  1. Yeah well, I'm not usually out and about at that time in the evening so I found it hard to believe that people put up with it. I stay away from Pattaya itself. It was great during COVID. But it's quite literally gone down the drain since then.
  2. No. You gave an idiotic interpretation of events. Poland was divided? Explain!
  3. They certainly were allies. The Ribbentrop/Molotov pact stated just that. Create a buffer? Against whom? And gain time? Over whom? So dividing up Poland was perfectly acceptable? All that crap from Medvedev and Putin about being the saviours of Europe? Then carving off an enormous chunk of people and territory who in no way wanted anything to do with the hated Soviets. Plus ça change. They're hated everywhere and quite deservedly.
  4. Not a lot to report, except there seem to be signs of work commencing about half way along. Large sections fenced off in the one way section. I went all the way down to the Na Jomtien end last night at about 1930. Nightmare! The bottleneck created by the narrow strip of road about half way caused an enormous jam in both directions. I pulled over for a coffee in the 7. The guy serving me said it's the same every night. So why are they working a mile up the road when the real problem is a mile down the road? They've started closing both gates at the bottom of Pratamnak Soi 5 onto Dong Tan Beach rd, by the big 7 at 10pm, open again at 0530. So not even the bikes can get through. Going north you can chance it but it's a tricky Thai style descent over bricks and stones placed on the steps down from sands caff. The stench of open sewers is everywhere in this hot weather. How in heavens name they can front Pattaya as a 5 * resort town I've no idea. It just stinks.
  5. What I meant was, the USSR initially, in 1939, was an ally of Germany and invaded Poland alongside Germany. The only reason they switched sides was because Hitler invaded Russia. That's why they say "Can't trust Putin any more than you could trust Hitler".
  6. 21 people in 2 small houses. Acute labour shortage in Thailand. They'll be stamped in no doubt about that. But what an incredibly nasty bunch of comments here. Same for the Thai women in Korea. If all you can come out with is chuck 'em out...just fatuous.
  7. Well done girls. The Burmese, Lao and Cambodians should do the same here.
  8. Ok, I stand corrected, albeit in a rather weird patois. But by then, Europe was completely overrun. Hitler was staring across the channel. Something caught his attention to the east. Moscow! Yeah, what a great idea that turned out to be. But apologies to Anzac and all the others who fought side by side. My intended meaning was that, without the US, the allies were stuffed, in Europe and the Pacific. The USSR's part in all this was quite accidental. They started the war as allies of Germany, and ended it claiming they had single handedly defeated Nazism, after Hitler invaded and died in the process. And they're still saying that today, leaving out the first part, of course.
  9. "Ban Khai district chief, Thotsaphon Borwonmote, reported that no one claimed ownership of Win Process post-fire." Shouldn't be hard to trace though, surely?
  10. He charged me 900 for vacuuming both ears. I'd say about 10 minutes max. And the problem (itchy ears) remained totally unresolved. It was a fungal infection. At that price might as well go to Bangkok Pattaya hospital. But don't let them use the monster microscope. They charge you an extra 400 THB. And try and see a lady specialist. They're a lot more pleasant. And buy your meds at Fascino, just 50m away.
  11. The USSR defended itself, that's all, same as Ukraine is doing. It then got Roosevelt and Churchill to agree to its annexation of the whole of Eastern Europe. Having invaded Poland alongside Germany in 1939. You're reading Russian history books I guess. The yanks saved Europe and never ever forget it. And the Pacific.
  12. Not a single Thai hotel in the top 25 on TripAdvisor, and Swampy at 58th for airports on Skytrax. Hardly what you'd expect from Big Willy's Hubble bubble wet dream. https://www.ttrweekly.com/site/2024/04/tripadvisor-reviews-name-the-worlds-top-hotels/ https://www.ttrweekly.com/site/2024/04/skytrax-names-2024-top-airports/
  13. Usually there'll be a regional or global map with the cities with servers available. You can click on a city or select from a list if there is one. It will connect to wherever you select. You can experiment by connecting, running a speed test, then disconnecting and trying elsewhere. I don't use Proton, but it's how it works with Nord.
  14. I was the OP on reporting the 3bb problems. Since when it seems to be running ok, but can develop a glitch around about 2200 for maybe 2 hours. Or so it seems. But has been ok for most of Eurosport, which you can get ad free on Sophon, and other UK and US sports and movie channels. 3bb were reporting cable damage only a few days ago as reasons for continuous buffering, so they appear to have changed their tune now things have improved.
  15. The dogs have all been whipped into place. You want the ministry? Get in line!
  16. Is this what we can expect from Thai Examiner in future? Hysterical non scoops? How absurd!
  17. Yes, if your model works. But why then aren't you crying foul for every police general and all ranks below, if that's the way it works. Knocking off the top tiers of a pyramid has no effect on the stability of the pyramid. Remove all senior sergeants might have more of an effect. They seem to be involved in all things bent. Crucifying Hakparn won't achieve anything. He'll just be replaced by a stooge from party HQ, aka Tony Towers. Hakparn's the only hope, our man on the inside. Get rid of the cancerous cohorts!
  18. Yes, but damning him because he's a top cop just isn't good enough. How many senior policemen in Thailand go for the PM's jugular? How many went for Prayut's or Prawit's? Nobody dared. It's probably completely without precedent. I say go Hakkers, go, no holds barred. The pork Pie Party has fought dirty all along. Kick Big Willy in the nuts. He's had it coming a long time.
  19. Quite agree, but @spidermike007 makes it his prerogative to find this guy guilty before any trial has even been mooted. So, I find you guilty, spider, of all kinds of stuff because you're a foreigner, and we all know foreigners are all guilty as hell. So we're going to deport you. No, no appeal. No point protesting. This not your country. Go home. Next!
  20. Seems Community Federal Savings Bank is Wise's partner in the US. All the details are in your US $ account details.
  21. Because it wasn't there when I posted mine. Anyway, yours is just gross.
