Frankly no idea nor I suspect has anybody else.  This week drove from Udon to Phitsanulok. Next day to Bangkok and then back to Udon. Encountered no checks other then the customary glance you have a valid parabor . So if there are rules then all those provinces I drove thro' then they are either not applicable or not understood or not being enforced. The latter would be unusual given the RTPs normal behaviour.

Think it's a classic YMMV! Quite literally.

We were headed there a few weeks ago, and that's what we read from the Trat provincial government website.  Or, that you had to be tested by your hotel on arrival.  None of that is true.  At least for the 2 people who went there last week!

For me, it's not worth the gamble. Maybe it is if you're just rolling down the road without a care in the world (I wish), and it doesn't matter if you get there or not, but if you've got business to attend to at your destination then getting denied entry would be a major PITA. And I'm not prepared to jump through all the hoops for a 3 day round trip.

I was planning a similar trip.  Most info is in Thai.  Wifey did the research, but it's hard to find what's really going on.  One website said mandatory quarantine, another said just temp checks.

My friend on Koh Chang said several of his friends just arrived, no checks, no issues at all.  One came from Bangkok another from Pattaya.

A recent source in Trad itself showed me a Thai infographic that said anyone coming from the 14 red zones or the 4 dark red zones needs a test and a medical certificate. Impossible to tell as usual where the truth lies.

I registered with Pattaya Memorial hospital on 15th May via email, I sent all the info they requested ie: name, DoB, Passport No. Telephone. I received a reply a couple of days later saying I was on the list and they would email or phone as soon as they had more info. ????????

Hmm. You might want to chase that up. They have a new procedure. Not sure what happened to the old one!

By chance I have been there as well yesterday. They had a bigger operation going on to vaccine 2000 Pattaya City Officials. The doctor that treated me said he had been vaccinated already 2 times with Sinovac. They showed us as well the sign you mention which is the banner that appears on top of their home page for weeks and no further information. Normally I am very satisfied with their service. Normally.

Having tipped everybody off about Pattaya Memorial Hospital some weeks ago, as one hospital that is accepting registration, I dropped by there today. BIG crowd of government workers all jumping the queue as per Prayut's instructions. The hospital couldn't find my original registration. Said they had had a lot of foreigners registering. They don't have it computerised, just the usual bits of paper. However, I did manage to re-register very easily and saw two other guys doing the same. It's incredibly simple, so I would recommend it. It may be a while, but maybe worth the wait as she said most likely Moderna. Probably have to pay, but I'm good with that. Maybe 3500.

PS reckon I could knock up a quick registration app for their computers. Probably take an hour or so, depending. I'm sure there are many farang out there who could do it in their sleep! Shame really, but their IT departments must be asleep.

In several parts of the country they are actively signing up foreigners, with vaccination dates as early as 1 July.  Some places, like Chiang Mial, even have special outreach for foreigners.

It does depend very much on where you live. As is so often the case, mixed and unclear messages from the central level have led to wide variations.

There is no reason to think the foreigner app will nto be released as stated. How many bugs it will have, is another matter.

There is not a nefarious plot to deny foreigners vaccination. Just really poor leadership and an inability to formulate and communicate clear policy.

I didn't say there was a nefarious plot to deny foreigners a vaccine. I said the means of getting one using a pink card was nefarious. I think the only plan we are part of, is the plan to delay vaxxing us until Siam Bioscience gets its xxxx together. At which point, we'll probably be charged for it.

It's true though from what I read here, that some provinces are offering jabs to foreigners. Where they get the vax from is a mystery to me. Is it state allocated, per head of population? Or what? Pattaya is getting 20,000. Half the original amount. And we've yet to see if even that materialises. We're supposed to be high priority on account of the   ̶s̶e̶x̶ tourist industry, on a par with Phuket, Chang Mai, etc etc, but there's no evidence we are of any importance at all.

The app is only registering the over 60's and those with chronic disease this month.  The target group is estimated at about 11 million so would need to get a little over 7 million vaccinated from that group. Some people have registered in person rather than by app.

This is actually a higher rate of registration than I had expected...though the over 60's, in any country, tend to be pretty motivated  (and less likely to be reading scare stories on social media).

Will open up for all ages registration starting 1 June

For Thais of all ages. I don't see any hope of a jab until they've jabbed as many Thais as they can. We, the over 60s with underlying conditions, unless we've found some nefarious way, including the infamous pink card lottery, to get a shot, will have to wait until August at the earliest. Everything else is totally misleading, fake news, IMHO. All the apologists for the Thai government - yeah, go get your shots, you deserve one I'm sure!

And the much heralded farang friendly version of a Thai app to get registered? Vapourware!

Instead of worrying about whether you have a pink card or not why not enquire at your local government hospital.

I live in the North of Chiang Mai Province and yesterday along with a few other farang friends registered at the local hospital.

We were all  given an appointment card showing our name and the time and date in early June and advised that we will be given the AstraZeneca vaccine at no cost.

The process took only a few minutes and if you haven’t used the hospital before all that was needed was proof of address ( eg driving licence)

I cannot believe that it is only applicable in this Province.

It certainly isn't applicable in Pattaya, at least, not generally. Both Banglamung and Pattaya City are objectionably aggressive in turning away foreigners, at least in my case. There are stories, mostly from up country, where people seem to be having much more success, either by personally attending a hospital, or who have Thai wives who are able to register them.

I'm not going to pursue this stupid nonsense any further. I'm registered at one private hospital. I don't feel threatened by covid. Cases have been in double digits for a week or two in Chonburi. I can see where the cases are. To hell with the stupid system here! All it's doing is setting us all against each other. Got us all running around like headless chickens.

As I stated in previous post, requirement has been in place for about 9 months. Probably initiated by the Embassy staff at the time.

Well it's odd because up until now I'd been under the impression Thais weren't required to test before departure. Maybe different in India? A lot were arriving and testing positive. There have been several outcries as to why it was so, but there we are.

I am not surprised at Pattaya City Hospital. For decades medical facilities in Pattaya have been aimed at those that can afford to pay, other than the small government hospital at Naklua the Thais have been ignored and now they have a hospital I would doubt they want falangs coming in about. It may be worth trying the Naklua hospital, Banglamung being private will not be in at the beginning.

I have said many times on this forum that foreigners in Pattaya should consider the university hospital at Bang Saen. It is only about 40 minutes on the bus and a few minutes on a baht bus. They are foreigner friendly, out patients are seen in a brand new building and prices are very reasonable. I used to get my hypertension tablets from Fascino on North Road with a discount card, saved around 30% when I started getting them from the hospital.

They have 2 registration forms, Thai and English, if you use the English you use a passport. My wife did the Thai for me with my Thai ID when I registered a few years back. The hospital put me on the Mor Phrom app, all I had to do was pick a date.

Great info. Just one note. Banglamung is very much a public hospital! Thanks!

    Why the continual misinformation?

Do you have a link indicating expats were "invited" to register on the app on the first of May. No you don't, expats took it upon themselves and then complained about it not working as they thought it should.

As for the other forms of registrations like village heads and local authorities/hospitals can you back up the statement "But the vast majority of high risk expats were excluded from that."

I and many others have posted they had no problem registering for the vaccine. Those looking at private hospitals were looking in the wrong direction, the vaccine rollout is a government initiative.

Just called in at Pattaya City Hospital looking to register. Rude. Only Thai people. Same result at Banglamung 2 weeks ago. Come back August. Well I said, good luck with that, cos if the expats don't get jabbed, they're not going to be out and about spending their money, are they. It takes two, right? You can jab all the bar staff etc etc til the cows come home, but with no safe customers, you're dead in the water.
