Thai culture?
-
Even in primary school, you were taught to think for yourself. They taught you to analyze, even to question authority. You had to write thoughtful papers, marshall well-researched facts, and draw reasoned conclusions, by junior high.
I taught 12-year olds here. They were afraid to say "I don't know," or to correct my intentional mistake. They copied shamelessly, ignorantly. They could not answer simple questions in math. These schools are mostly a disgrace to the Thai students. It's the fault of Thai culture. That's my arrogant opinion.

WeeGB, I used to speed-type at 55 words per minute, accurately, for 50 years. Now I hunt and peck miserably, and don't catch all my typos. My suggestion to the Thai PM was in jest, as shown by the emoticon. You merely insulted me, so you're Shittish.

UG has been plugging City Life for years. Off topic.

Food was mediocre. Surgery great, but when it got infected later, they had no clue (nor did BKK). I got free consultation along with the Thai hordes at Maharaj, and got cured.

My partner's father is long dead. His sisters have nick-names that resemble: Ma, Me, Mo, Rakasanatatcha. The niece and nephew are easy. I don't speak their language, and vice versa. They visit weekly.

Please stay on topic. Thanks.

Sold my CBR150 in CMai 2 years ago. Passport copy only. Never had a WP.

My MIL doesn't speak Central Thai, just Muang. She's literally insane. I wai her.

Few farang support senior Thais. They were traditionally supported by many children and dozens of grandkids. They don't exist now.
-
I was set up to prove how 'rude' a farang teacher is to proper Thai ajarns.
I walked in drinking a drink.
I didn't wai.
I crossed my legs.
I touched an ajarn in public on the shoulder.
They were scandalized. But they pick their noses in public. They interrupt a conversation. They don't say good-by.

Do the customers realize these guys are guys in dresses?

Only bitten by one dog here, who lived in a mansion and was muzzled. I live in a Chinese village where the dogs run loose and don't bite.

Send the suggestions to the properly elected and voted in as Prime Minister of Thailand, who is fluent in Thai and English. Give them 100 more years to solve tje problems. And add that every Thai must speak American English.

I have my Thai partner do it.

So macho men don't kiss their girlfriends in public and in movies? Did a young Brando not penetrate that naked woman in Last Tango in Paris?

We stood by our pregnant daughters. They need your support.

Can we stick to the topic?

The Thai birth rates have plummeted since 1975 and they are not adjusting for it. Grandparents have gone from having 66 potential caregivers to five. The govt. won't help them.

My CM doctors are medical school professors. The best doctors in BKK were clueless. The long-awaited new hospital in Hua Hin was expected in late 2005. The smoke's bad for 2 months. No jellyfish here.

Armed guards at McDonalds reminds me of Guatemala City. I had to hold on to my luggage in the queue.
Great place to live here.

I have yet to feel fully rested in Thailand no like I do back home in the states, no matter how long i stay. The combination of jet lag, heat, humidity, pollution, and accommodation that isn't ideal always leaves me tired. I'm wondering if I should get a dehumidifier and air filters or something for my bedroom in Thailand to achieve something more like home...
I never sleep well traveling by plane, train or bus. My trip can last 3 days. It's the entire travel that wears me out.

Don't talk to them.

I live where we have ten excellent hospitals and six top international schools.
