Another day and another tragic bus accident with multiple fatalities. How many per day do they have now? Only a fool would get onto a bus in Thailand.

Fools indeed. The locals appear to accept the risk as 'normal' especially when you see the dreadful standard of all aspects of road safety practised by Thais in general.

From a Western perspective it is sad to see these young backpackers, travelling on a budget, using buses without perhaps really being aware of the inate risks involved. The truth is there is a mass cover up by the authorities for the sake of the reputation of tourism. They should be fixing the problem not covering it up.

Actually, if readers of the forum will forgive what might sound insensitive, to end one's life while dancing and happy and being silly with relatively or no pain (I assume) or pain for a brief moment might not be the worst way to end, there are many worse ways so perhaps it's not as tragic or even silly but maybe the best he could have endured, maybe...It's actually one of the best deaths I have heard of in a long time. No offense to his beloved grieving friends or family---
