Personally I like Ban Chang. Has a great balance of working Thais and enough to do . Also close enough to pattaya if you need to go there . Couldn’t tell you about the internet connection though .

I had a house I would use 6 weeks a year (winter) let me tell you it was an utter pain in the <deleted> !! Would come back and it would be falling to pieces everything from the cheap furniture to the air conditioners would be broke and I’d spend 4 out of the 6 weeks putting it right just to enjoy it for two weeks . Wasn’t worth the hassle so I sold it .

Depends on a number of things to be fair . Does your wife work ? does she come from a normal family ? Where does she come from ? For example if she was a former entertainment girl she might be more suited to living around other similar couples in a place like Pattaya or Phuket . If she’s from a normal middle class family then rayong or Hua Hin might be more suitable . You might think she’s just Thai but Thais can be judge-mental and know exactly where in life she’s come from . If she’s not happy you won’t be happy

Yes Thailand has a huge middle class . You just won’t find them working in massage parlors and gogo bars . It’s like some people think soi 6 is a reflection of Thai society.

To add once you cut the funding she will surface like a cockroach especially when they are both clucking for another hit . Use her addiction to your advantage be cold hearted but remember your daughter could end up being the family’s future hooker if you don’t get her out of there . It’s harsh words but true mate .

Sorry to hear about this . This is the major pitfall of a long distance relationship , the first thing I would do is cut the funding completely, I don’t mean for one month I mean for ever until you get a dna test! once it’s confirmed you get a British passport for her . As soon as that’s done you save that money that you have not be sending her and you give her a one time payment to stay out of your life forever she will happily take it . take your daughter and bring her up in the UK .

Surely the Scottish harvest is a lot shorter then Thailand’s ???? I have 10 acres in the pnw mostly marketable timber that is worth about the same as a one rai plot I have in rayong . It’s madness for sure .

Where are you seeing that ? A reasonable building plot about a 1/4 of an acre is around £50 k I know as I have been looking for a while .
