Whats new here?, they have said this so many times in the past and nothing ever happens.
-
The reason they use heat detectors is because smoke detector types are limited due to the government refusing to let certain types, which work better, into the country. Nothing new there, and sprinklers are limited due to height of buildings. The difference in time to actuate of heat against smoke detectors would have made no difference in this situation.

Mobile phones do not cause fires at petrol stations period. It is static on the cars.

Looks like the old - Land of Scammers - has now been overtaken with - Land of Skimmers !!
Just saying ....
Because guys like him my EU-bank has Thailand (and Singapore as well) on the black list. This means i can only get 10.000 baht for ever atm-transaction where i pay the 220 + 100 baht for every single transaction.
Many tourists refuse to use the atm's now and walk around with cash which is a risk for being robbed and give Thailand a bad name.
You must use a strange bank because I can get 20,000 per transaction with no problems.

After five years do they really think any 'money' will be found, it is long gone and away.

On june 24th it will not matter what those clowns in Europe say.
Britain will be out of the EU.
Don't think so and certainly hope not.

Funny looking water monitor, looks more like a baby crocodile

Heard it all before, all hot air, nothing will improve.

Money would be better spent in controlling Soi dogs at least they are real.

The sad thing is that they, Thais, actually believe it. Rolled ten times, don't think so maybe once.

A good example of a bar made notorious by regular raids with the attendant press and social media coverage and frequently critical reviews, not least on TV. It is now attracting the basest forms of life and making a fortune in the process! Thank goodness these people have been drawn away from other decent bars where we can drink with less unwanted unpleasant distraction.
It does not have regular raids, only one this year and then they were found to be free of drugs. Guess you are just bias, no one is forcing you to go and it keeps the tourists happy so what?

The regulations might be there but no one follows them, another pointless exercise.

You have British passport, that is one ID and driving licence, why a problem?

When is 'enough' enough, in parts of Chiang Mai we are already being rationed to eight hours out of every 24.
-
From experience the inaccessibility is the problem. I had a Cobra under mine and no way to get to it for removal, trouble was our small dogs could get under so we had to wire net the whole perimeter to stop them.

I'm up early to shower before 9.

One minute it is Pyrogen then the next is FM200, Pyrogen has nothing to do with FM200 and is a small system for vehicles etc. The flooding system would have been FM200. One day the press might get something right??? Why arrest the contractors it is the building management who should enforce a work permit system and also ensure that it is being complied with. Always blame the workers never the management.

Halon is a good fire extinguishing agent mainly used for electronics. It is not particularly dangerous when expelled and does not 'smother' a fire, but interrupts it's chain reaction. Just trying to stop the crazy ignorant statements here. Thirty years firefighting in US and abroad.
So does it not become a narcotic in confined spaces.
Halon 1310 has been banned around the world for years. It removed the oxygen which is how it extinguishes the fire
Wrong again, it has only been banned by signatories to the Montreal convention, some countries did not sign, Thailand for one. Halon also does not extinguish the fire by excluding oxygen although that helps but by a chemical reaction with the flame front.
-
Originally it was an explosion then a fire then activation of a Halon extinguishing system now it is a FM200 system, all very different. If FM200 then no one would have been in the room during an activation, nothing to do with a Halon. The cylinders, not tanks, should have been locked off before any work started. Sounds like they were allowed to work without a work permit??? or did not follow one.

sorry but doesn't insurance only allow original dealers to fix your car? I only had minor things I got fixed under insurance (scratches, small damage to screen etc) and I always went to a Toyota dealer. I don't think e insurance would approve a private garage to fix it somewhere.it was a private garage in Rayong.... i will be sure to get the name and post it later. It was a big very professional looking place terrible service though.
Always used the dealer to fix problems and the insurance has never been against that
Not so, many insurance companies do not like the overcharging by original dealers and prefer to use local companies.
-
When a Halon system is activated the cloud of gas that comes out looks just like smoke and hangs around for a few minutes. Providing the depleted air still contains at least 12% oxygen then you can survive if the oxygen density goes less then you have a problem. Sounds like that someone did not design the system correctly or isolate it whilst the 'workers' were present, a normal procedure.

There is no requirement for an original dealer to make the repairs, in fact some of the insurance companies do not like to use them as they are far to costly. If you are with a foreign company then write to their head office addressed to the CEO, if you are with a Thai company then you can write direct to the insurance ombudsman with copy to the repair shop, works wonders.

A stupid move to try and get out of paying for drinks. If I tried to steal from Thais in this way I would expect the same treatment.
I really like the Thai style of getting a bill rather than having to pay for every single drink every single time you buy one like in pubs in other countries, where you have to wait at the bar to be served, then wait for the waiter to pour your drinks and then pay for your drinks and then have to wait again for your change.
If idiot farangs keep behaving like this it will ruin it for everyone. A couple of Canadian girls tried it in a go go a couple of weeks ago and I have personally seen it many times. Come on a holiday to Thailand and steal from the locals. Scummy.
Would not surprise me to find that you have got it totally around the wrong way. Most likely the bar, as frequently usual, tried to charge him for drinks he never had.
Guess you like being beaten up and throwing your money away, I don't. When I run a tab in a bar I do not 'trust' then I make sure I read and initial every tab before it goes in the pot. No signature no pay, many organised bars do it with no problems.

Bangkok Insurance is probably the only Thai insurer that actually has funds to payout. Should not have any problem with them, they have a satisfactory record. Personally I would go for one of the foreign companies such as AIG and their subsidiaries.
Thailand approves plans to track tourists' phones

They really do not know what they are talking about, powers that be that is. Just having a SIM number will not help, OK you can see if the phone is turned on but not exact location, could be anywhere in many hundred square kilometers. To track you also need the IMEI number of the phone. The location of this will vary from phone to phone, but the IMEI/MEID number is usually printed on a sticker that is affixed to the phone underneath the battery. If the phone has an IMEI number but you are on a network that uses MEID numbers, ignore the last digit (IMEI is 15 digits, MEID is 14 digits). Without this it is almost impossible to track a location. IMEI stands for 'International Mobile Equipment Identity' number.
