I don't think MOE regulates students to take TEFL courses.

No farang hit me once. A trillion Thais splashed me.

I spent maybe five hours between Chiang Mai and Lamphun this week. Not one farang in sight. Literally thousands of sober crazy moronic Thais lining the roads, shooting from vehicles. Directly in the face, on purpose. IQ's of 44. I taught in Lamphun for years. Lovely idiots.

I've been drinking 2.5 liters of diet soda daily, since the 1970's. I'd weigh 350 kilos by now, if drinking sugared soda.

I have seen the evidence from one of the agony sisters - Ann Landers or Abigail VanBuren: the vast majority of kiddy-fiddlers are straight men who rape little girls. The Vatican needs to fire all male priests and ordain only married women who don't seduce teen-aged boys. Your fiddlers are almost all straight.

Geronomo - great to see you.

They are separate, indeed. And look different. Neither has a blond pony-tail, but I do.

My first-ever long foray into madness was yesterday, traversing Old Lamphun Road from Nong Hoi to center of Lamphun and returning to Saraphi. We saw ten trillion Thais, not one Farang. Huge hoses, crazed Thais, some chubby and shirtless, all wet and happy. It was exhausting being doused countless times.

If you know how speakers of Spanish say their r (not rr) that seems to be how r is said up north here. With the tip of the tongue hitting the roof half way back. Or simply speak Spanish.

The topic is Thainess,. It is not about badmouthing farang.

Fine, we'll agree in large part. I'll concede it's not impossible. However, considering the large number of very serious problems and the failure of Thais to face them, I'll make a wild guess that solving them is extremely unlikely at any time in the foreseeable future.

"Kow Padt"
I know what you mean, Ian. It's one of the only Thai foods I eat. Hard to cook wrong. Never seen it spelled like that. And is it pronounced with a falling inverse umlaut?

I may be mistaken. But an educational system which relies on
Rote learning in secondary school
Rampant cheating and plagiarism
Widespread inefficiency among administrators who are bribed
Curriculum and textbooks which don't work
angrit teachers who can't pronounce academic
Multiple choice Q&A that make no sense
Lecture method droned by seated teachers who ask no questions and forbid students to ask
Etc. etc. etc. ad infinitim, are doomed to fail.

I interviewed for a 20K job at the private "blue rocket" matayom school off the superhighway in south Chiang Mai. Presented my bachelor's degree and TEFL cert. Her first question was to name the parts of speech, which I did. If you can't, you don't get hired.

When I've gotten all my extensions. I've never shown any of my three American pension statements.

If they stopped making carbureted bikes in January, and seem clueless about new bikes over 125 cc.............?

TerryLH, pardon my sentence structure. I should have said, "...Thai people are friendly and dress well. It helps if you speak Thai well."

Did I say I understood Thai culture, after 7 years of living outside of BKK and living and working with Thais? Nope.

My 2003 bulbs went out often. Haven't replaced a bulb in 22 months on my 2008. I'd ride it 30 meters and have Somchai replace it.

It's part of Thai culture. Taught everywhere here by Thais to Thais.
