They paid her no attention.
I think I got more experience about Thai education in two years in Thai schools, than you have. But I'm often mistaken. You probably dress nicely.

There's a sign that says they're out of Guiness. Maybe a bilingual sign. You can read.
I've been there several times, with and without friends. Good food, and Coke Lite. I drink Guiness in Irish pubs in Ireland.
Staff seemed friendly.

Put aside what you learned in the USA. Almost everything. Get out of BKK. Have 15 extended conversations about education with Thais that didn't go to uni. Interview my partner's 77-year old mother in Muang Thai (she's not fully sane). Interview ten Thai administrators in Thai. You might understand.

el kangorito: I personally prefer your method on commenting within the quote in another color - even if technically it breaks a forum rule. I've never mastered the art of the +QUOTE button, either.

Best of luck to you, orang.

The trouble is that almost nobody ever takes two different TEFL courses. I met two who had taken their course and gotten a lot out of it. Our Teaching forum sponsor, SEE TEFL, is highly recommended.
Why do you say they are 'highly recommended' ?
Simply because they are a sponsor???
It's the only program in Thailand certified ISO 9001:2008 by Bureau Veritas. I've set in the course myself. Many graduates recommend it.

No limp wrists for me, either - and I'm gay.

When I fell off the bike in Mae Tang, I told the driver to take me to Majaraj. Out on 121 near Doi Sakhet, we went to the one near the superhighway.

My CBR's don't vibrate or go numb at any speed.

Assume that neither they nor the last several months of customers had checks, and have STD's.

Yes, we had strong family values. Taught them birth control. Didn't kick them out. Let the fathers know we loved them. First father-in-law was eldest of 15 children. She lived there while attending uni. Second grand-parents had both their kids by 17, and took her in. We don't abandon our kids.

Not being an Ozzie, I don't know what piss tastes like.

Sripat - I'm usually the only farang in sight. I don't speak Thai but I speak some batsi-kop.

If he rents his Thai home, sends the sprog to a Thai school, eats only Thai food, never returns to the UK again, never gets sick, etc.So, if the OP is comfortable living on the equivalent of 90 or 100K baht per month back in the UK, they will probably be equally comfortable here. -
We both stepped in to help our 17-year old and her younger 15-year old sister with their unplanned pregnancies by their future husbands. The in-laws also pitched in. The kids knew about birth control. Accidents happen. No abortions. The 17-year old had the baby during summer break and went to a fully paid scholarship at the best school in Texas. The younger stayed in school and she and husband earned GED's. If we had not helped, it would have been a disaster. Your mileage differs.

They don't have to do it 'our' way. But the way they teach doesn't teach Thais well at all.
