  1. Don't you think that groups of armed redmob marching on Bangkok with leaders shouting phrases like "burn bangkok to the ground" & "death to the elites" & tipping buckets of HIV+HEP+ human blood on the gates of parliament was a touch provocative. Even after all that the redmob were greeted with bunches of flowers from Bangkok citizens and help from local nurses who live in the very city the Reds threatened to burn down, those nurses had jobs in the "elitist" hospitals that reds wanted to shut down. The reds were allowed to carry on with their armed & provocative uprising for two months in the capital.

How long do you suppose Yingluck would stand for that sort of behaviour from any of her opponents.

The Yellow shirts stranglehold on Bangkok went on for 6 months + a seizure of an international airport and nobody shot them old deluded twossers
  2. Yingluck should call out the army, assassinate the ring leader, by sniper then crush them my murdering at least 90 of the geriatric terrorists but that sort of thing never happens

The yellow shirts need to set up some petrol soaked barriers, throw a few grenades, kill some soldiers, kills some by-standers and invade some hospitals before that happens.

edit ... oh, I see someone beat me to it ...

In response to B.t.N.'s response: Some soldiers had been murdered before those things happened.

The soldiers as virtually proved from the video where killed by their own men lobbing a grenade amongst them, to create the decided effect which was the army shooting anything that moved. I would rather believe the munitions expert who stated that a flash grenade of that nature could not have been thrown the distance between the demonstartors and the troops lines. Only posssibility another soldier rolled it in and stood behind the armoured vehice. Now please tell me how many other army personnel where killed.0.0.0.0. you guessed it.

Was this the same red shirts who took weapons off soldiers and handed them back with the ammunition

    What video??? That's complete BS.

The grenades that the red shirts were using at other times during the protests were launched, not thrown.

Its not Bs it was available in the Amsterdam report (who you will have to discredit). Of course its only opinion buts whats your based on. If you run the video slowly you can stop it when the flash grenade goes off and you can see the molten metal rising from the ground. One grenade thrown lands right in the middle of 6 officers. What is the likely hood of that. The likely hood of a grenade rolled in from 10 m is very possible. What other soldiers were killed now

She's probably waiting for them to kill someone, burn down a building or 6, invade a hospital, or even launch an RPG at a jet-fuel tank farm. You know, the stuff "peaceful protesters" always do.

Not one of the things you mention was done until one of the reds was murdered

  5. If there's any brawling to do, Pheu Thai Party MP Karun is the one to call. I half-expected to see the Kung <deleted> Master coming off a top rope somewhere with a roundhouse kick at some point in the video.

    The Nation - April 3, 2008

A government coalition MP decided to take things to a physical level yesterday by kicking an opposition member.

People Power Party member Karun Hosakul kung-<deleted> kicked Democrat Somkiart Pongpaiboon

Witnesses say Somkiart was eating with colleagues at the Parliament cafeteria when Karun entered and launched his ineffective attack. Karun then lashed out with a fist, but missed again. Then the pair got into a shouting match, with Somkiart on the end of heated abuse.

In fact, Karun got so worked up that he had to be restrained by police officers and other PPP members.

    --------------------------------------------

    and then later, a follow-up:

    The Nation - May 10, 2008

People Power Party MP Karun Hosakul was yesterday asked to honour his promise to resign after he was found guilty of physical and verbal attacks against Democrat MP Somkiart Pongpaiboon inside Parliament on April 2.

A fact-finding report reached a unanimous decision concluding that Karun had assaulted Somkiart and used rude language, MP Vichet Panvichartkul said yesterday.

    --------------------------------------------

He didn't resign as promised, in fact... five months later, he had another victim

    The Nation - October 29, 2008

Gothom Araya, Chief Advisor of the National Economic and Social Development Board, Wednesday urged leading members of the People Power Party to reprimand PPP MP Karun Hosakul for having allegedly threatened to kick Senator Rosan Tositrakul.

Karun allegedly made the threat during a joint sitting of the House and Senate on Tuesday.

    ---------------------------------------------

Still no resignation after the 2nd incident, and now as Pheu Thai Party MP... he's out on bail for Red Shirt terrorism

    The Nation - June 8, 2010

Court grants bail to Jatuporn, Karun

BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court Tuesday granted bail to Pheu Thai MPs Jatuporn Promphan and Karun Hosakul after the two posted Bt1 million in cash as guarantee each.

The Department of Special Investigations asked the court to detain the two without bail but the court disagreed.

The two were charged with instigating people to commit act of terrorism.

    epilogue:

He's still a Pheu Thai Party MP.

    .

Usually early thread nonsense to change the direction and aim it PTT way when the truth is it just demonstartes the true colours of the opposition. It is so noticeable when certain individuals always attack early and turn it into the usual anti Thaksin tripe.

  6. Democratically elected government intends to have cases heard by an independent court: NOT ACCEPTABLE

Decision taken by a court, set up by an illegal coup: ACCEPTABLE

The military did not set up any courts....same courts same laws as before the coup.

And the coup wasn't illegal....only unsuccessful coups are illegal.....else the US government and all the European governments would be big in troubles.....

In what body to the senior most judges and army brass end up. Work it out

  7. the why, part II

Still haven't the foggiest why on earth Sonthi is doing this.

Else he could be arrested for running a coup.

    Mutiny is punished by death.

As is Thaksin's already-existing treason charge.

    .

Why worry about the fugitive thaksin when your mate Sondthi has been sentenced to 20 years and hes walking around scott free. Sondthi should be tried for treason for taking over the airport

  8. Thaksin would be a main beneficiary.

Thaksin's son praises Sonthi for 'unlocking nation'

Panthongtae Shinawatra, the son of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Tuesday praised former coup leader Gen Sonthi Boonyaratglin for proposing a reconciliation bill.

Posting a message on his Facebook page, Panthongtae said he believed Sonthi's reconciliation bill would unlock the country out of the political impasse so that it could move on.

Panthongtae said Sonthi, who toppled his father's government in 2006, deserved the credit for the efforts to help the country move forward.

    -- The Nation 2012-05-29

What a PR coup. Getting the leader of the coup and the bloodshed that followed to now be the spearhead to right the wrongs he committed. Thaksins brilliant

  9. Still haven't the foggiest why on earth Sonthi is doing this.

Depending on what you mean..If you listen to some on here G Prem was handing out veiled threats about the current cabinet being good people and taking Yingluck in for a cuppa. Lets look at it the other way. GP like Sonthi have beem caught bang to rights with regard to an irrefutable cable in which they commit LM, the very weapon they use to keep the status quo. It would be so easy for any Thai national to go into a police station and make a complaint with regard to LM. Instead certain parties have agreed a compromise whereby they only say nice things about PTT...or else. Its like silly 4rse Mark saying he waves his immunity, codswallop he done a deal and he knows he wont be in court anytime soon in a trade off for Thaksins return. Will Mark wave his immunity when an international court comes calling..

  10. Another unelected [ex]Shinawatra putting her twopennorth in! An unelected legal adviser making pronouncements on behalf of the government!

And always the government's unshakeable belief that they can pull the wool over the eyes, not merely of all of the people some of the time, nor merely of some of the people all of the time . . . but of all of the people all of the time: "Yingluck alone would make decisions about the Cabinet." ". . . a pending Cabinet reshuffle was just a rumour . . . every ministry was doing a good job." "There will be no Cabinet reshuffle to make space for the 111 politicians, because any and all changes will be made for the purpose of improving the government's [questionable] ability."

Prompong went on to say: ". . . the press is focusing on charter amendments." Probably because the government is doing so, to the exclusion of the business of running the country.

He then cited Banyat Bantadtan's remarks about a roadshow on why amending the Constitution would be a bad idea, and suggested such a roadshow would ". . ..cause disharmony in society." - something at which the government and its redshirt cohorts are succeeding admirably on their own - before claiming ". . . that the Democrat Party does not respect the voice of the majority," while conveniently ignoring the fact that the PTP actually received some 15.7 million votes, out of an eligible 47.3 million voters, and notwithstanding the fact that an extra 6 million ballot papers were printed.

The extra 7000000 ballot papers where printed on the Dems watch not to benefit the Peau Thai but to fiddle the Bangkok vote in favour of the Dems as the dicrepancies in the dusit polls fully illustrate. Dusit called the voting right in all parts of the country but not Bangkok. At one point it was predicting 24 seats for PT in Bangkok and I think they won 8-9. I have said before that this will be brought to the fore when PT need it , not now. They had a 100 seat majority so keep your powder dry.

As we all know 'exit polls' work on + or - 3% but in some places they were 20% out on their predictions. Never ever heard off anywhere in the world

  11. Perhaps it might make more sense this way: "The majority of eligible Thai voters who actually voted, voted for PTP."

No, that doesn't make sense either.

48% of valid votes. 44% of actual votes. 33% of eligible voters. 23% of the population.

The only thing they got was a majority of the seats, but theoretically you can get that with 20% of the votes.

Regardless of how you put the figures you lost and what might be more gauling is that they will never see power in the next decade....without khaki intervention

  12. From a Volk 666 post .....Growth spurts are just that - spurts, they can't last forever by definition. When the momentum inevitably changes these guys let Democrats take over and wait for the next wave. Very clever...

The Democrats have not won an election in their own right for 20 years. So when has Thakin ever let them back in power... More nonsense from the opposition

  13. I think it will be more of a trade off situation. Gen Prem is maybe a shadowy figure who walks around the institutions of the state using his undoubted clout who is not best pleased that Thaksin ordered his arrest on the night of the coup. I still believe Thaksins got enough on him to trade for his own freedom. Based on the reaction of red shirts over previous demonstrations they believe he is the coup master who removed their government. He the middleman for any intervention that involves the army removing governments (so they tell me). Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer. For anything like true democracy to be established in the country there is certain figures who need to be neutralised and detached from there power base. Heres hoping she will be knocking on a few more doors very soon

  14. Yes but the U.S do not consider this extreem but purely asking the victim a reasonable question. Now if someone was to use the same technique on a U.S citizen just watch the outcry. The U.S are accountatble to no one and they know it. If you speak out against them then you will get your face slapped

Not sure whether naivete or stupidity best describes what you have written. That gritty feeling in your eyes and ears is from the sand where your head is buried. To suggest that the USA is running around torturing people without provocation--and that using the same technique on a U.S. citizen would evoke an outcry--shows a gross ignorance of facts and trivializes the beheadings, the three thousand World Trade Center murders, and a whole list of other jihadist atrocities.

Still, those Americans defend your right to be ignorant and say what you will and they can only laugh at isolated rogue ignorance knowing that it is not a reflection on the countries from which such rogue ignorance has come; and that said countries are barely able to defend themselves in peacetime from immigration and economic aggression, let alone defend themselves against an imminent threat. First sign of trouble and out goes the call, "Uncle Sam, please-please help us, we are so scared."

If you dont want another 9/11 stop letting Israel dictate your foreign policy

  15. If you believe wikileaks (as the cables were sent from an ambassador), Thaksin tried to have Prem arrested on the night of the coup which indicates Thaksin knew who is enemy was. Its all political dancing and face saving and depending which report you read this story can be read 2 ways. The one posted here or the other one which asks what was said in the 30min private meeting without the deputies. I cant imagine that Thaksin was not the main subject of dicussion. Why was the meeting publicised, maybe to allow Prem to retrieve some credibility with a large chunk of the electorate. Who knows but it bodes well for the return of Khun Thaksin - sister meets nemesis and agrees deal

  16. The PAD have lost their backers (and their backers need to be investigated - never mind the red shirt backers) and because Sondhi disrespected two important messengers he copped some lead in his nut. So it beggars the question what or who would give that ex PAD leader the confidence to dis the messengers.

  17. No way the army would stage a coup. They can't not after an internationally authenticated democratic election. When Hamas was democratically elected in did anyone but Israel do anything about it. No there will be no coup any time soon. It would be too damaging to Thailands reputation.

Well there is a coup and a coup.......If there is fighting on the street the army is taking over the streets and the TV channels, and the PM goes to HM the King and tell she need to resign (and she does that because the army told her that she will be shot if not).

Than it isn't a coup technically. But it also won't resolve any problems.

It is the role of the real government of Thailand ( the one that is unelected) to make it appear that democracy is not working so to get acceptability when they coup. The geriatrics in yellow are just one of the tools used by these shadowy people. The 'real' government I refer to is the one that is made up from the patronage system and everybody gets a good feed at the trough before retirement and there is no way they will allow anybody to take power from them (91 dead red shirts for start)

  18. It get's confusing when you get people like abhisit keep on throwing in scare mongering about the charter reform being purely for whitewashing one man, in a word, obsfucation.

They haven't even got round to paving the way for a CDA to be formed so that they can discuss constitutional ammendments, and Abhisit is running around squawking about amnesties like a man possessed. Who knows what he'll be like when they get down to the "nitty gritty".

The 'nitty gritty'should not concern our mark too much. After all he was only the pizza delivery boy, he took the phone call and delivered the orders. Thinking about it hes still doing the same in oppostion, it must hurt with somebodys hand up your 4rse all day... just a puppet

  19. Campaigning to vote "no" to 2007 constitution wasn't illegal and was actually quite successful. In Isan, for example, "no" votes far outweighted "yes".

The fact that only 33% of eligible voters approved of it doesn't mean anything - as people pointed out here PTP got over 50% of parliament seats on the same percentage of eligible voters, with only about a third of voting population that voted for them.

PTP also got over 50% of seats even if less than 50% of people who went to the polling stations voted for their candidates. After the previous elections they were similarly overrepresented and no one complained.

Such are the arithmetics of "democracy".

Personally have no faith in the last election figures after 7,000,000 extra ballot papers were printed. Why was the dusit poll so accurate all over the country and so wrong around Bangkok. Heard it after the election that Bangkok polls were rigged because it the thing the Dems had to hold onto to spout that <deleted> that the éducation middle classes voted for us' . Dont be asking me for a link or a source because it was told in a personal conversation

  20. I'm losing count the amount of times he has threatened instability in the country - it's almost as if he is wishing it. Well the army seems content to stay in the barracks for now and I don't think the yellow shirts have forgiven him yet so it looks like he's going to have to wait a while before trying to win by election, the usual way for most people.

If the government insisted on pressing ahead with politically sensitive issues, he warned that could lead to conflicts which threaten political stability and that would likely impact the economy.

Perhaps it is the only way Mr. Abhisit sees of regaining power and serving his masters?

Like the PTP Government serving their "master" in Dubai?

How many million people voted for PT knowing full well that bringing Mr Thaksin back was high on the agenda. Yes I agree he is the leader of the PT but at leasts hes known to all, whereas we may never know who was pulling Abhisits strings but we can all make an educated guess.

  21. "..................................during a red shirt anti-government protest..................."

It is these seemingly innocuous, off-the-cuff references to R'song stated as fact, are 'in fact' misleadingly designed, historically revisionist statements............. R'song was not an anti-govt. protest.....it was an anti-coup protest. This kind of revisionism is simply Coupists trying to hide behind anti-Govt. rhetoric...... What protesting taxpayers fought and died for, was not against any Govt., but against the theft of their political rights - the right to be governed by those they select..........Hence their mantra about early elections, that were violently suppressed and denied by those who feared losing them, as indeed happened last year...........To this Opposition who will be faced with the truth of what they did, as described above, any progress to that objective would be a 'rushed". They want to drown this thing in interminable processes until it fails just by the sheer weight of itself.

Calgaryll does not need support as he eloquently states his case. The opposition are trying bury this before it gets out, which is what they have done on 3 previous occasions recently(last 20 years), where the killing of Thai nationals was covered up. No more cover ups.

Cut the time wasting and just ask what the orders were, who gave them etc etc That will sure open a can of worms

  22. It would be nice if they got there story correct, he was no longer PM when the coup took place he had resigned and then tried to reappoint himself as PM. These are the kind of stories the usual suspects grab hold of to re-write history according to Big T

Actually, the "usual suspects" tend to point out that there were elections scheduled for mid-October, so why the rush for a coup?

Like it or lump it the powers that be could not accept he was and still is the most popular non monarch in Thai history. Not only did he wants his head in the trough but he was about to take the trough away and let his mates feed in it........ Coup time

  23. He remarked the causes of their deaths must be determined to give the society the truth concerning the violence and facilitate the judicial process.

Perhaps the democrat party and certain individuals in particular might reflect on the fact the onus was on them to give society the truth by carrying out investigations in a timely manner 2 years ago and providing the committee they set up to "find" the truth with the means to do so i.e powers of sub-poena.

And then he has the cheek to say this

He said a few groups of people have attempted to dodge court sentences given to them by ignoring the fact-finding process.

Who does he mean? It's not any of the security forces, they have immunity courtesy of the Emergency Decree and have avoided any fact finding process. The Red Shirts have either served their sentences or are on bail awaiting trial. The PAD have all been sentenced but all are on bail. Who's left? Thaksin?

The only truth we need (said numerous times) 90+ dead. Who gave the orders, what were the orders, were the orders carried out, if not who disobeyed them before we examined who fired a few home made rockets, who set some tyre alight and who sat in peaceful protests.
