    I'm waiting for

The Old English Pub ( Thonglor / Sukhumvit 55 )

    and

    Ekamai Beer House ( Sukhumvit 63 ).

Big fan of both. I see them working on the Beer House every day and seems like they are getting ready for the big reopen.

Old English pub looks dead, is it definitely going to reopen? They are paying HUGE rents there

The Huntsman pub in the Landmark hotel was always good, good band and I only lived around the corner on Soi 2 walk past the car park at the Nana hotel and get molested

It was always completely dead when I went in, literally just me and the bar staff.

  3. Ratchadaphisek Soi 6 (Tha Pra)

used to live round the corner and was addicted to a clam burger they used to sell in 2008 ish.

It was something that shouldn’t be. I have no idea what was in it besides clams.

19 Baht and I ate one every day for 6 months.

EDIT: Blimey; I found a reference to it online #memories

Yeah if the borders are open then no problem. I suspect this date was chosen because they anticipated borders reopening on July 1 and flights resuming then too. Thus giving people 30 days to depart. If for some reason this isn't possible I suspect they may extend the amnesty for another month or so. Or, if borders open August 1, they would give 30 days to depart from that date. Logically they can't expect people to go into overstay by not extending the amnesty until some time has passed since the borders are open and/or flights have resumed.

I believe it will be extended for another month.

there is nothing to be gained from throwing people out when tourists and FIFO folks can’t get it

From the phrasing of the TAT governor, it seems very unlikely that it will be possible to enter on a tourist visa before October. And even then, it sounds these will be for pre-booked packages in certain locations to avoid putting people through quarantine. So once out, it will almost certainly be very hard to get back in. And even if you find a job or register for a language course, there are multiple reports that a new visa from within the country can't be done. So the question is, will everyone on an expired visa be forced out within a grace period, risking a significant rise in overstayers, or will the amnesty be extended until borders reopen.

Just can’t see them forcing people out when they are losing all that revenue from tourists and the Fly in fly out, crowd.

According to the government's lists, almost everything is open, and little remains closed.

But in fact it is not like that.

First, the country itself is not open, since we are still not allowed to travel freely from one province to another.

Then, as already mentioned, schools are not open, which is probably the biggest aberration in a country basically free of the virus.

Then, many beaches and hotels are still closed.

Yes, some hotels are open, but the ones I have contacted are not fully open, either it's the pool, or the gym, or the restaurants that are still not operating...but something is always missing.

Of course, bars, movie theaters and all entertainment places are still closed.

Shopping centers may be open, but when you walk inside, it feels like they are still closed.

While having some of the best covid 19 numbers in the world, Thailand appears to be the country the least in a hurry to reopen, as if its economy didn't matter at all.

There's gonna be hell to pay for such nonchalance...

What on earth are you talking about? Literally everything in my area is open besides bars and massage shops. Places aren’t busy, but normality is slowly resuming

The emergency decree looks set to continue for another month as security authorities are still not confident about the Chinese flu situation following the easing of the lock down since early this month

What a load of crâp, beggars belief

    Literally starving people to death!

    Not literally tho, is it?

'The extension of the alcohol ban will help control the spread of the coronavirus by discouraging social gatherings, said Pongsakorn Kwanmuang, spokesman for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.' All this shows is how infantile these supposed leaders really are.... it's like being in a bloody kindergarten and thus the way they treat the people.

But it’ will help control this spread, it already has helped control of the spread.

nothing worse than a Farang who is slightly inconvenienced, is there?

What an absolute load of rubbish to reduce social gatherings those with drink problems and there are many start to get aggressive towards family if the government are going to ban the sake of alcohol then they have to give medication for free to those that will be suffering with withdrawal symptoms. I fear a lot of Violence will be taking place whilst this ban is in operation ☹️☹️☹️☹️

What utter nonsense, yet another Falang who can’t see further than his own nose

one of the reasons for banning alcohol sales at this time is to attempt to reduce alcohol related problems such as domestic violence.

Thai guys being cooked up at home whilst drinking heavily isn’t good news for many Thai wives

    This sucks.

This last-minute extension hurts only ordinary folks,

what utter tripe. Banning the sale of alcohol doesn’t “hurt” anyone.

they want to taken pressure off public resources, police hospitals etc by reducing the Social problems associated with alcohol.

Look at the figures. Thailand has a grip on COVID19 better than most countries, the measures are working, why change?
