Anti-Israel or anti-semitic - Mr Azhar Ali
NotEinstein replied to TorquayFan's topic in The War in Israel
A good look under the hood of the antisemitism industry can be seen in this 2009 documentary by an Israeli journalist. -

Risk of bursting washing machine water hose?
NotEinstein replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in DIY Forum
The hoses supplied with washing machines are thick and very robust, the potential weakest point being the metal clamp securing the ends. In reality the actual washing machine connection internally is probably the weakest point, it usually being a push-fit rubber grommet on the solenoid valve. The more flexible metal encased toilet squirter pipes are another matter, with a very thin pipe - the thick white versions are much stronger if less flexible. -
The main issue with the vast majority of the wifi security cams available now, it seems including your FNKvision, is that you must use their app to interact with them. This means that you are not able to organise what I consider to be the most important function, i.e. recording motion activated images over FTP to a NAS or other device on your LAN. This used to be standard until the mobile app 'ease of use' method of management and the forcing of storage on SD card or in the cloud, with it's associated security issues and costs. I have had to resort to building my own cams with raspberry Pis running motioneye to get localised, minimal data storage and full control over image manipulation.

Chiang Mai Immigration Online Appointments Now Available
NotEinstein replied to ubonjoe's topic in Chiang Mai
Did it in November. It seems they have removed the Thai family extension - they have increased the expected timescales to 90 minutes each too. -
What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2024)

I really enjoyed the award winning British comedy series Detectorists https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4082744/ that I discovered last year. I also found a torrent of the complete box set of Rumpole of the Bailey - they don't make 'em like that any more...... -

Light enough for the wife to fling around but powerful enough to trim newish mango tree growth. -
Come Smokey Season : an Idea for Chiang Mai Businesses.
NotEinstein replied to SamSanuk's topic in Chiang Mai
They don't have to catch the arsonists - just apply a massive fine to the actual land owner, with a repeat resulting in jail time. -
We went through this in November - luckily one of the 'tent' IOs was not serving, so we gave docs to him saying we have an appointment, he checked then gave a ticket so we could be accepted inside.

To stop neutral floating up. I recently upgraded a house, adding a consumer unit and earth. When I connected the earth rod there was a sizeable spark. Ideally you need to measure between the ground bar and the 2 input cables to know for sure which is live. If you don't have a test meter, a bulb in socket with wires to connect would tell you.
-
Do you have and ac volt meter?
-
I thought one of the 2 black left-most on the ground bar went to the neutral bar, but you say that isn't the case. There should be a connection, but as most older houses here don't even have a ground to tie the neutral to, it's not surprising.
-
The one going outside will be to the grounding rod, which again is correct.
-
The ground bar is at the top. Yes. I see now that the ground bar is connected to the neutral bar, which is correct. The labeling behind the C63 main breaker is actually incorrect.
-
Actually, in Thailand it is correct, as neutral is 'grid-tied' to ground. If you buy a consumer box these days the neutral and ground bars are connected. The above has the ground bar connected direct to the neutral input, which is not normal though.

90 days and annual renewal question
NotEinstein replied to kingstonkid's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Well my extension expired towards the end of November and, as I had just returned from overseas at the end of August, did an online 90 day report so that I had a TM47 in my passport - it only lasted for 2 weeks, to align with my extension expiry. Upon extending, the IO told me to do an online 90 day report, which lasted the 5 weeks until my 'under consideration' date expired. -
90 days and annual renewal question
NotEinstein replied to kingstonkid's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Online 90 day notification requires the 'stay visa expire' completed so if you apply close to that date, that is the date now given, not 90 days after application. This means that one has to do a 90 day report in person on or soon after the renewal date, assuming the IOs don't do it for you (Chiang Mai don't after the 30 day waiting for a Wife/Family visa renewal) -
Yes, was there yesterday doing the 'walk thru'

Chiang Mai Immigration Q & A - Info and reports. (2020)
NotEinstein replied to JimmyJ's topic in Chiang Mai
No TM30 issues, probably because we had an online account and, as they requested in September, I made a new account and registered myself on it, along with the German volunteers staying in our residence, so over-riding my return from overseas at the end of August. Some are having issues and getting fined though > -

Marriage extension today. Previously reception accepted paperwork when having an appointment, but now they insist that the paperwork is check outside first, which means queuing up with those trying to get an inside queue number, or, as we did, poke the paperwork at the officer that was luckily not doing anything. This year they wanted 2 sets of 2 photos outside and 2 photos inside the house - luckily I had 2 pages printed of last year's photos with us. Once accepted inside it took the advertised 20 minutes. -
Was back there for 6 weeks visiting family until end August after 8 years. I didn't see any violence, although a train I was on couldn't stop at one station as the police were 'dealing with an incident'. Apart from the big move towards cashless and the big jump in eastern Europeans there, not a lot had changed. To be honest, the level of violence in Thailand is way beyond the UK if watching channel 32 Thairath of an evening is anything to go by.......

Chiang Mai Immigration Q & A - Info and reports. (2020)
NotEinstein replied to JimmyJ's topic in Chiang Mai
OK, but many of us did register online and have re-registered. A friend went to CM Imm. yesterday specifically to preempt needing a new receipt for his extension renewal (he registered online) and gave up because of the queue he saw. He asked the information desk but didn't get an answer either way. -

So are we required to obtain a new TM30 paper receipt from the new database, or is the old paper receipt still acceptable for extensions etc? The alleged queue at the TM30 office suggests that they want a new printout. -

NotEinstein replied to JimmyJ's topic in Chiang Mai
They introduced a new database and instead of migrating the data, they requested to all online users, mainly hotels, to re-register and then add all residents.
