    T21 Foodland

Finally got round to visiting this place at 3am. Obviously no problem parking. Come out on bike parking level M and it's across the road, up the ramp and in. AC cafeteria. Decent menu, not a lot dearer than street food. Drinkable coffee @ 42 THB. Sweets for munchies like banana fritters and ice cream, and usual Thai dishes, untried. A grade up from the Klang branch. Usual shopping offerings. Plus deli. Handy for the sleepless in Soi 6 brigade.
  2. People just ignore the system and there are no police to enforce it. Initially there were and they were issuing tickets. But now....? Nothing. Annoying to have to go all the way round to get my 99 THB special at Cheap Charlie's. Same on the main one way system. 1am or whenever always motorbikes travelling the wrong way and the occasional car. But that's pretty par for the course here.
  3. "As of March 2023, Thailand has about 3 million civil servants, 1.75 million of whom are government officials, while 1.24 million are employees of state enterprises, universities, hospitals, public organisations, or are temporary staffers." Hence the spread.
  4. Yeah, as I thought. Gargantuan Gorgonzola. 4GG. Silly man.
  5. Yeah, there's still outages late evening I find. I've switched to watching snooker on BBC 2. Eurosport is total crap.
  6. Try this: https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/policies/40032690 And there are plenty more. How do you know what margin of error they are supposed to have allowed? "Sounds like"? Totally worthless comment.
  7. Estimated numbers of civil servants varies between 1.5 and 3 million. The largest employer in Thailand.
  8. Reportedly? Where? As usual no sources. Are you just making this stuff up? I see defamation lawsuits flying your way.
  9. Er, I think we are. Otherwise, as Hitchens said, "What can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof." So nothing you read here is believable. Just as I always thought. It's just a daily roundup of articles mainly from other English language sources. If the sources aren't quoted, the whole forum becomes utterly meaningless.
  10. "More and more criminals seem to routinely carry guns". This is not the basis for a cogent argument. If there's no demonstrable proof, there's no argument.
  11. Who gives a shxt? I don't live there. But as for "facts": https://www.statista.com/statistics/476456/mass-shootings-in-the-us-by-shooter-s-race/ Most deaths by gunshot are suicides https://www.prisonlegalnews.org/news/2021/jun/1/us-doj-statistics-race-and-ethnicity-violent-crime-perpetrators/ "The report concluded that for whites and Blacks, “there were no statistically significant differences by race between offenders identified in the NCVS and persons arrested per the UCR. White and Black people were arrested proportionate to their involvement in SNVC overall and proportionate to their involvement in SNVC reported to the police.” It seems to be a popular myth that blacksxand Hispanics are responsible for all the ills suffered by whites. Mass shootings in the U.S. by shooter’s by race/ethnicity as of December 2023: https://www.statista.com/statistics/476456/mass-shootings-in-the-us-by-shooter-s-race/ It's alright. You can take your head out of your ass now. Peddaling disinformation on line can have consequences.
  12. Baked in? To what? Sing a song of 6d...? Yeah, if you're going to blame it all on immigrants, Americans have been killing each other for centuries. The Irish? Probably the most violent of all. Then there's Italians. The Jewish gangsters. The thugs who ran the slave trade and the plantations. And to think, all the Brits did was to raise taxes without giving the colonials the vote!
  13. The UK has been being invaded by migrants since the year dot. Nothing new here. Get over it. Time to move on. (I love those phrases. What my arch brexiteer enemy used to love bellowing at me when I mentioned it might be tough for the younger generations to go and work in Europe thanks to Jonno and his idiot cronies.) But about arming the cops. We don't in the UK have a 1st Amendment thankfully, we don't even have a written constitution, so you don't see civilians armed to the teeth roaming around blowing the brains out of anyone they don't like the look of. I've met plenty of Americans who absolutely relish the European model where you can have a heated discussion and not risk being offed. I call it civilization. You might call it something else, if you're not woke and proud of it. Libtard? Mangina? All rightist insults from Middle Ages America, or middle aged if you like. Update... I see most countries in the world have armed police of some sort of another. The odd exceptions appear to be notably China, New Zealand and the UK. So I guess so long as the general populace isn't armed, we can feel reasonably safe in our beds at night. I am over 70. I've never once even touched a gun and I have no wish to. Got my own make and model and I keep it where it belongs. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Police_firearm_use_by_country
  14. Maybe they're having to cut the beachside power further up where the diggers are out so they needed to bring a feed across from the other side. It reminded me seeing them there of the sinkhole that opened a couple of years back and swallowed a large lorry head first. Took a while to sort that lot out too. Diversions and what have you. Course, scooters always find a way to beat the traffic, and the traffic systems, don't they? I do love the new found, or maybe it's ancient, open air picnicking on the huge beaches down that end. Pickups full of collapsible seats and tables, and all the street food vendors, and 7s, Tops and restos. Under the stars. So much room!
  15. I answered this earlier. I think they were caused by underground cabling taking power across the road to beach lights. The contractor maybe received complaints, or maybe it was planned, but he's come back and levelled them off.
  16. What in heaven's name has this audio transcript from Catch 22 got to do with the op post? The guy has been badly wounded by anti aircraft flak. The 2 GGs. What a pair. Or maybe they're one and the same. Oh yes, maybe you hadn't noticed but the Thai police are armed. Does it help? Better law enforcement?
  17. Why not quote the original: "He/She who pays the piper, calls the tune"?
  18. So according to the first 2 photos, it's started. What's the plan? I never did find out. Uprooting trees not a good sign.
  19. Yeah, bar all Aussies, kiwis, ssafas, Canadians from the UK. All they want is a terraced house in Balham!
