TW actually state that the money is not sent internationally but simply deposited in your account from a thai account after it is deposited/transferred to their account by you in the originating country, this is how they keep the prices down. All my TW transfers to my Bangkok bank account used to show up as foreign transfers until recently when they changed their banks but you can still show the correlation of your original deposit in the US and the arrival in your thai account to show it is from overseas. I am sure someone in here on another thread said they are able to get bank statements also showing it is originally from overseas. Been with TW for several years, they have always been very transparent about what they do

I transfer 2 times a month from the US to BKK Bank. All my transfer except 1 came in as International transfers.

I wonder sometimes why people refuse to pay.

Most that don't pay are usually Thai, and they know they can get away with it.

Seems just about every village has this problem.

About 5%-10% of the houses in my moobaan have been abandoned.

Probably purchased on 90%+ home loans.

The grass is shoulder high, the water and electricity meters have been reclaimed.

Don't think there's anything, anyone can to to make them pay the fees.

There are 4 houses in our village that the bank repossessed. We called the banks and asked they take care of the grass/weed issues. Each bank did with no issue. BUT, refused to pay the village fees.

Call the banks they will accommodate you.

    Illegal.

We have the same problem. 40% of the home owners refuse to pay the village fees.

We looked into it and legally, we can have the water and electric meter removed but the Thai board members won't make a decision. This has been going on for 5 years now.

They might not accept your application.

    See this topic. https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1129621-savannakhet-making-the-rules-up-as-they-go/

But he was trying to get a single entry non-o visa.

Why do you want to do it early. You could get a new 90 day entry from your visa up to midnight on the December 23rd when you visa expires.

I was there yesterday. My Visa was to expire on the 14 Nov.

They had other issues with my new application but didn't have any issue with a new Visa 3 weeks early.

Be sure to have your original marriage cert.

Because you can’t .. they only accept credit cards or ATM Transfer, which has never worked for me or the Kasikorn staff.

Yesterday I bought a new iPhone and iPad, so I would need to print off an A4 page, make 3 withdrawals at the ATM and take that money inside to the counter to pay.

You can’t even use your card or bank book to transfer the cash.

Wow, things must have changed. A couple years ago I bought a Mac Air direct from Apple and used my BKK Bank debit card as I don't have a Thai CC as well.

Perhaps Apple pays a larger fee for debit cards... and no longer accept them

The paperwork to be submitted are always the same. I have never had problems at Savannakhet. This thread seems to be a useless outburst, based on your own carelessness.

I arrived yesterday and we were about twenty in a row, I arrived 15 minutes from the opening and I was the eleventh.

What carelessness??? Where does it say that an original marriage cert is required. What if it was lost?

That is why they issue Kor Ror 2. To prove you are married.

Seriously, can you not grasp it for yourself? They are MULTI-ENTRY visas so therefore for people who plan that come in and out through the year, they are NOT for people to plot here for the entire year and only leave the country as they are forced to..the visas for people who wish to live here all year are the extensions of stay. Don't come back at me and ask me anything again on this as that's your lot.

Oh please, get a life. So many get MULTI ENTRY and leave every 90 days to avoid any financial questions they may be asked at a 90 day report.

    Jeffrey346,

Is the requirement the wife "must" be with the applicant?

Or the applicant just needs to ensure (hope) he got all the necessary docs signed properly by the wife who stayed behind in Thailand?

Pending your answer I'm going to assume the wife is not required and would only be needed to resolve/re-sign something that gets challenged by the consulate.

Good question Pib. More members should be posting like you rather than telling me what I coulda shoulda done.

As far as I know they do not have to be there. There were many there for marriage visa's without their wives. I watched many get processed with no issue and one rejected for a signature issue.

It doesn't sound like he was making up the rules at all.

You wanted to get a visa based on marriage, and couldn't present a marriage certificate??? ????

And complain about not being given one?

You already have a visa that allows you to enter the country for another 3 weeks, and will get 90 days POTS when arriving!!

    *shakes head*

I had a Kor Ror 2. Which proves marriage. Having a Visa to re-enter is not the issue.

A wasted trip to the consulate it seems. You could of just done a border run before your visa expired and got another 90 day entry or applied for a 60 day day extension to visit your wife to get more time to apply for the one year extension.

They have been wanting to see the original marriage certificate for years now. Many reports about that.

It wasn't a waisted trip as I had other reasons for going to Lao. It was actually killing 2 birds with one stone.

I was well aware of the 90 + 60 day extension as I discussed it with you about a week ago.

The reason for my post is and according to the Tuk Tuk drivers and local shop employees across the street...  IS:

Consulate employees have complained about the increase in individual traffic and the agents soliciting infront  of the consulate.

They are now scrutinizing every peace of paper. Case in point, my wife's 2 signatures did match. My wife was standing next to me and rather asking her to sign again, he pushed the papers back at me.

I also witnessed them asking 2 people for financial proof and I was never asked for my original marriage certificate a year ago.

As I said in my OP.. Be prepared.

That's the maximum annual coverage provided by the policy.

If someone were to have a serious medical condition / involved surgery and recovery time here, a single private hospital stay can reach into the millions.

Government hospitals are going to be cheaper than privates, but the quality of care and professional knowledge and expertise at hand can vary considerably from place to place. Not to mention the physical conditions and the ability of the doctors, nurses and support staff to communicate in English.

I believe our resident medical person/mod Sheryl generally recommends expats living here get medical insurance coverage of at least 3 to 5 million.

Sheryl has also recommended Gov hospitals over private hospitals in the past.
