  1. Strong military role in NBTC

What a sad situation in 2011

It as always been my strong belief that this government will remove the army from the airways. We have seen to often how this power is abused. Please no more posts about this being a democracy. This place as a seriously long way to go but removing the forces from tv and radio is a major step in the right direction

  2. Just look at the Thai Soaps - it is all women-beating , gang violence - guns - drugs etc yet if somebody smokes they blur it out . They are fed this every day - and they think this is normal

    living

Totally agree. Thai TV promotes all of the above. I once watched tv where one schoolboy stabbed another on a bus at about 5pm but hey dont worry the gf still loved the perpetrator of the crime. Turn the dam thing off for 12 months and see if social behaviour improves. We may joke but tv is truly the real ajarn of social behaviour here.

  3. Now, Abhisit is becoming courageous, and asking for action on Thaksin. This would not be so amusing, except for the fact that he did very, very little to pursue Thaksin while he was PM. His army bosses told him not to, so he did not. Now, he is pushing the reds to do something, and treat him just like any other fugitive. Abhisit is a coward, and a tiny man. He lacks any conviction, and only talks, and talks. "Dee tab poot", good at talking, but not much else. What a pathetic loser. He cannot come to grips with the fact that he was voted out, and by a huge margin. He had so many opportunities to pursue Thaksin. Thailand made a grievous error by not getting him while they could. What a mistake.

Abhisits crew sent a dossier to interpol to arrest Thaksin on terrorism charges. The director of Interpol used it for wiping away his tears of laughter at the terrorism charge but saved a couple of the pages to wipe his butt on. Sad how Thaksin is welcome most places but not here. The world knows the truth about this but most of farangs on here sadly dont

  4. About Thaksin he was absolutely right. Unless Thaksin's case is reopen, the evidence evaluated by a different, non-coup appointed body and overturned. Other than that, it should stand as it is.

For the record, the evidence was evaluated by a non-coup appointed body.

    Thai ex-PM guilty of corruption

Thailand's fugitive ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra has been found guilty of corruption and sentenced to two years in prison by the Thai Supreme Court.

    BBC - 21 October 2008

Which non coup elected body are you referring to. The man that orchestrated the coup also controlled the judiciary. Do some google and see who makes up that group of people. Mainly ex senior military and ex senior judiciary. So if the army dont get you the courts will. Naieve I dont think.

  5. when the People Power Party was in power, the then government set the legal guidelines not to forward a pardon petition to the Royal Palace if the case involved a fugitive.

    "but...but... it's different now"

but... but... we don't agree with the charges against him

(neither does any other convict in the world!)

Convicted yes but by whom and under whose control. If the man is such a villian why are the nations of the world welcoming him with open arms. What the pro dems on here forget to mention is that all the electorate wealthy and poor knew of Thaksins past yet still voted him back to power. Just begs the question how p1ss poor was the alternative

Abhisits mentor had a brother who was a fugitive. I think he went to Taiwan. About $8,000,000 but theres no chance of you mentioning that

  7. Yesterday I talked with a Thai rice farmer/trader/ricemillowner, he wasn't worried at all that the business would go down, he said that if the Thai rice price goes up, so will the Vietnamese, it's been going like that for the past 100 years. Besides that the demand for Thai rice will stay high because it's better quality then rice from other countries.

That is exact how it is. We've seen this trick before, just a few years ago.

I think the ThaiVisa news is rather colored instead of well thought-out and objective.

    Colour is strong yellow

  8. its only about, money, they intimidate, suppression, what nonsense. This is the only true opposition to the official PT party. Most of you would have never been in a Red village. Personally I go into one regular and the village has known dem supporters (albeit) not many and they are not suppressed or ostresized. Keep chanting your nonsense, theres a major wind of change blowing in

  9. The new government's populist rice-pledging scheme will be a short-lived subsidy lasting only one year if it fails to influence market prices for rice, Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong said yesterday.

In the case of an unsatisfactory price outcome, the government will seriously consider reducing the area planted with rice as an alternative mechanism to increase prices.

    Am I reading this right?

The government are trying to force the price of rice to increase?

No wonder they want increase wages. No one's going to be able to afford to eat.

The government is trying to squeeze the 30 or so rice families who have kept most of the nations farmers poor for decades. There is enough profit margin in the price the exporter buys and then sells for. The mark up for the farmer will not effect the Thai rice price greatly, the rice families who export all the rice will have to reduce their profit to compete. Previously these families retained their profit margins by reducing, at will, the price to the farmer. It is likely the rice barons also own all the mills and do all the exporting. These rice families are big part of the reason that all Thai farmer are poor.

  10. Again? Will this be like all those other times that he predicted it?

The only ones that could be above the law, and not be the monarchy, would be the army.

Wrong there is one position between the monarchy and the army which is neither. Who do the elites go to when they dont like what a gov is doing. They dont go straight to the C in C, they go to the man in the middle and he calls the C in C to get the army out. Please dont be naieve (mispelt?) Only the in the full course of time will we really know how much power and influence this person asserted over Thai history

Oh ... I thought when he said "it had nothing to do with the monarchy" that he meant people directly connected too.

Jatuporn has tasted the porridge he is very careful with his words. Plus he is only saying things in public he is instructed to. pre-empting a coup has got be a good tactic. Even if there is no coup imminent, hes taking the limelight away from somebody. Personally I think its a tactic because its now to late for the coup. The Americans warned Thailand about downgrading relations if the outcome of a fair election was tampered with plus now the majority of Thais dont want the Dems or the army near power. Any attempt to relive the glorious feudal past will be met with extreme force against the perpetrators

  11. While recognizing the political changes in the police force to favour PTP friendly characters, lets not also forget the context of how the previous government placed its own people in power positions throughout the civil service and at the top of the police and also not forget the cleansing of the military down to battalion level, which received scant criticism compared to this.

Either all agree not to continue this practice or all agree to when in power have the right to plant whoever they want, which is standard practice and has been for ages

Edited to add: are those that write such things really expecting to see PTP continue to keep in place all the overt political appointments of Dems and BJT who wont work for them, or just taking cheap shots that remain hypocritical considering the limited criticism over a far reaching campaign to cleanse every police, army and civil service post of even those possibly suspected of maybe possibly not disliking Thaksin?

Really Hammered, do you ever place a post that makes sense to anyone but yourself and you wife... what the fluck are you on about... no...no explination needed.. must have been all the Dandy and Beanos you read as a child..!

makes plenty of sense to me. Take your yellow goggles off it may read differently. After a year of reading and now posting I for one find hammered one of the more enjoyable, sensible reads on this forum. He does not clock on to post

  12. Again? Will this be like all those other times that he predicted it?

  13. These 'shadowy hand' allegations are rather tiresome.

I agree rather tiresome but sorry to say no smoke without fire. Thaksin tried to have him arrested on the night of the last coup (read the cables wikileaks). Its futile to refute them cables because the American gov is not. And theres 1 other cable that implicates him and others on LM charges. Maybe Thaksin is keeping that one for later use. Unfortunately it is tiring but it will go on being tiring because who is going to be brave enough to investigate a man in his position

  14. True democracy, red shirt style. They donĀ“t know democracy even if it hit them in the head..:annoyed:

No particular relation to skywalkers post but lets not forget under which government Thailand had its media downgraded from "partially free" to "not free' and which government allowed the closure of oppostion radio stations and alternative newsapers just before an election. Smacks of using your position to control the press or as the others call it Intimidation

  15. Interesting how the majority of Thais surveyed would like to give the government a chance.

How very different than many of the views expressed in TVF from those who want the government to fail or to be removed.

Seems your right there but I suppose it all depends on which shift is clocked on as to how anti government they are

  16. Perhaps if the editorials made a little more effort to accentuate the fact that the violent element are actually a very small percentage of people who voted PTP, and as such, although the violent law breakers make headline news, their actions are not readily supported and are not representative of the majority of PTP voters.

May be if these editorials made more effort to explain the true detail and balance they may be perceived as being a little more constructive in the reconcliation process

"a little more effort" , "explain" and "true detail" remember what paper your reading then you will understand why you dont get the former. Saw a headline in said rag the other day (in bold red type) "ABHISIT PINS GOVERNMENT..." The man could not pin a tail on a donkey with a rip in his blindfold

  17. She said 16 polices needed to be urgently implemented during the first year, including the policies to create political reconciliation, to fight against drug trafficking, to reduce corporate tax rates and to provide soft loans to the poor.

First policy pardon criminals and return their 76 billion baht as 'reconcilliation' allowing them new access to capital to control society. Next fake drug war for popularity and to physically intimidate critics. Then slash corporate taxes to reward the mega rich Thais and international backers for their support. Finally loans to keep the chattle in debt bondage to the Thaksin family

Well DP,I opened this thread expecting a good laugh , the remarks passed by various members did not disappoint me,your hilarious post being no exception!!, after all the PTP is just one big joke , with the "Lord Thaksin" at the ultimate head of affairs ,of course it is taboo to mention his name in the house, just glad no such restrictions exist in Thai Visa ,LOL

If you keep debating Thaksin his sister will get a free ride but he keeps taking the flak and his sister sails thru with no interrogation. It has crossed my mind that all, if not all most, people who voted for PT knew who the real leader was, it was no secret. Every time you slag of Mr. T you are slagging most of the Thai electorate and indicating that they dont know what they are doing by voting PT. if I was Thai maybe I would be insulted by the 'know it all farangs' on thaivisa.

The pro dems on here are living in the glorious feudal past but need to wake up. The nation(not the paper variety) has spoken and they want Thaksin for leader not wet Mark. Thailand is going forward in many ways and the people of this country will never go back in the bottle that kept them without a voice for decades.

  18. I urge those that may jump to conclusions that these are redshirt s to allow the police to investigate as it is quite normal do to a body dump.

That being said, if these people do turn out to be redshirts, the response of some people in TVF will be interesting.

Totally agree. Equally if they are proved not to be red shirts, lets hope all the pro reds stop gobbing off also.

We dont need to gob off we won. If they are proved to be some red shirts in the hole I pray some of the pro useless dem ex gov do stop gobbing off. If some are red how can anybody gob off in support of murderers.

  19. 597,500 bullets were taken out of army arsenals and 479,577 returned meaning 117,923 bullets were fired

Thats a summation from the unmentionable source in March of what was reported in parliament

Your assumption that 117,923 bullets were fired is incorrect. An unknown percentage could have been simply lost (it happens), stolen from dead and injured soldiers, or purloined by the troops for later sale. 5.56mm are also called .223 when used in civilian hunting rifles, an excellent round for mid-sized game (or men).

Given what happened during the conflict I wouldn't be surprised some disappeared. During the first clash in Ratdamnern, the one where the commander was assassinated by a sniper, the military was pushed back and they abandoned some of their vehicles. At other points soldiers were dragged from their vehicles and beaten. Reds at one point captured a huge stash of weapons which was displayed on tv, and they supposedly gave everything back, but who knows what else was taken. Soldiers themselves could have kept it or sold it. All throughout the conflict there were opportunities for weapons and ammo to disappear.

Ok if your weak excuses for ammo maybe missing. Lets say its 50,000 rounds gone missing. It leaves a lot of bullets to shoot at your own people

  20. Extremely plausible when it was reported that 120,000 rounds of ammo, that had been issued to soldiers, were never returned. Too much of the recent past did not fit together but with this and I expect other revelations it is starting to. Does anybody know how many of the 2000 injured where actually injured by bullets. I would imagine it would be quite high. Some previously 'untouchables' will be getting squeaky bum if any of this is true

Where and when was this reported? I googled it, and there were no hits.

This is old information that was given out by a member of the old government and vociferously explained by Jatuporn in government house. Do a search on thaivisa for threads I know I read it on here. 2200+ sniper rounds not returned

Bullets do not return - you are confusing them with boomerangs. B)

Yes no look mate. Truth is coming home. Just before the real leader of Thailand does

As I said, I googled it, no hits. The only hit on TV on 120,000 rounds is your statement on this thread. So, now would you please research your "fact" and let me know? Thanks.

    For the second time

response to this article from a dem sympathiser would be nice. Please dont let me have to wait for Yingluck to uncover all the truth
