  1. Been there a few times. I really like the place. The 2 br apartments have a nice shape to them, which can limit space a bit but also makes them feel a bit more interesting than a boxy apartment. Location is good as it is right next to Central Rama 9 and the MRT. The mall underneath the building is 'so so'. Few restaurants, and a muay thai gym inside but you will most likely do all your shopping at Central Rama 9. It is only another 2min walk away.

  2. You will get a lot of replies here suggesting different tailors. The only one you need to know is Tailor On Ten if you are after quality tailoring with real fabrics and no upsell. www.tailoronten.com

Western managed and run. Completely different world of quality and customer experience to the dodgy old Indian places that Bangkok tailoring gets a bad impression with.

Give their website a read and check out their "get what you pay for" page. It is useful information, specially if you visit another place. That way you will atleast have an understanding on what to look for.

  3. Looking at doing a border run soon. I'm on a multi entry Non B visa

Was thinking this time I might just cross over at Laos and then head back.

After I cross the Thai side of the border, am I required to pass through Laos immigration and get a Laos visa or can I just turn around and go back through Thai immigration?

I really can't be arsed spending the weekend in Laos and I'd much rather do a quick 180 and head home or hang out in Udon or Nong Khai.

So whats the answer on this?

  4. I think videogames are fine and not a problem at all. The problem is more about moderation.

For example, most girls won't mind a guy that likes to go out and enjoy a drink every now and then but they won't be happy if you are an alcoholic. Same thing with playing games and neglecting other aspects of your life to play games excessively.

Meanwhile, I'll be playing Fallout 4 all day and night for the next few weeks. :)

  5. Contrary to what many might think, Thailand is one of the best places in the world to live on a small budget.

There is so much you can do for free or really cheap here.

I found a place where you can windsurf, sail, and kayak for 80 baht a year in Bangkok at a beautiful lake.

I also know an amazing gym with Olmpyic swimming pool, running track, tennis courts, gym equipment, boxing ring etc. All for less than 100 baht a year in central Bangkok.

There are tons of deals and like this available. Good living is affordable to everyone here.

  6. Ignore everyone above. They don't know their ass from their elbow when it comes to tailoring in Bangkok.

If you want a suit with real fabric and quality workmanship, go to Tailor On Ten - http://www.tailoronten.com/

No fake fabrics, no negotiating prices, western run and operated, and tailoring is done in-house, not outsourced to dodgy Thai factories working piece by piece.

You pay a bit more sure, but the quality isn't even comparable to the crap all the other Indian places are putting out.

  7. One would expect bouncers employed by an entertainment establishment to act professionally and use minimal force (if any), even when under provocation, to evict any unruly patrons.

Obviously this was not the case here, where the bouncers' lack of anger management skills and thug temperament got the better of them. Very unprofessional and should be sacked.

Who would expect that? Maybe someone who hasn't been inside or near a nightclub in 20+ years?

This happens the world over and most bouncers are <deleted> who need little provocation.

  8. not my experience at all.

ive made many thai friends and had lots of positive interactions in the area.

if anything, it is the people working there day in and day out that are the least pleasant to interact with. heavily touristic areas will always have an element of jadedness and worn down workers, specially in a place like khaosan road.

  9. @Metapod Still doesnt excuse their actions

And never did I say it did.

The point is that all the media has been putting out slanted stories painting him as 'johnny everyman vs mega rich baddies' and it simply isn't true at all.

He was a rich kid who got into a fight with another rich kid. The same thing would play out if this guy got into an altercation with a local thai guy. He would pay his way out and move on. This time he was on the receiving end and the other guys was evidently had a lot more cash to settle the situation with.

  10. the aussie kid and his family as millionaires also. he was studying at the most expensive international school in Bangkok and balling it up in Koh Samui.

No doubt he had enjoyed the benefit of corruption and significant wealth in Thailand, whether that was simple stuff like avoiding motorbike fines or more.

Now the boot is on another foot and it is all "young aussie with promising future as student/model" vs "super rich chinese bad guys" , when it is really just two silver spoon kids who got into a bar fight and one guy ended up a lot worse for wear.

Obviously you know nothing about the case

And to further reinforce my point....

2 rich kids got in a fight in a bar in Thailand

    I know it very well.

Sure the aussie kid might have got sucker punched and the chinese guys played the system but the whole "I'm just a poor kid with a bright future vs mega bad rich chinese guys" is a bullshit storyline. The school he was studying at is 800,000+ a year in fees. He was also working illegally in Thailand and well off financially.

it is 2 rich kids who got into a bar fight in a country with endemic corruption.
