This behaviour by immigration does not surprise me in the least,, after witnessing and being told of so many arrests being made for
the strangest offences against immigration law over the last few years, mostly it seems to generate personal income,
One "offence" committed by a good friend of mine at a bar he owned, (everything in his girlfriends name, and he wouldn't even change a light bulb in fear of breaking immigration law) was that he was sat talking to me at a table outside the bar, he wasn't serving me, just sitting there chatting, but one of the seven immigration guys who arrived at the bar came over to our table and asked my pal "are you the owner", he replied that his girlfriend was the owner and everything was in her name, he asked me if i was a customer, i told him i was, he then informed my pal he was working illegally as he was sat talking with a customer, he took him to one of the waiting cars where he negotiated a release fee, my pal paid him and his associates B15,000 and they left!

He offered more info than he was asked and walked right into the trap...

"No."
"Is he a customer?"

I would have one step further and said, "No speak english."
 

Aaaahhhhh this is so true....the story is similar in Pattaya.... Idiotic reasoning! Is this really blind to the politicians and the ministers.....Thailand immigration is injustice to the system they proudly try to defend... Blind to what is really an issue and reasoning like the police.....benefiting from it too.... THAILAND IS AMAZING...

My question though what would a pensioner have left apart from drinking and playing with his thumbs and having to pay for his stay to do so! Perhaps, Thailand loves doing nothing and wishes their visitors doing the same..... GET A LIFE! Live in a country where you are free to live, not simply be dictated or punished for what an individual is free to do in his past time!...... Not very amazing Thailand!

Wow... Is it that easy? Their are requirements of the Thai education ministry, then there is the legal frame work, check with a lawyer at the ministry of trade and commerce, they will give you the road map an the introduction to requirements, of both the education ministry and the ministry of immigration. Even that brought us down to a polite no.... You have to get a work permit and have your certificates to be approved by the requirements of the ministry of education.

What does the school want? Primarily leading English conversation with the students together with learning about life outside of the village; to open their eyes and broaden their horizons. Off-site arrangements would be wholly innappropriate, and would in any case be classed as working without a WP.

Thai education... Needs redefining!!! Learning brings change and change brings the need for more training and education.... The present Govt. prefers the rural stays rural and education a box of trade tricks. Do not disturb this hornets nest. I know of people in Pattaya, who were arrested for raising funds through a charity organization that was going to the poor! .... There is no logic, and those who like the school teacher cannot understand his own country's attitude on this!

I for the life of me can not figure out how a license is going to prevent an accident. Where I come from they had a mandatory vehicular check also the drivers had to pass a certain test to drive a public vehicle.

Why people think that just getting a license will solve the problem is beyond my scope of comprehension. The vehicles should be subject to minimum standards and checked every year and the drivers should be made to pass more stringent tests.

Then and only then you will see a reduction in the accidents. just licensing them does nothing except provide more money to the government.

I would not be one bit surprised if an investigation showed some not all unlicensed vans and drivers to be the safer choice. The reason we here so much about the unlicensed ones is because these are English based sources of information we get it from and to them a license has a different meaning than in Thailand.

When the Government or one of its ministries comment that they are looking into the policies of licensing of mini busses. I think the majority will agree with me on the following;

1. Minibuses should be limited in public service to a particular, route, distance and speed. It's no point investing in 10 more air bags or if the driver should have a circus license or even speaks the good ingalisch!

2. Comfort is good, but priority is safety and instead of making some lame circus loop to increase fares on this licenses. It should increase the insurance on each passenger and the compensation to families in the case of death.

3. Public transport should be properly defined. Size of bus, routes, stops, securities in weight, storage, and maintainence!,,

4. Personalized vehicles such as ferraris and those who think they are land pilots should be grounded, jailed or license confiscated.

5.install in all public transport busses speed records and driving meters to control the drivers rest periods. Alcohol tests prior to long journeys and spot tests on the way. A second driver and route reporting of time,

Thailand, wake up you are no longer ignorant to common sense.

Most of these caught are like drug carriers, they use and photograph and make money in their circles, sometimes arranging parties and encouraging trips and overnight stays.The hotels turn a blind eye and small pubs in residential areas are never checked out.

ur applying for a retirement extension so u need the Non immigrant visa first as you can only get an extension on a non immigrant visa for long term stay ( i am NOT refering to 30 days extensions on a tourist visa)

apply for the extension within 30 days of ur NON immigrant visa is due to expire, ie 60+ days after u get it
