Controversial media influencer Andrew Tate arrested in Romania.

What amazes me is the wrath that Greta brings out in these guys who criticize her. The first place I saw it was in this forum. A teenage girl with a pro-environment stance -- what is the threat? -
Now that we're going back to the origins of the brilliant man's thoughts at the time of the purchase: https://www.thetechoutlook.com/internet/politics/political-attacks-on-me-will-escalate-dramatically-in-coming-months-elon-musk/ It sounded like a ploy for him to become the most familiar name on the Internet. That is what he thought he was buying. Now he is just a smiling clown who carries a sink with him.

Federal prosecutors are investigating Rep.-elect George Santos’ finances

No matter: he's a Republican in a Republican-majority House. That puts him beyond culpability. Contrast this to the way the Dems forced Al Franken out of the Senate for a pic of a silly sight gag from long ago. The chatter in the pundit-sphere is that the GOP has such a slim majority that they can't afford to give up one seat, so they are getting set to put up with this guy for two years. Let's keep an eye on him -- if he knows they're going to dump him in 2024 he might betray his MAGA loyalty just to spite them. He may prove to be even more dishonest that 45. -
5 Causes of New or Increasing Negativity in Older Adults
bendejo replied to Social Media's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
For me it's the narcissism, this obsession they have for taking pics of themselves. But I can look away and forget it all, which is getting easier in my old age. I'm in the same demographic. Around 1970 I noticed that for a lot people they had the appearance thing going on (hair, clothes, pictures on their walls, claiming they took certain drugs or read certain books when they actually didn't, etc) but when it came to the values they just didn't "get it." I realized cool was something that could be bought, and the ones who put the most effort into it were not cool at all. Fortunately I figured out by the time I was 19 that living to impress others was not the way to go. I can't count how many times I've heard, since those days have passed, guys telling me "you should have seen how cool I looked back then, I had hair like Jethro Tull!" I still see the fringed jackets as the epitome of phony. -
Cassidy has emerged as the Profile in Courage of this infamy. https://www.businessinsider.com/cassidy-hutchinson-googled-watergate-to-help-decide-whether-to-cooperate-with-january-6-committee-2022-12 I would like to know who this "member of Congress" was. For a completely opposite perspective try to dig up what turned out to be the on-air audition for Kayleigh McEnany on Fox News. A few days later DT brought her into the WH. The summary of what she said is that DT is always honest and correct, standard business kiss-ess statements.

Three Michigan Men Sentenced to Prison Terms for Aiding Plot Against Whitmer
bendejo replied to Scott's topic in World News
Generally US law is tough on kidnapping, I guess it goes back to the media frenzy around the Lindbergh case (which was before my time). I see Whitmer as potential presidential material. The thing about these MAGA nuts is they blame the LE officials personally for locking them up, not the laws themselves, just like their leaders. Even after all this 45 stuff with criminal charges is settled (when will that be, 2035?), there could be a long procession of people who received death threats to themselves and theirs due to his instigations filing civil suits against him. -

To paraphrase the old US television ad "this is not your father's Republican Party." Politicians have always done something in the vicinity of lying, the word used in the US is spin. But in recent years GOP politicians have been able to blatantly lie and not be taken to task, neither by the party nor any sort of gov't enforcement. In some cases it's as obvious as asking why the cookie jar is empty and the kid with the crumbs on his face says "it wasn't me," but not as cute. When the media figures it out they are condemned, "fake news," and that great piece of sage wisdom "haters gonna hate." This trend really kicked in around 2015: gee, I wonder who started it. ???? When Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn made that statement about GOP pols doing coke and having sex parties notice how quickly they gave him the bum's rush. Proof of how effective they can be when they want to. Doesn't matter now, their brand is ruined. I lived in Brazil for a while. Last night while watching the news I learned Santos was Brazilian, I immediately had an image of people I know down there who upon learning this would laugh and nod their heads and say "malandro!" (duplicitous). This guy even looks a little like Kari Lake.

Crisis unfolding in the wards of Beijing many line the hospital floor !

It was about a month ago that China was having demonstrations/riots, seems the populace was going stir-crazy with the lockdowns and took to the streets. It worried the gov't, they lifted the quarantine, the crowd cheered and went home. And the cases have been piling up since. It is now "this is what you want, this is what you get" time. -

Waiting for one (or more) of these convicted MAGA felons to file a lawsuit against the MAGA leadership (ahem!) for directing them to do these things while assuring them that lawyers will be provided if there are consequences. Recall DT at his 2016 rallies telling his fans that if someone is disruptive to give them a beat-down and he'll cover the lawyer fees. While I don't think there was a literal directive to kill her the animosity engendered by T World is definitely a factor. Gonna take a crafty lawyer to connect the culpability dots. One of the 1/6 seditionists claimed he was there at the direction of the then-POTUS, this might be the basis for the first action. -
