What a load of ball ocks. The system's credibility is shot to bits. There is no trust in the integrity of the DNA sampling and testing.
The spin doctors are out in force, attempting to head off the backlash that will inevitably happen when the Burmese guys are found guilty.
It's all so disgusting and reprehensible. A real affront to the notion of fairness and justice.

Re-enactments are PR stunts for the cops and are an insult to the notion of a fair trial in court.

Clearly if the interrogation of the alleged suspects had gone on without violence, then the cops would be falling over themselves to go to the NHRC and willingly testify. That they choose to ignore it speaks volumes.
Are we about to see some new scapegoats, ones in uniforms?

There is some unnecessary sniping at the author of this article. She is not blaming tourists but pointing out that in their innocent and well-meaning way they are contributing to the continuation of the problem. Of course, the traffickers are the real villains and the corrupt and lazy authorities who turn a blind eye are their de facto supporters. A Western tourist can't do much about them, but the tourists can take a stand by not giving money to this scam.
As for it being an old story to some TV warriors, yes it certainly is, but clearly it is new to to many younger Westerners.
The need to expose child exploitation is as relevant to day as it has ever been. Otherwise we are just continuing to pass the buck, literally and figuratively.

So just Khao San road?....Pattaya, Khon Kaen, Chiang Mai..Hua Hin..........everywhere......and everyone turns a blind eye......cheap, forced child labour!....all a part of the cause of global condemnation towards Thailand....and the authorities still try to convince the world of their ongoing efforts to stamp it out, but it's simply just talk!
And also USA, UK and other Western countries, where consumers are more than happy to buy goods made with the help of child labor. Politicians and police in those countries also turn a blind eye. There's money involved, so no-one really cares what they buy. Even on the rare occasions that it's publicized, people still buy the products, because the prefer a new phone to helping enslaved children. Child labor needs to be stopped wherever it happens, but don't turn a blin eye to what happens in your home countries.
We keep passing the buck around, figuratively and literally.

They may be guilty, they may be innocent, but my reality is that the evidence will be stacked against them. When I say stacked, I mean stacked. Forget the appearance of human rights lawyers and UK cops, there is no way these guys will get off.
It's difficult to convince anyone that forensic evidence has been contaminated if the powers that be are only looking for a quick and safe outcome, not the unearthing of the truth.
When will these simpletons realise that Thailand's credibility.will only be enhanced if the truth comes out even if it shows that Thais were responsible? A cover-up trial means that nobody but the slime-bags who committed this atrocity will be the winners.
It's 2014 and given the voracity of the Western media, the Thai establishment is on a massive loser by perpetuate this ballocks of a charade. Let the 'real' truth come out and we can all move on leaving the actual villains to rot in hell (Thai gaol).

The only place that British police have jurisdiction is in Britain. They have no legal authority at all in Thailand.
Imagine the hoo haa if a Thai was murdered in the UK and the Thai government expected expected the UK to surrender all legal authority to a couple of visiting members of the RTP.
Who's ever spoken about 'expecting to surrender all legal authority'?
It's never been about the UK police taking over.
-
It's all a bit late now.
Goodness knows how contaminated the evidence is by now.

Some of the posts on here say more about the state of mind of the poster than they do about the topic.

Does anyone really think Thailand and the RTP really care about what Briton thinks and does? The ONLY thing that makes them concerned is lack of tourists and the money that follows.
You are contradicting yourself.
Where do you think so many tourists to Thailand come from?

it appears the every day in Thailand is April 1st.

Just another day at the Keystone Cops show.

Such admiration for Hannah's family. Their dignified and positive determination to remember their beautiful daughter as she should be remembered.
Such a contrast to events elsewhere.

they're trying to tell everyone that these two Myanmar Midgets first overpowered a young, apparently fit European twice their size, killed him, then raped the girl and killed her, oh, after sharing a condom? Plus, they say they used the handle of the hoe on David, but the pictures of David clearly show that a KNIFE, or some type of SHARP BLADED weapon, was used by his attackers. They can not read, write or speak Thai, but they "confessed" to police after an "intensive interrogation" at a supposed "safe house". And by the video of their "reenactment" of the crime, they had to be "directed" by the Thai police as to what they did.
sorry, way too many "inconsistencies" for me.
The only things that are not inconsistent are the inconsistencies. The whole episode has been consistently shambolic.
-
The two arrested don't speak Thai, so it would be interesting to see how the interrogation went on through an interpreter.

Not trying to outsmart everyone’s theories.
However, would it not be sensible if some Super sleuth U.K Detective would take his ass over to Burma now these 3 accused are somewhat infamous? He, would have no difficulty finding their Burmese families to take their DNA samples back to the UK. Thus, to have them matched up with Hannah’s DNA.
BINGO!!!!
Conspiracies would be over and JUSTICE WOULD PREVAIL
The problem is the integrity of the DNA evidence allegedly collected from the crime scene.
-
I wonder what genuine evidence they have other than the confessions.
-
I want to believe that the culprits have been caught but this reeks of a frame-up.
Where is there any evidence apart from a totally dubious confession?

VIDEO: Phuket motorbike taxi driver shot dead ‘in road rage’

The shooter can't have been a Thai.
We all know that a Thai person couldn't possibly commit such a murderous crime.
Just like we were told that a Thai couldn't have committed the atrocities on Koh Tao.
