  1. In the last 3 weeks, 2 of my experienced friends have been robbed of their wallets when sitting next to a chubby Thai lady. Both had velcro sealed pockets. Best keep your hands on the wallets like I do. Please be careful.

  2. Where about is Simon's in Jontiem?

At the Hanuman statue turn the bend as if your going to the Beach, and Simon's is on the right

not far from the statue roundabout...

You got to drive slow else you will miss it.........

Errm not to sure where you're talking about, but Simple Simons in on soi 5 past immigration, beach direction on the right.

We are not talking about Simple Simons. Simon's Fish and Chips is just past Hanuman statue, as correctly stated before.

  3. My Thai bf and I were married in Canada. However, as gay marriage is still not legal here in Thailand, he is thus recognised as a single man. A couple of years ago he officially adopted his sister's son, with both his sister and her husband signing the consent forms. I was not part of the process. He is bringing the child up with his sister still involved. The husband has no interest in his biological son. So it is possible for a single man to adopt in Thailand.

  4. Too bad their programming is not as good as their maintenance. For example, last week on Universal channel they aired the same episode of Law and Order 5 times. They repeat programs many many times.

  5. After reading this thread I dropped into Benjamit today. Great coffee, great service, nice place. Rather small cup, however; no air con; so, it's not cheap. Guess every drinker will have to decide for himself whether it's a good value. Good place for people-watching during market days I guess.

I'm glad that you gave Benjamit a try.

I'm not so sure about them serving coffee in a 'small cup' though.

This is what they served me.

You could be correct about their prices. They may be a tad above prices charged by other Pattaya outlets, but for superior coffee, I won't be complaining.

Do they sell whole roasted beans? If yes, what prices? Thanks.

  6. Well I have to give Jomtien Immigration kudos for their efficency. Arrived at 1pm today to do my 1 year extension based on retirement. Received my number from the Thai officer at the front given to me with a pleasant smile. I only waited for 5 minutes before being called. A young lady checked my papers which were all in order.

    1. Proof of income letter.

    2. Application form TM7 filled out with one photo attached.

    3. Copy of Passport face page.

    4. Copies of 2 more Passport pages with Arrival card on one.

    5. Copy of my electric bill for my condo.

Gave her the 1900 baht and told to sit down and wait.

    6. 5 minutes later received my number to pick up passport tomorrow after 10am.

All in all a wonderful experience.

  7. What is the fare from Jomtien Hanuman statue area to Central Shopping Mall? I thought Pattaya Tai was the demarcation and have always paid 20 baht, but have been told Pattaya Klang is the demarcation and should pay 10 baht.
