In the past I was always denied to open an account while on a tourist visa. However, lately I opened an account at Krung Thai bank without any problem with the tourist visa. It was the branch in Ekkmai intersection with Sukhumvit. Not sure if it was an exception or what but it worked.
Other than that, if you look at the websites of the big banks they have some products for big investors from abroad. I guess you'd need to ask for those specific products in that case and deposit a big amount.Just tried that branch now

Which banks did you try?
Many Krungsri branches only require a 12 months rental contract.
SCB, GSB, UOB
which thinking on, wasn’t the best choice.

In short Bangkok Bank.
Last year a few lads who I know came over and experienced similar issues, for a bank account to get their "Retirement Visa". I was told by my accountant Bangkok Bank, they had a small catch. You had to "buy" their 12 month Health Insurance policy for 5,990Bt.All the lads went to BB - easy 30 mins and they had a bank account. PM me as I also know a contact in a bank who can do this for you, also they're excellent help in transferring large sums of money out of Thailand. Good luck. Thanks, I’ll try around Nana area

Hi, I’m on a Non-B multi. Have proof of condo address (electric bill, TrueVisions) and need to open an account for day to day use
no WPi live in BKK near Sukhumvit.
tried A few places around Thong Lor and they said not without WP
where should I try?
thanks

Why do you want to do a 90 day report?
There is no need to do one now.
Future planning, I have 7 weeks left on my stamp and I like to plan ahead
-
On a multi entry B, no WP. Can I still do 90 day reporting?
if so what do I need to take?
never been to immigration as I’m a FIFO
cheers

In the end of last week they had only done ~80,000 tests in Thailand, which is a ridiculously low number when we're talking about a country with ~69 million people. The number of official cases can easily be at least 10 times higher.
pointless speculation based on nothing whatsoever-

There are signs up in my condo saying “residents only” and they have set up a table outside (but quite away from the door) where guests are supposed to do something or other.
people just ignore it and walk in through the main door where the security guard used to be.
they have also unlocked the door that leads to the elevators, so in the whole the place is much less secure

I’m on a Multi Entry B and usually leave the country every 2-3 weeks to go work in another country. So get 90 days every time I get back.
no work permit as I don’t work here
My last entry stamp expires June 7th and visa is valid until December.
i would prefer not to go back to UK as COVID seems out of control there
what are my options? I would normally do a visa run, but that seems unavailable

I’m just not buying that there are hundreds if not thousands of deaths that are being hushed up with hurried cremations.

Even in some of the warmer European nations there are 100's dying each day.
I believe the human race has a debt of karma to pay to the world considering just how destructive and violent we have been to other species and the planet at large.
But as a Government's primary objective is to govern and guide in times of crisis, you could say the government du jour has done a wretched job of that.
The aftermath will be horrendous. Much worse than anything seen yet????
so where are they hiding these dead bodies then?-

You obviously dont have a clue do you? If this person is stranded here, he has to have a visa extension. In Thai immigration law you have to have empty pages in your passport, and also have 6 months left on your passport before it expires.. Comprendi dummy?
you don’t have to have empty pages in your passport according to “Thai immigration law” that’s untrue. They can stamp over old stamps
Why are you bringing up the 6 months lest on the passport? How is that relevant here? Who said that wasn’t the case? -

He then said I can't get an extension wih a nearly full passport?
He can tho

If a passport does not have adequate blank pages for visa extentions, etc., it could have plenty to do with a great many things.
They just stamp over the old stamps at immigration and they don’t need any space for stamps to fly back to the UK or anywhere in the EU.

Trump says quarter of a million US citizens will die in the next 2 weeks in a best case scenario and distancing measures are adhered to. This is not hysteria. They don't shut down countries for no reason. Thailand won't be opening bars again anytime soon- expect November time for rules to begin to be relaxed at the very earliest. It will be many years before normality resumes.
Mate, don’t start a sentence with “Trump says!”

try November
Absolutely no chance, the economy can’t stand halt for that long and the infection figures are low and steady.
that would be a massively disproportionate response

Reminds me of the Icelandic volcano incident.
I was in Milan at the time and my flight back to the UK was cancelled. So after a while I just went to Hertz to get a car to drive homeI thought I’d ask some other people who were on my flight if they wanted to join me/chip in, but no.
all they wanted to do was stand around moaning and complaining to Alitalia staff like they had a magic plane that would take them home.

Passport nearly full? What has that got to do with anything?

Where did you see that the parks in Bangkok will be closed as of tomorrow. From the paper that can not be named I saw something that denied a BMA Lockdown.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) on Tuesday dismissed as untrue reports that it will announce a full lockdown and keep city residents at home in a bid to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

They are all closed as of tomorrow
such a same, what’s the risk when proper social distancing is maintained?
