I agree with most of what you say HOWEVER, Anutin was the problem.  He was in such a hurry to be the HERO that he did not think it through.

I compare it to drinking  Imagine if you took a country and said okay, drinking is legal with no rules.

If Anutin's advisers had been on the ball, they would have looked at the issues and not only legalized it but established some of the parameters before or at the same time.

If they did not talk to the medical community or others officially or unofficially, they were derelict in their duty.  It is called Due diligence, and every action has a reaction.

Imagine if they passed a law that sex was legal anywhere in Thailand.  What would the side streets and nooks and crannies of NANA be like

All that would have got everybody bogged down, and nothing would have happened. Due diligence on what? The likely, or even possible, outcomes of liberalisation? Maybe they did work on that. Maybe their conclusion was it was safe to proceed. But no, there wasn't any legislation. There wasn't even a vote on it in parliament. The Thai FDA simply removed it from the Category 5 narcotics list. Yesterday's ruling has added cannabis flowers back onto the list, but the "legalisation" of the cultivation, consumption and selling of the rest of the plant appears to have been, well, let's just say, given the nod. I think it was, since 2018, legal for medicinal purposes. What Anutin and the FDA appear to have done is simply broaden the acceptable use. It's not like it's a new drug, requiring years and years of testing etc etc to gain FDA approval. Neither is it patentable, though I'm sure there will be patented cultivars and brand names emerging, if they haven't already done so.

What you have here now is small scale...

once main arteries are opened up watch it grow exponentially.

Not sure what "it" refers to. Chinese/Thai corruption? And opening main arteries... A very Roman way of dying. But surely the only way the link from Laos to Singapore is going to get built is with Chinese engineering and financial backing. Thai fruit growers in Chantaburi and Trad, not to mention in the south, are reaping the rewards of massive trade with China. You can't hold it back. And I don't hear Thai traders, nor Chinese traders, lamenting the increased volume in trade between the 2 countries. It's business, to quote the Godfather parts 1 and 2, just business.

I've seen what China has done inside Cambodia and Laos..

And it is coming to Thailand.

I'm intrigued. What do you see coming that isn't already here? Plenty of corruption, mafia, scamming, illegalities, cartels, etc etc.

An amusing anecdote: I have a fairly hiso Thai friend who was ecstatic after discovering she has 67% Chinese (Han) DNA. And only 17% Thai. Or perhaps I should say "Thai". She also has 6% Finnish DNA. ????????????

Secretly Thailand is back tracking on this and dragging it's feet as much as possible.

What at first seemed like a good idea they suddenly realised that it would bring in competition from China, cheap goods and food.

    Thailand doesn't want competition.

Trade is trade. It works both ways. I see the China haters are still around. Gone quiet now on "the Chinese virus", haven't they? So the fall back is Chinese goods. Ever been there? Ever seen the extraordinary infracture, the bridges, roads, they built. It's mind blowing.

The project is Kumming to Singapore, Thailand is only one section.

That's what I was getting at. Where is the Thai section? There was once a project to connect Myanmar to Vietnam by road, rail and ship. What happened? The road more or less ends at the Cambodian border. The rail link is years away, and though they have deep water ports at Map Ta Put and maybe Klong Yai, Sihanoukville etc, the link hasn't materialised. ASEAN not really taking it forward despite endless meetings boasting BCG, cooperation, etc etc. Yes, bio, circular, green seems to just lead you to BWYS -  back where you started.

In Thailand ??.....    Do any of the clubs, restaurants, bars or even major shopping malls, or any public places have any of this ?

He, or us (foreign readers)... He (owner) seems to know everything he needs to to circumnavigate laws and get illegal business running again...  Its us who haven’t learned anything if we expect anything else.

This will be an exercise of wash and repeat.... Raid... pay off the BiB, re-open... stay open for a few months, raid, pay off the BiB... and so-on...   If its profitable, then it works - its only about the bottom line.

I don't know the answer to your question. Or was it rhetorical? You'd need to check with the licensing departments at city hall to find answers. Who knows, there may well be properly licensed premises. Of course, that in itself won't guarantee your safety. So, always check your exits immediately upon arrival.

The second suspect then snatched eight marijuana joints which were being sold in front of the cannabis shop, costing 1,000 baht in total, before running and speeding away on the motorbike.

Dunno who is the daftest. The shop for putting weed outside where it can be stolen, or the thai druggies using their own motorbike to steal it.

Or AN for carrying this piece of non news from PN. ASEAN news? Some kids nick 8 joints and it's headline news across South East Asia. These feeds from PN and PKN are proliferating. When are we going to get "Police (and PN) rush to scene after man allegedly slips on dog txxd, reportedly almost falls over"?

I have the same SIM and could confirm that AIS sucks, but at least it is better than Truemove. I have made a few topics about it:

    https://aseannow.com/topic/1263948-isp-technical-support-contacts-needed/?do=findComment&comment=17708331

    https://aseannow.com/topic/1236854-ais-vs-dtac-vs-truemove-true-h-technical-info-for-it-nerdsnolifers/

(please note that AIS should have a "Shít tier" - I was not able to edit the opening post to change its "Low tier" to the real value)

However I'm getting 2x higher speeds than advertised - about 30 mbps, so for casual browsing/youtubing AIS is OK.

But when it comes to connections to Europe it is a huge PITA, I often get 100% packet loss while my phone with DTAC SIM has zero problems at the same time.

ER, this is a bit confusing. You say you have 30 Mbps for "casual browsing/YouTube". That far exceeds what's actually needed, surely? A lot depends on the servers you're getting routed through. And as for "connections to Europe", do you mean phone calls, or European IP addresses/websites? You mention 100% packet loss, which would indicate a serious routing problem or a dead server somewhere. A connection to Europe will more than likely be routed half way round the world. Try running tracroute/tracert or ping using the site you're trying to connect to. Maybe a bad DNS server. I haven't experienced that degree of packet loss since the days of 2400 bps dial up modems!
