There are 3 types of hospital in Thailand.
1. Government hospital
2. Private hospital for people paying into the SS scheme
3. Private hospitals.
You are using No2., it's a private hospital so it's more expensive.
I use No1., and pay the actual costs plus 50bht for being a foreigner.
You are wrong. I know which hospitals I go to and they are all what you refer to as No 1.

No, I just go and pay, you're using a private hospital, I use the government hospital.
NO.. Thai Gov ins is only available at Gov Hospitals. I would have to pay full rate at private hospitals.
I don't know how you're being charged less than B300 including meds if you are not covered by the Gov ins plan.

I get non-Os, 90 days, just came in on my 10th back to back.
I don't know anyone that ever got an O-A, too many rules and restrictions.
Use the government hospitals all the time, usually costs me under 300bht every 3 months for my hospital visits & regular meds.
It costs me B280 for any hospital visit as I am married to a Gov employee. My meds which cost B25,000 are covered by the same B280 fee.
Are you married to a Gov employee as well?

I don't agree. There are officially only 1 tourist visa available, the 60 days TR. A person on long stay is not a tourist.
Really.. When you go for your 90 day report, it asks type of visa. what box do you check? Could that be tourist?

Strange comment. Why would a Thai national need a OA visa?
Sent from my SM-A500F using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
I think he wants all Thai Nationals to have to pay for health ins. He doesn't know that all Thai Nationals are covered by free Gov health ins.

So the non-immigrant O-A visa is now a tourist visa?
It has always been a tourist visa.

Is there any remote chance of clarifying this and hopefully make the issue clearer.i.e. will this be implemented for O.A. visa only or are they saying all expats above the age of 50 .thanks in advance.
Right now it's for OA Visa holders. It would not surprise me if everyone over 50 will be required too in the near future.

After all, Thailand is a medical tourism destination ...I think that's a myth. I have only heard of one person who came here specifically for med reasons. How many do you know of??

I'm relatively certain that 80,000 number includes extensions of stay for retirement applied for within Thailand, not 80,00 new applicants for O-A visas. Unless you think the number of retirees in Thailand doubles every year.
This report (https://news.thaivisa.com/article/38177/the-mystery-of-exactly-how-many-expats-live-in-thailand) says:
"According to figures in the 2019 Thailand Migration Report, there are just 150,707 expats residing in Thailand, of those 72,969 are retirees."
150,707 seems like a very low number to me..

And then there's pre-existing conditions which will never be covered. Personally the chances of me needing a long term hospital stay would pretty much be related to pre-existing. 50kbht + pa wasted on a health policy that I couldn't use. If 'risky' persons, of which I'm one, are to foot these so called unpaid bills how about letting me legally pay into the Thai health system as a requirement for my long stay and of course have the use of the service as a Thai.
Why would the Gov cover high risk foreigners? That would cost them more than thos that are skipping out on the Med Bills...

The Thais themselves have posted the numbers in articles on other posts. It was not that much
I have not seen the numbers.. BUT if they are low, why would the Gov. get so involved and mandate med ins. Doesn't make sense to me...

No, there are no numbers that back up the Thai's stated reasons. yes there are some deadbeat bills out there, but not an enormous amount
How would you know how many skip out on hospital bills?

IMO, it's the landlords responsibility to pump the septic tank. In addition, if the house needs painting, That's the landlords responsibility as well.

2 wrongs don't make a right. IPTV is not hardware (a tv) it is software that has tv channels to watch. Your statement is not correct.
Beg to differ.. The TV is simply a Smart TV. The OP called it an IPTV which is not correct.

Not really, a smart tv and IPTV are not the same thing. IPTV is a software that offers various channels to watch depending on the one you go for.
From Wiki - Internet Protocol television (IPTV) is the delivery of television content over Internet Protocol (IP) networks. This is in contrast to delivery through traditional terrestrial, satellite, and cable television formats. Unlike downloaded media, IPTV offers the ability to stream the source media continuously.
If you read the OP's post, he referred to the TV as an IPTV. My statement certainly is correct.

So I agree it's a Gov hospital. Not a Private Gov Hospital. I had a stent done at Khon Kaen Hospital. The Bill was B278,000. I paid B280.
If I was not covered by my wife's gov plan it would of cost B278,000.
