Back to the same old question, what has priority, humans or the envirnment.

Probably not! I'm not a geek.
I only use it for phone and text, usually leave the wifi off to conserve battery. I have no wish or need.to get email or surf from my phone. I chose it for physical size which makes the screen too small for practical use of these functions. I have searched for updates on occasion but just get a spinning wheel for 5 minutes, so I cancel.
This is why I need to find a sevice centre to sort out.

I have a wildfire which resets after making or receiving a voice call. I then have to reboot by removing battery and restarting. SMS messages seem fine.
Does anyone else have/has had a similar problem?
Does anyone know where I can get support in CM? the HTC place in Airport plaza seems to have dissapeared, I was referred to a "service centre" over the road near the driving range but that was a waste of time.

Thank yourself lucky you didn't buy! One of the main reasons I would never seriously consider buying here, you never know what's going to happen next, condo or house, and you are vitually powerless to change things.

"Neither a borrower nor a lender be;
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.
This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man."Shakespeare, from Hamlet

There's a small Japanese bakery on the junction of Nantharam and Suriyawong, just South of Chiang Mai gate. Alaso has a small cafe attached. Great bread and pastries, and good filled baguettes, croissant and sandwiches.

Rice works pretty well for small spaces. Its cheap and can be dried out in the sun or oven and used again and again.
As does salt

Moderators, would the link to the level monitor be a good thing to sticky

i understood that this is the reason that there a number of unfinished buildings in CM dating back to the 90's crash.
The banks are unwilling to write them off of their books at a loss!

Given the lack of responsibility assumed by Thai banks for virtually
all kinds of fraud, even if committed by their own employees, does anyone know
of an insurance company willing to underwrite this risk on a personal basis? Have
searched on line but nothing found. -
South side of the moat, Chang Lor Road, just past Saen Prung Gate, heading West.

You can find more modern books on the bittorrent sites but these are illegal scans and often poorly compiled. Better to pay the money and buy legally.
The reason that the books on sites like Gutenberg are so old is that the copyright has expired.

Have sent you a PM with name and phone numbers of the visa company in CM that many of us use for our visa requirements.
Could you send that to me as well please.
Thanks in anticipation.

This is not a new practice, nor is it a CM phenomenon. I used to eat in a gastro-pub in a village near Oxford about 15 years ago who employed exactly the same methodology. For many things, particulary stews and food cooked in sauce, it results in a betterproduct than would have been if prepared that day on the premises.
The steak sounds pretty grim though!

I've found calling Dubai a better option.

Does anyone have any experience of having surgery undertaken at Sriphat medical centre?

The people on OurChiangMai.com seem to be trying to influence things.

The songthaews that run regular routes, (different colours different routes, red are by request) charge 10 Baht up. I regularly catch the yellow one from the top of Nanatharam Road, near CM Gate, down to Airport Plaza or Tesco Lotus on Hang Dong road for 10B. If you go further thay may want a bit more.
I have also taken green ones from the back of Wararot to Meechock for 10B.

Golf in CM is getting ever more expensive with the average walk on fee around 2,400 baht for a good course. Places like hang dong are 9 hole and rather poorly maintained and more poorly managed, suggest you google golf chiang mai and arrange bookings and transport through one of the golf tour operaters you will find.
There are also some golf societies that will welcome visitors.

The actual list names Thailand the country as a top choice.
http://money.msn.com...tirement-havens
Overall it's a pretty ridiculous list and I wouldn't take it seriously. Singapore? A great little country but as a top retirement haven? Not a chance.
I think Singapore almost actively discourages retirees, unless your in the MULTI millionare bracket, and if you were, pleasant though it is, why would you want to live there?

Was wandering past this afternoon and thought cider would be nice, so went in. 245 Baht a bottle!
I enjoyed the cider, though cringing at the price, then the barmaid gives me the old "you have Thai girlfriend........?" shit!
Have eaten Sunday lunch there before, it seems to be authentic and very average British pub grub. i.e. not very good.
Seems like a place for sad expats that can't really get it together.

Buying Pangas supports unscrupulous, greedy evil corporations and food conglomerates
Gosh!
It's not just that, it is that the producers are coming up with a very unhealthy product. Watch this video, to see how unsanitary their fish production (which is catfish, basically a dirty "bottom feeder" to begin with) is:
There are other more explicit ones available on Youtube (I tried to embed a link here and a warning came up that this could and should not be done. Just Google Vietnamese and "catfish" in Youtube.
These fish are grown industrially in dangerous "baths" of harmful chemicals and pollutants. Some of the fish farms are located next to chemical plants and cement factories that empty their effluent directly into the Mekong River, which is one of the most polluted in the world. This is an instance where fish is not good for you (increasingly, health gurus are warning people to avoid fish consumption because of such practices).
Makes a really good Sole Meuniere, but now wife has found out how they're produced....!
