Does anyone know why the 90-day check even exists?
I believe that it was initially required as confirmation that you still live at the same address. However, at least in my neck of the woods, when one reports in person they do not ask for your current address (Tm47s are no longer required at my local Immigration Office).

In Phuket, they give you a new 90-day report date with your new extension.
I currently have two 90 day report dates. One is 22nd August 2021 which was issued in person at Surin Immigration. The other is 28th August 2021 which was issued on-line. It definitely appears to be a left hand/right hand situation.

Your passport and previous receipt (and filled out TM47).
Here in Surin Immigration, just your passport with the previous receipt affixed. No need for a completed TM47 thereby making a mockery of the reporting requirement.

Does the extension date from the end of the current extension or the date you extend?
Again, only quoting the "rules" as interpreted by the Surin office:
Your new extension will commence upon expiry of your current extension whatever date that you apply for renewal. Unless, your passport expires within your current extension.
Clarification: If your passport expires within 12 months after the end of your previous extension, then your new extension will expire on the same date that your passport expires. Your next extension, if approved, will then expire 12 months after the passport expiry date.

If my extension to stay is valid until October 8th. What is the earliest I can get it renewed?
Our office (Surin) used to be 30 days; then changed to 45 days; then recently changed back to 30 days. It's a bloody nuisance because you do not discover the latest whim until you get there!

Right. Extension isn't until the end of next month so we'll see what happens then.
What's the risk? If you do it online and it works, you've saved yourself a trip. If it doesn't work, you can still go to the office. For the most part, the online system has worked for me since they brought it in. I know that's not been everyone's experience but I don't see any 'risk' in using it.
A local colleague here won't use the on-line system. He says it's not trustworthy. I told him that "if" the on-line software works, you are sent an on-line receipt advising of your next report date. Print it out and affix it to your passport. What can possibly be untrustworthy about that?

I succeeded in doing my first ever 90-day online last week, and had it approved instantly as well. I was amazed.
However, nowhere does it mention when my next report is due. (??) Should I simply add 90 days to my last due date (22 June)?
It should advise you to "print out the receipt" which will indicate your next reporting date. That should then be affixed to your passport. However, it is almost certain that your next reporting date will be 90 days from the approval date (not your last due date).

It would be of benefit if when reporting failures of the on-line 90 day reporting process the Immigration Office to which you normally report is defined.
They all appear to operate independently.

Nobra , the app. will send your co-ordinates , a little box comes up asking for permission to find them for you and fills them in automatically.
I was not aware of this until I heard a guy here ordered food via Panda from the pub. He then left the pub and went home but never got his food!
Doh!

The slip also had in the Remark box: "Same visa expire".
So is this a change in policy procedure in 90-day reporting to use the extension permit to stay date instead of granting the full 90 days?
That happened to me when I reported in person during the website malfunction. I have since had my next online application accepted.

"......I really don't know why"
I've found that to be a very difficult statement for most Thais to make.

Maybe at the office you report to. My office here in Isaan does not change them to the the day my extension ends.
Surin Immigration, Kab Cheong. The new office in Surin itself is now open. They will likely do things differently. You cannot expect any similarity between offices to give us a clue, can you?

The whole system is so disjointed.
When you do your yearly extension , you are putting your address on a legal document .
So why is that not restarting your 90 day reporting ?
Here in sunny Isaan the 90 day report is linked to your extension. If your 90 day report is submitted less than 90 days before the date of your extension expiry, then your next 90 day report will be due on the same date as your extension expiry. AFAIK this only applies to "in person" reports.

It could be the system did not record your new extension date. No sure how it works.
My status check currently shows my previous 4 on-line reports. It does not show the two "in person" reports (one when the site was down and one just over a week ago).
[Edit: status check was via laptop]

Is it a fault in the system, or did the IO not enter your details when reporting in person/ by post?
I reported on-line on 23rd May 2021. Approved on 31st May 2021 giving a new reporting date of 28th August 2021.
I applied for and obtained my 12 month extension of stay on 25th May 2021 at which time I was also registered for my 90 day report and given a new reporting date of 22nd August 2021.
What is on the computer?

It's not a problem really. I have my 90 day report confirmation from a personal visit at the time of my successful extension application. I was only checking out the system.
My 90 day report (submitted on 23rd May 2021 was approved today. Next date 28th August 2021. I now have two dates for my next report; 22nd and 28th August 2021.

I've had a couple of on-line application that weren't approved within a couple of days, so I cancelled them and re-applied, and got approvals on the re-apply.
I'm not sure if they somehow get lost in the system (or down the back of the e-sofa).

I'll try again in August.

I was one of those although I submitted my application on Sunday morning and have still not had approval.
My on-line application of last Sunday is still pending at 17:15 today. The actual date is 06:06:2021 so there is still plenty of time.

Yeah I know, that would indeed be contrary to the way things are done here in the Magic KIngdom. I love living here but I guess we should learn to accept that's just how things are. LOL
I appreciate that it's somewhat off topic, but I submitted my TM7 today, double sided as recommended by this forum, with my photograph glued in the appropriate space on the back. The IO representative, removed the photograph, copied the rear of the form to which she then re-stuck the photograph to the copy, and stapled the two pages together after scoring out the information on the rear of my original submission.
You couldn't make this up!

SInce I first begin using online reporting 3 years ago. the system has always been quirky to say the least. With it being down for so long this year, I assumed they were finally rebuilding it to function properly. I guess not!
How hard could it be to fix? I mean, can you imagine going to any online shop and running into these issue when trying to pay? It's not rocket science. Any competent programmer could make this thing work like a charm. Just a big mystery to me why they don't, especially during a pandemic where there is every reason to keep people out of Imm offices as much as possible.
But that would be sensible?

I believe there's still a law on the statutes in UK that requires you to carry a supply of hay in your taxi cab (for the horse).
