  1. Great idea. Maybe coffins should be placed at strategic intervals on major roads. With signs saying "Will this be your next stop? Slow the fxxx down!".
  2. Carrying fertilizer? That was in the article following this one.
  3. "The policy committee will be split into two groups. One will conduct public hearings while the other will assess the project. The first group will gather comments from the public and both public and private agencies, with a two-week deadline set. The second group, without a deadline, will scrutinise the handout results, including any alleged corruption." First group, 2 weeks to organise and hold public hearings? Any online capabilities? Two months I'd say, minimum. Maybe 2 years. Second group? 3-5 years. "The NACC also advised the committee against utilising language that could mislead people into thinking the scheme is a promise to give policy, in accordance with the Organic Act on the Election of Members of the House of Representatives 2018." Lol. Where's the Election Commission? A bit late for that isn't it? It was in their election manifesto. PT should be disbanded for blatantly trying to bribe the electorate. A "promise to give" policy has to be their speciality. All jam tomorrow.
  4. Possible he's not comparing like with like. My daughter rents out a studio apartment in London, E3, for over £1000 pm. 45k THB. High end condos or pool villas I think can easily command that kind of rent. Maybe even a week. When I first moved to Pratamnak 30 months ago, I was paying 5.5k THB pm for a 1 bed ground floor flat in a very decent development. It's doubled since then.
  5. These guys weren't able to show proof of anything.
  6. If it's suspended (and pita's conviction et al is pending appeal) I don't think it prevents anyone from running for office. Section 98 of the Thai constitution: (6) being sentenced by a judgement to imprisonment and imprisoned by a warrant of the Court. It doesn't mention suspended.
  7. And where's the evidence the "surge" is down to a visa free policy? Government claiming all the laurels. Taiwan and I guess may countries have had visa free policies for years. Mr Johnny-cum-lately Sweater thinks he's the saviour of the nation.
  8. Leasing is possible I think. But not purchasing. Any foreign ownership, no matter how small, of the company will prohibit it from buying land. I visited my local land office just 2 weeks ago as I have a foreign buyer who was hoping to buy my place with his well established local business. No way, I was told! He will have to create a 100% Thai owned company which then leases the property back to him, or uses some other means to transfer use. The contract will have to stipulate the Thai "owners" of the company are not empowered to sell or otherwise dispose of the property, or occupy it I guess. I don't think this is uncommon here, so maybe someone else has more details.
  9. I came up against a similar problem when attempting to close a deal with Chinese buyers for my house here. Long story short, their suggested method of RMB transfer and exchange into THB was obviously a money laundering exercise which involved a great deal of risk. Maybe these phantom buyers have the means to complete purchases, but how many more dodgy deals are we going to read about in the near future?
  10. Oh ok, I didn't start this thread, I started one that had the same subject. She noticed a sign which read Thai passports only in the empty channels adjacent to where she was standing. She was departing. It was chaos. That's what she messaged me. 8 days ago.
  11. And where do you think the massive rip off hospitals buy their meds and then mark them up 5 fold and push them out by the trolley load in their pharmacies? 60% of Thai healthcare profits are via meds. Ever wondered how they do that? You're no safer buying here than in timbuctoo.
  12. It was I who started this thread. She was at BKK, in a very long queue for foreign pp holders. The lines for Thai pp holders were empty. That's all.
  13. Not at the time and place of my daughter's departure.
  14. Wrong there. Canada was the first to criminalise it in 1923. Your anti US bs has got the better of you. Check it out: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_cannabis Seems South America is the best bet for carefree cannibal raisin uptake. Asia the worst.
  15. I watched the presumably chairperson of the CC reading out what appeared to be the CCs verdict, but all in Thai. On YT. I'd like to see a transcript also.
  16. I wonder whether they will bring in the recrimilisation bill considering how many businesses opened as a result of decriminalisation. Doesn't it qualify top of the list of soft power attractions? You know, the old lure and skewer game so popular here? Where's Nepobabe when you need her?
  17. Yes, but immigration might want to see a death certificate.
  18. Not sure that would work here.
  19. Who did nothing, at least, not on camera. Oh wait. The headline says they warned them.
  20. China must have realised that Thai politicians are more or less incapable of finishing the railway link. All it needs is the Thai section between Bangkok and Nong Khai, already partly built, and a link up between Nong Khai and Vientiane, and the rest is already built all the way to Kunming. You can sense Yi's frustration. And all Coco can come up with is "Can we have a panda please? Thai people loved the last one you gave us! And now he's dead. Waaaaaah." What a clown! Here's a tip for China. Give up on Thailand. It's good for a cuppla weeks hols, a loada prawns, some very tasty ladyboys, and some great scams. But business partners? Nah. Go via Myanmar. Access all areas after that. Simple.
  21. UK passport holders, and I'm sure many others, haven't needed a visa for Taiwan for years. One of the many delights of visiting there. Heaven help them!
