I agree with most of what you say HOWEVER, Anutin was the problem. He was in such a hurry to be the HERO that he did not think it through.
I compare it to drinking Imagine if you took a country and said okay, drinking is legal with no rules.
If Anutin's advisers had been on the ball, they would have looked at the issues and not only legalized it but established some of the parameters before or at the same time.
If they did not talk to the medical community or others officially or unofficially, they were derelict in their duty. It is called Due diligence, and every action has a reaction.
Imagine if they passed a law that sex was legal anywhere in Thailand. What would the side streets and nooks and crannies of NANA be like
All that would have got everybody bogged down, and nothing would have happened. Due diligence on what? The likely, or even possible, outcomes of liberalisation? Maybe they did work on that. Maybe their conclusion was it was safe to proceed. But no, there wasn't any legislation. There wasn't even a vote on it in parliament. The Thai FDA simply removed it from the Category 5 narcotics list. Yesterday's ruling has added cannabis flowers back onto the list, but the "legalisation" of the cultivation, consumption and selling of the rest of the plant appears to have been, well, let's just say, given the nod. I think it was, since 2018, legal for medicinal purposes. What Anutin and the FDA appear to have done is simply broaden the acceptable use. It's not like it's a new drug, requiring years and years of testing etc etc to gain FDA approval. Neither is it patentable, though I'm sure there will be patented cultivars and brand names emerging, if they haven't already done so.

What you have here now is small scale...
once main arteries are opened up watch it grow exponentially.
Not sure what "it" refers to. Chinese/Thai corruption? And opening main arteries... A very Roman way of dying. But surely the only way the link from Laos to Singapore is going to get built is with Chinese engineering and financial backing. Thai fruit growers in Chantaburi and Trad, not to mention in the south, are reaping the rewards of massive trade with China. You can't hold it back. And I don't hear Thai traders, nor Chinese traders, lamenting the increased volume in trade between the 2 countries. It's business, to quote the Godfather parts 1 and 2, just business.

I've seen what China has done inside Cambodia and Laos..
And it is coming to Thailand.
I'm intrigued. What do you see coming that isn't already here? Plenty of corruption, mafia, scamming, illegalities, cartels, etc etc.
An amusing anecdote: I have a fairly hiso Thai friend who was ecstatic after discovering she has 67% Chinese (Han) DNA. And only 17% Thai. Or perhaps I should say "Thai". She also has 6% Finnish DNA. ????????????

He said 'probably' so I don't think you'll be getting that link you're after.
I was after a link to his statement that
"There are many Russian and Belorussian nationals in Pattaya serving as Tourist Police volunteers." The "probably" covered the first statement only.

Secretly Thailand is back tracking on this and dragging it's feet as much as possible.
What at first seemed like a good idea they suddenly realised that it would bring in competition from China, cheap goods and food.
Thailand doesn't want competition.
Trade is trade. It works both ways. I see the China haters are still around. Gone quiet now on "the Chinese virus", haven't they? So the fall back is Chinese goods. Ever been there? Ever seen the extraordinary infracture, the bridges, roads, they built. It's mind blowing.

The project is Kumming to Singapore, Thailand is only one section.
That's what I was getting at. Where is the Thai section? There was once a project to connect Myanmar to Vietnam by road, rail and ship. What happened? The road more or less ends at the Cambodian border. The rail link is years away, and though they have deep water ports at Map Ta Put and maybe Klong Yai, Sihanoukville etc, the link hasn't materialised. ASEAN not really taking it forward despite endless meetings boasting BCG, cooperation, etc etc. Yes, bio, circular, green seems to just lead you to BWYS - back where you started.

Also, it is a taxable sale in countries where it is legal.
The catch to all this is that there were no restrictions put on the sale and there was no set agreement it seems that the people that wanted it legalized had set parameters.
Anutin in his stupidity and following along with all the great things he did with covid just said to hell with it lets take it off the books and let anyone sell, smoke, grow and harvest,
YOu can not do that there need to be rules on where how, and who can sell. Not only to limit the sale but also to ensure the quality of the product.
The last thing any country needs is someone selling <deleted> pot or pot with a kick. because something else is in it.
I can remember buying what I thought was good stuff only to find that it was twigs and <deleted>. also with the level of THC these days there needs to be a control.
Thailand has enough trouble with drunk farang that it really does not need to deal with the pot head-stoned farang
Again I am not against legal medical use I am just against some kid sitting on the side of the street selling it to whoever wants to buy not knowing what they are buying.
But that's half the point of legalising it. You can control the legal cultivation, distribution and use. Buying from a licensed premises is surely better than street legal. I've bought potcheen in the sticks, laced with horse tranquilliser. Sure, gave all colours a deep glow, but kidney failure was just around the corner. If the liberalisation, I wouldn't say legalisation as there seem to be all sorts of questions as to what that really means, had been done in any other way it just wouldn't have happened. Endless committees, sub committees, enquiries, studies... You know what I'm talking about. It would have all been shelved as too problematic and difficult. Anutin took the plunge and jumped in the deep end. Kudos to that man. I say. Ok. Now look at regulating the various aspects of its legalisation.

Reading on here and the news the legalization was supposed to be for medical reasons which is not a huge issue. I am aware and support CBD if used in medical issues.
The problem was that anutin and the PPP removed it and left it to the wild wild west style of action.
If this had been done properly and the medical community had had their input and were listened to.
If when it was legalized, it was legalized with the rules in place.
Imagine if they had opened up the toll way to motorcycles.
Fact that Anutin was seen as a great thing, and most people at first thought did not care. The problem was that there was not rules and we ended up with everyone and anyone selling the product and no control.
Remember, this is the same Anutin that said everyone should wear masks and got upset and said that Farang should not be allowed in the country
The solution is simple and is somewhere else.
I think that the lawsuit is what is felt to be the best tool to get Anutin and his people off their assets and start taking the action that they want.
As to many people being upset, I think there are more people upset with the way it was opened than those trying to benefit from it.
I don't see any protests from the public. Why on earth would there be? If you want to get stoned, get stoned. If you want to get drunk, get drunk. Live and let live. I really don't think it's a big issue for millions of Thais. Maybe for the rightist, royxxxst, dyed in the wool conservatives, yes, but that's because they like to control people, and maintain power. Allowing people the freedom of choice to smoke weed, or not? That's taking democracy too far for some, to quote W.C. Fields.

I don't see the grounds for this lawsuit. Are they stated anywhere? Are there legal grounds? Maybe there's a copy floating around somewhere.

What seems an oddly well informed article on the whole issue:
Will buying and smoking weed suffer the same fate as prostitution, gambling, and "grey areas" of immigration? Known to exist, but somehow tolerated.

I doubt they'll be affected. You could always buy weed in Thailand. This is more to do with giving Thais the opportunity to start legitimate businesses, cleaning up the drug culture and safeguarding users. These politicians are blinkered idiots.

I agree, they are a very surprising inclusion. Even Pheu Thai you'd think would take a more enlightened stance. They'll lose a huge amount of votes of they succeed, and serve them right.

In Thailand ??..... Do any of the clubs, restaurants, bars or even major shopping malls, or any public places have any of this ?
He, or us (foreign readers)... He (owner) seems to know everything he needs to to circumnavigate laws and get illegal business running again... Its us who haven’t learned anything if we expect anything else.
This will be an exercise of wash and repeat.... Raid... pay off the BiB, re-open... stay open for a few months, raid, pay off the BiB... and so-on... If its profitable, then it works - its only about the bottom line.
I don't know the answer to your question. Or was it rhetorical? You'd need to check with the licensing departments at city hall to find answers. Who knows, there may well be properly licensed premises. Of course, that in itself won't guarantee your safety. So, always check your exits immediately upon arrival.

How do you get to the clasp, remove the necklace from the wearer's neck, and make off with it without these dumb axcxc noticing? The owner's probably cursing the guy who returned it. Scam foiled. It was gold painted lead. And the picture! Could have been downloaded. These guys are giving ladyboys a bad name.

The previous owner, if such he is, claims to have been ruined by compensation payments to the families of the deceased. But where is his insurance company? Where the public liability insurance, the fire department checks, etc etc that should be mandatory before you can get a licence. He's begging to be allowed to reopen, but has he learnt anything?

The second suspect then snatched eight marijuana joints which were being sold in front of the cannabis shop, costing 1,000 baht in total, before running and speeding away on the motorbike.
Dunno who is the daftest. The shop for putting weed outside where it can be stolen, or the thai druggies using their own motorbike to steal it.
Or AN for carrying this piece of non news from PN. ASEAN news? Some kids nick 8 joints and it's headline news across South East Asia. These feeds from PN and PKN are proliferating. When are we going to get "Police (and PN) rush to scene after man allegedly slips on dog txxd, reportedly almost falls over"?

I have the same SIM and could confirm that AIS sucks, but at least it is better than Truemove. I have made a few topics about it:
(please note that AIS should have a "Shít tier" - I was not able to edit the opening post to change its "Low tier" to the real value)
However I'm getting 2x higher speeds than advertised - about 30 mbps, so for casual browsing/youtubing AIS is OK.
But when it comes to connections to Europe it is a huge PITA, I often get 100% packet loss while my phone with DTAC SIM has zero problems at the same time.
ER, this is a bit confusing. You say you have 30 Mbps for "casual browsing/YouTube". That far exceeds what's actually needed, surely? A lot depends on the servers you're getting routed through. And as for "connections to Europe", do you mean phone calls, or European IP addresses/websites? You mention 100% packet loss, which would indicate a serious routing problem or a dead server somewhere. A connection to Europe will more than likely be routed half way round the world. Try running tracroute/tracert or ping using the site you're trying to connect to. Maybe a bad DNS server. I haven't experienced that degree of packet loss since the days of 2400 bps dial up modems!
